Celebrating our 40th Anniversary at "1890" was a beautiful experience. The romantic setting and quiet made for awesome conversation and reflection. A perfect place to show my bride how much I still love her with a diamond band. Wine list and the menu were impressive. Fantastic food from appetizer to main course. Best "breast of duck" since vacationing in France and steak cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Thank you for a wonderful evening. (You were highly recommended by Jim @ the Inn on Lake Granbury)
Another excellent meal. Great atmosphere - quiet and peaceful. Superb service.
Great steaks, nice wine, excellent service, bit pricey but worth the dollars.
This is well worth the drive. The downstairs lounge is cozy and nice for a before meal meet. The upstairs restaurant is a hidden gem. There is an elevator for those in need. Food is excellent. Good selection. We've been several times and loved it every time. Nice wine list. If you're looking for a late night place (after 8:30) this is not where you want to go. Walk the square then eat. It's worth the treat. This is still a small town and the sidewalks close down early.
Overall very good restaurant in Downtown Granbury. Bar service was a bit slow in the actual bar but bartender was very nice. Upstairs dining was nice although restaurant was very busy and loud. Wife and I both had the duck which was very good. Overall good experience.
Delicious and the service is awesome! This was our second time there and is a perfect dinner for date night.
Food, service and atmosphere was great as always. Best fine dining in Granbury.
Exceptional Food and outstanding service. Lauren was our waitress and she was funny, personable and gave great suggestions. Unfortunately I live over an hour away but if I come back into town it will absolutely be my top choice for dinner!
Excellent food offering small plates. Staff was outstanding as well.
1890 is our favorite restaurant any where, period. Food and service are superb, and the steaks are always perfect. It's our go-to for celebrating special occasions!
it was great!
We wanted a special place for our engagement! Scott was an amazing waiter and met all our needs, including taking pictures. The lump crab cakes are marvelous! The Texas Trilogy was so tasty! We both enjoyed the seafood pasta. The cheesecake was decadent!! We both loved the quiet atmosphere for conversation and the amazing chandeliers! We will definitely be back and recommend to our friends. The wine list was also excellent - the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir was a great selection by Scott!
Overall this was a great evening. The service was excellent. We were there for my husbands birthday and everyone made a point of wishing him a happy birthday. Our waiter was so nice and just the right level of attentive. The crab cake appetizer was amazing. My filet was excellent to. My husbands ribeye was fairly tough which really surprised me. Excellent Creme brûlée for dessert. The bar was fun with a very friendly staff. We went back after dinner for one more drink and it was a very lively crowd. The only cons: did not have our first choice of wine, but we just picked again from ample wine list, so no biggie. The lighting was a bit bright. As mentioned hubands steak just ok. Pros: lovely staff, very nice decor and all the other food was excellent. We also liked the attached market and bought some great spices and oil. We would definitely go back to 1890.
The wine list prices are outrageously marked up. We spent more on a so so bottle of wine than on our entree. Seriously, a bottle I can purchase for $8.99 was $40. Food was good, not great. Service was marginal. Bill with tip $150 for 2. Won't be back.
Was please with every aspect of our dinner. From the greeting by the hostess to the waiter, all very professional and enjoyed their job.
If you are ever in Granbury, 1890 Bar & Grill is a must.
Ephemeral was wonderful! He took care of us very well. So happy with his service and very pleasant conversation.
We had a girls weekend for 6 and they seated us in a fantastic spot upstairs. Everyone in our group liked their meal. The host and waiter were excellent. One strange rule, though. We each wanted a separate check but the server said he couldn't bring us more than 4 checks. Since there were 6 of us, that was awkward and caused us to have to do math to split a couple of the checks. Other than that annoying detail at the end, it was a wonderful evening.
Outstanding dining experience. Food is impeccably prepared and is delicious and unique. Service is up to the quality of the food and atmosphere. A joy to dine here. A bit expensive, but ideal for special occasions.
Food was very good, service was excellent. Was a tad noisy but not terrible
The food and service was wonderful. Great place for a special meal.
We have dined at 1890 many times. The food and service is always top notch. If you are a fan of Bob's Chophouse, III Forks or Del Friscos you will be right at home here. Great bar and wine selection.
I just wish they had not removed the lamb chops, sea bass and cinnamon butter from the menu.
great food and great service wonderful meal with very generous portions
Our server was excellent. Comp our drink and my companion meal, which they sure did not have to and we did ask them to do.
Moved to Granbury three years ago. Always wanted to check out this restaurant. Hubby's birthday is the day before Valentine's Day, so we decided to combine the two celebrations. Easy to make reservations through Open Table -- table was ready at the appointed time -- server was very helpful and efficient. Hubby had the filet, which was excellent, and I had the chicken and seafood pasta, which was VERY good! I was a little disappointed in the potato soup -- but everything else was tasty, and the portion size was generous.
We went for an early Valentine's Day dinner. As always the food and service were great.
This was our 5th or 6th visit to 1890. It is our place to go for special occasions. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the banana pudding to die for.
For the $$, I have had better food experiences.
Most people dining were couples and most seem to be enjoying a romantic night out, but you always have to have that table of 4 or more that are loud to kind of take over the room. That was this Saturday night. The upstairs dining overlooking the county court house is a nice space offering a good atmosphere for a romantic dinner. The wait staff was pleasant and knowledgable.
To the chef, I would encourage them to pay a bit more attention to detail.
We started with the Texas Trio appetizer which was pretty good, but for $18 you did not get much. Just 4 skewers of 3 meats on each skewer that were pretty tiny pieces. I would estimate 4 oz's of meat total for the appetizer.
I had the pork chop, my wife had the salmon. I would say the were both just average. Presentation was good with the food, but the taste was nothing memorable. Not a ton of flavor in either dish. The pork chop appeared to be cooked sous vide, then grilled. The grilling seemed to just burn/char the meat. Can't say that burnt to a crisp charring adds much flavor. The garlic mash potatoes & sauté spinach were good.
They have a good wine and cocktail selection. We each had a nice glass of wine with our meal.
After tip, spending $125 for a meal, I expect a little better experience. Thus I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
Been there many times now and never disappointed the food and atmosphere are relaxing and enjoyable.
Great ambience and great service, and food was very good!
Enjoyed our experience at this grille and lounge. They also have a store next door that we enjoyed tasting seasonings, oils, and vinaigrette's. This is a great place for special occasion or just evening out. Will be visiting this place again.
The food and the service were outstanding. My ribeye was the best I’ve had in years
Have eaten here quite a few times. Food and service are excellent. This trip I was a little surprised when I ordered a Grey Goose and orange juice that they were out of both. But having eaten here 5 or 6 times that's the only thing I can say surprised me...
Excellent food with stellar customer service. Appetizers: Crab Martini and Jalapeño Bacon Mac & Cheese. Entrees: Salmon and Duck. All perfectly prepared.
The addition to the restaurant was very nice however, the previously consistent pork chop, was dry , tough and over cooked. We chose this restaurant for our 50th anniversary dinner because it was a step up for dining in the area. We were very disappointed in the food.
The food was good. The ambiance was good. We both had the Chop.
The food was great. One person ordered the crab cake and it was very fishy tasting and smelling. I was disappointed that we were told the bread basket we were given was the last of the bread for the evening. We had a 7:15 dinner reservation so it wasn't like we came in at closing time. This really isn't acceptable for a restaurant of your caliber. The wait was quite lengthy from ordering to receiving our food. The restaurant wasn't that busy either. The food overall was excellent except for the crab cake as mentioned.
The food was well prepared and well presented. The house salad was not too impressive, but the appetizer was good but pretty small. Everyone's meal was enjoyable but for the price, the steaks were a little disappointing - very tasty and well seasoned, but a little too much gristle for such a nice steak. I would go back for a special occasion, but I would probably try something else.
Great revamp moving the bar downstairs
Elegantly simple decor throughout
The back room for big parties is beautiful !
Good food & attentive service
Now for my pickiness:
Bread is just OK tasting, but should be warm
Also, please bring butter in addition to olive oil as I like to also put it on my steak
Crab cake is OK - a little heavy on the Dijon /spicy mustard & lacked some color
( maybe green onion & red bell pepper ? )
Caesar salad was dressed perfectly.... just wish it had more garlic : )
Grits were delicious but could have been warmer & a tad creamier
Consider warming your dinner plates . I like my entree hot
Now to my fellow patrons :
* Please silence your cell phones on arrival *
Good food. Appetizers were excellent . Good wine list. Loud.
The 1890 has become one of our favorite places anywhere in the DFW area. The food is always good as is the service. The pork chops are to die for.
