If ordering appetizers, bottle of wine, steaks, dessert and coffee for two plus tax and tip, you can expect a $200+ tab. However, for a special occasion with outstanding food, atmosphere, and excellent service it’s reasonable and worth every penny! LOVE 1890 Grille!
This is our GO TO PLACE. The filet was beyond great. Our waiter Jim is absolutely the best anywhere. He always takes extra care of his customers. We had happy hour in the bar and the price and quality of the drinks were fantastic. We Highly recommend this place for any occasion or no occasion at all. You can’t go wrong. Oh and, the spinach artichoke dip is a must
Great food and service. Was disappointed in that there wasn’t a dress code for a restaurant this nice. Couple next to us had on shorts and t-shirts. Looks like they could have just come from the lake. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Otherwise, very good.
Dining experience was very good. Food was delicious and the service was great!
Wonderful Experience as always. Jem makes every experience at 1890 wonderful!
My wife and I found the 1890 Grille and Lounge to be an excellent place, quite surprising actually in a relatively "small town" setting. We come from the Dallas area, so we have our pick of nice places to visit; this place is on par with many of them.
I had the wedge salad (very decent, although it could have had a bit more blue cheese crumbles) and my wife had the house salad, which was extraordinary and unique (we shared each salad). I had the grilled duck with the mushrooms and grits (superbly prepared) and my wife enjoyed her salmon and vegetables. The bundt cake was the best desert I have had in a long time, not too sweet, great textures, fantastic finish.
The service was fast, friendly, and inviting. We took along our 6 month old and no one made us feel unwelcome to have the little one with us (he's a good dining companion for the most part... he just needs to be changed and fed beforehand, and given a bit of attention during diner, and he's fine.) Every one there was wonderful to our family - quite attentive and prompt.
The only oddity of the place is not knowing which door to go into! From the street: door number one (on the left) is the bar/lounge, door number three (on the right) is the market, so door number two (in the middle) was the winner! Then, you will find the entire eating establishment to be located up a narrow staircase. I suppose this is not a problem normally, but lugging a baby up and down was a bit awkward and unexpected.
All in all, 1980 Grille is a place everyone should try at least once. Who knows, it might be your favorite dinning spot when you find yourself in the Granbury area.
Special Birthday surprise. Dinner for five adults and two children. We expected a limited child's menu so were not surprised that there was non. The kits ate well from the small plates section.
Each adult plate was different and every one was very well done. Great attention to detail, good wine selection (for us who don't know any better) and good cocktails.
A great dining experience in Granbury.
Nice ambiance, steaks done perfectly and Kimberly did a wonderful job serving us.
Fantastic food and bar choices. Spectacular service.
My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary here, it was a very nice experience. The food was awesome, the service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was wonderful.
Superb food and service—a delightful experience for our anniversary
Filet was not special at all. Sides were very small. Cheesecake and bundt cake looked nothing like what was on the desert tray. Bundt cake slices were very small! $9.00???........please.....Our server Jem was wonderful! He really pushed the pork chop. I don't eat much pork so I certainly wasn't going to order it at 1890. IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE BEST ENTREE ON THE MENU!!! Next time I will order the chop! It was far better than the filet!
The room was clean, comfortable & great view. Check in and checkout quick & easy
Waitress recommended the Filet, and swore you could cut with a fork....She was spot on. All the food was well prepared and very tasty. Great spot for fine dining in Granbury.
We’ve been 4-5 times in the past and always had an amazing visit each time so we were really surprised when our last visit didn’t go as well. We arrived early for our 9:00 reservation. We enjoyed wonderful cocktails while we waited. We were taken to our table a little before 9:00. That’s where we sat without being greeted or acknowledged by a waitstaff for a good 15minutes at least. My fiancé actually had to get up and go downstairs to let the ladies that seated us know we still were waiting....even they surprised we were still sitting there without service. It was corrected and we got fabulous service after that....we will still return again because the food is truly amazing we enjoy the atmosphere....
The steak was amazing and our waitress was awesome! Thank you for making our anniversary dinner memorable!
The jalapeño macaroni and cheese was amazing. The shrimp and grits were great. The steak was very tender and tasty. Highly recommend.
Great drinks, food and service. We’ll be back! Be sure to try the jalepeno Mac and cheese!
Our food was phenomenal and the staff was amazing. Our waitress, Sherri was one of the best waitessses we have ever had.
total experience was excellent as were prior visits. wife and i thought we would try the shrimp entree as a change and were disappointed. others at our table had beef dishes and gave rave reviews. we'll be back.
Consistently good food and the staff is great. Bar tenders can get a little behind but they are friendly and overworked I believe.
I took my grandfather out for Father’s Day and the experience couldn’t have been better! There were four of us in the party, and between the appetizer (Texas Trilogy) to our entree (8oz Filet with buttered mashed potatoes and fresh cut green beans) and our desserts (Kahlúa Chocolate Cake and Cheesecake) we had an absolutely fantastic night! I highly recommended!
The staff was friendly and provided excellent service. The food was some of the best we've had. The presentation was outstanding and the food was delicious. The courses were served with appropriate timing (attentive staff) and we were't rushed to finish our dining experience. We couldn't have had a better experience!
A nice elegant meal before a Broadway show two doors away. You can't go wrong with this.
Love this place! Great food, service and the desserts are very delicious! Kahlua cake is delicious.
Food & service was great!! Atmosphere is quaint & good for special occasion or an every day dinner!!
Scott was a great server, the food was excellent as usual. Highly recommend this place.
Had heard that this was great for steak and seafood. We started with two crab cakes for appetizers. Although the crab cakes themselves were as close to anything you would get in Baltimore while in the middle of Texas, the horseradish in the roumalade left something to be desired. The steaks were flavorful enough but most people could do better on their own backyard grille. The green beans and mashed potatoes that accompanied the meal were also nothing to write home about. No one ordered dessert. Along with two glasses of wine the total bill was $330 for four people. Very overpriced for the quality of food served. Don’t let the menu fool you. The only thing high end about this steakhouse is the price.
We finally had the opportunity to try this local steak house... and our only regret is having waited so long! Arriving a bit early for our reservation we decided to try out the bar... great bartenders who make a perfect Martini! And they also had my favorite rum... both the 23 year and 25 year aged Zacapa and RZ XO! Double score!! Then on to dinner... dining room is surprisingly small with only about 16 tables. Interesting light fixtures makes the space seem less cavernous. Brandon was our server... with Jim providing comic relief and suggesting entrees which was greatly appreciated as I would have never otherwise ordered the double bone in pork chop (which was outstanding)! I chose to have the blue cheese crust on the side and it really made the meal. Add the appetizer bacon Mac & cheese as a side dish with your meal and forgo the mashed potatoes!! My dates filet was also perfect. We greatly enjoyed the recommended Northstar Walla Walla Red Blend with our dinner. And then... dessert... even though we were more than stuffed at this point... we could not resist the Chocolate Kahlua Bunt Cake... one word... AMAZING!!! Fantastic dinner in this sleepy little town south of Ft Worth!! Ask for Jim or Brandon as servers!!
Without doubt, the finest class restaurant in Granbury. Downstairs seating area avoids the climb upstairs but the upstairs has more ambiance. Its a bit pricy but worth it, especially for special occasions.
While our steaks were delicious, they were more rare than medium rare. Our server wasn’t very friendly or attentive. We live near a steakhouse that isn’t as pricey and have always had excellent steaks and service. Maybe we are biased to that. Glad we went but probably badly wouldn’t spend that kind of money again
Great atmosphere and service! The food was just okay. The steak was over cooked and bland for a rib eye not what you would expect from a $48 steak. I would go here again and get something different
Late Mother’s Day early Father’s Day!
Dinner was amazing, as always!
Compares to the best in the metroplex.
It was my ‘Mom’s Day Getaway’ weekend and I wanted to have a nice, upscale dinner in Granbury. We had reservations at 5:45 and dinner was delightful!
The wait staff here need to forgo rearranging tables and sweeping up when patrons ate eating, just to prep the room for the next day. It was only at 7 p.m. and very few tables were eating. No excuse. This was very disturbing to our meal. Our waiter had no clue which wine was in stock and recommended a bottle that was not even available. Our salad was completely forgotten by BOTH our servers. No attempt made to check for a second drink, we had to ask. Slow to refill water. The restaurant only had five tables eating so no excuse for the very poor service. We will come back to Granbury and maybe have a drink and appetizer in the downstairs bar, but we will NEVER eat dinner upstairs in the restaurant again. A $230 meal for two with pathetic and disrespectful service. Pity, as this place has gotten a little worse every now for the past two years, but used to be excellent.
Excellent in every way, from the ambiance to the staff and the selections. Superb menu and exceptional service.
Wonder waiter and service. Delicious food. Wife and I loved it and will return. Thank you.
