Edwins Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We use Edwins a lot and this was for New Years Eve. They were busy which was great, but the choice of music really did not fit a restaurant of this type, and when live music came on later there was no way to have a quiet catch up with friends. Every table was shouting to try and make themselves heard.
Other than that, the food and service were excellent and each of the 4 of us tried something we had not had before, and we all had exceptional dishes, but the "egg on toast" was to die for!
The food, service and atmosphere at Edwin's are wonderfully impeccable in themselves. And then factor in that most of the employees are 'ex-felons' (a term I wish we need not have/use) learning a trade to carry them forward in life, and the entire experience becomes magical. I highly recommend the restaurant and commend their mission and vision.
I heard this was a great place for dinner with exceptional service which was totally true. We started off with sparkling wine and some had sparkling water as well. Lori tried the frog legs which she didn't feel had much seasoning/bland but her artichoke was tasty. Delorce had the endive salad at the suggestion of the server and I had the squash/apple soup. Soup had nice texture and very hot (heat not spice). We all had salmon which was excellent. The horseradish crust was perfect with the cucumber sauce. Two of us had the crème Brule and I had to also try the Benet which was excellent. Next time I will call ahead to order the 24 hour advance on the burger.
The food was god as always. The service overall was good. I decided that my server was very new and tenative with no personality. I am hopeful that with time and experience she becomes more confident. I was somewhat disappointed that one of the items I wanted to order was supposed to prepared table and I could not get it because they were busy. Ultimately I did get what I wished to order after a request was made to the owner but then it was cooked in the kitchen. the fun of the table side cooking was missing. Nonetheless I would go back and suggest to others that they go there.
Edwin's is an excellent restaurant! The ambiance is fabulous! It is dining the way it should be done, with attention to every detail from the valet parking, the hostess that checks coats, the wait staff that makes sure a bread plate or a water glass is always refilled, the cover that is immediately placed over a plate to keep the food warm should a guest have to leave the table for a few moments and the knowledgeable and attentive waiters. The menu and the food are outstanding! This is truly white glove service without the white gloves. Do not miss the opportunity to experience Edwin's, especially for a romantic date or to celebrate a special occasion. Your guests will certainly be impressed! The fireplace glowing on a cold winter evening adds to the coziness on a chilly winter evening!
The food is excellent, the service attentive, and the ambiance attractive [and relatively quiet!]. The mission of providing people who have been recently released from prison training in all aspects of the food service industry is highly commendable and deserves strong support and the customer gets a great meal and wonderful experience as well.
The food and service were outstanding, the ambiance enjoyable, the valet parking delightful (compared to most other valet services.) The fact that this institution is giving back to society makes this restaurant even more impressive. This restaurant deserves the patronage of all Clevelanders. Hats off to Brandon, the staff, and all of the men and women in training for this Cleveland Gem.
It was my first time there, but it will not be my last. When I viewed the menu online I thought it was a little pricey, but I was meeting a friend so I went. We had an marvelous time. I had the grouper and it was delicious. The servers were outstanding and their service was top notch. The only issue was when I ordered the lobster bisque, I didn't like it, but they took it back immediately and brought the soup of the day (complementary) I loved it. The bread tasted freshly baked and the butter was soft (that's a rarity) I highly recommend
this restaurant as someplace to eat when you have a special occasion. Keep up the good work Edwins.
a first rate experience all around. The bread dish and water glass was always filled , The waiter was attentive. The food was excellent especially the stewed rabbit, frogs legs and the snails. The main courses were excellent except the French style sea food soup which was very tasty but not authentic
Edwins is a Cleveland treasure. The food is always excellently prepared with a good variety offered on the menu. Le Burger is the most amazing, extravagant burger you'll ever experience. It's well worth trying on at least one visit. Our other favorites are the fish wrapped in crispy potatoes and the horseradish encrusted salmon. I recommend the poached pear tart for a delightful finish to your meal. We're so lucky to have such a high calibre restaurant in Cleveland with leaders that believe in the future of everyone.
The food was outstanding, as usual. Had the rabbit pie and lamb appetizers. Shared the chateaubriand with my date and it was exceptional. Dessert was creme brûlée and perfect! The service from everyone who came up to us was amazing but I must say that our server, Jose, was sub par. He also happened to be the bartender but he lacked a personality and the flair and attention to detail that I have come to expect from Edwin's. I was disappointed with this because I was really hoping to impress my date. Turns out he was impressed. Just not with Jose.
Wow. Each time we've gone to Edwin's, the experience only seems to get better! We've felt a strong need to support the mission of this non-profit, which educates formerly incarcerated individuals regarding all aspects of the restaurant industry, preparing them for a career in the restaurant business. To that end, all aspects of restaurant operations are included in the training. That was clearly evident during our meal - attentive, knowledgeable and exceedingly helpful staff willing to share their restaurant-related passions. Our meals were wonderfully prepared, including a unique artichoke preparation (appetizer), cold summer soups, and excellently prepared lamb chops, bronzino, and boudin, each accompanied by tasty vegetable preparations. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate pyramid (so decadent!), and the cherries jubilee (prepared table-side). The wine list was wonderful, with ample choices, including some unusual ones.
In all, we had a simply wonderful and perfectly paced dinner. We'll certainly be back!!
