The restaurant has a unique mission; to eat well and do good. Founded in 2007, the mission of EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Institute is to instill leadership skills in formerly incarcerated men and women through an education in the culinary arts.
Our aim is to change the face of re-entry through food and hospitality.
EDWINS was a wonderful evening. We ordered from the set menu which celebrated restaurant week. Our meals were great. I ordered the escargot appetizer, airline chicken with roast potatoes and Brussels sprouts. My husband ordered the green salad and roast salmon with haricot verts. The desserts were most excellent. Creme brûlée and pot de creme. The wine menu was extensive yet well sourced. We look forward to returning.
Enjoyed the artichoke app and the seafood app
Dinners were just ok, salmon, scallops, airline chicken. Kinda banquet foodish
Desserts were top notch!!
Service was awesome knowing the concept. Everyone was professional and friendly
Very dark- too many people standing around doing nothing and talking- food missed the mark on all levels. I understand the mission and support it although i would suggest re evaluating the diners experience.
A bit over hyped because of the background, but solid continental and French that "checks all the boxes". Wine list was nice and adequate in selection, but prices seemed a bit on the high side. My only real complaint was the host that seated us had is pants down so low and his shirt so untucked that when I sat down I was afraid he was seconds away from offering me sausage (if you get my drift). Not the best way to start, but the meal made up for it.
Best dining experience in Cleveland!!
This meal was one of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere was great and the food was fantastic.
Service was also great as it seemed everyone was working as a team to keep our waters filled and tend to our needs.
I would highly recommend.
Great time. The burger was amazing.
Without a doubt the best meal I have ever had - escargot, lobster bisque, chicken in wine sauce with Brussels sprouts and potatoes, and creme brûlée for dessert. My fiancee had a salad with goat cheese and apples and pears, scallops with delicious mushrooms, and a flourless chocolate mountain cake. The scenery and ambiance was spectacular and the service was fantastic. We briefly chatted with Brandon, the founder/owner, for a minute or two. He was super friendly and kind. What a truly special night and experience. The service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly and nice, and especially accommodating to make sure everything was gluten free for my fiancee who has celiac disease. What a blessing that we were able to share this night together to commemorate five years of our love. We cannot wait to go back
Service was poor. Food was ok but not special. Overall disappointing. But I do admire the concept.
The service was very slow. The music was very loud. The food was good. Because of confusion on our check we were given an after dinner drink which was very nice. We were there for 2.5 hours because of the slow service. We will return to see if there any improvements.
We visited Edwins for restaurant week. Our waiter Dominic was very attentive. I’m dairy free so had limited choices. The chicken dish was tasty but the chicken wasn’t as tender. I added the chef’s choice flight of wines to go with each course. They were perfectly matched and it was nice to not have the stress of choosing them myself. The homemade blood orange sorbet was tasty and refreshing. It came with Madeira wine.
One of my favorite restaurants. Never disappoints.
Went for Restaurant Week. Everything was perfect
Great experience. Nicole, our server was incredibly attentive. The Brussel sprouts with my meal were too undercooked. But the chicken was delicious!
Best Salmon i've had . . . great staff, professional and personable and just great food!
On a cool crisp damp Fall night, entering through the door opening into a large softly fire lit room, warm and welcoming, with an embracing pleasant hum of engaging activity, our Edwin experience began... engendering heartfelt memories of our visit to Paris. The prompt thoughtful attention from the staff led us to our well set reserved table. Opening with refreshing sparkling water, our server provided continuous, consistent and courteous attention serving us the best meal we have shared together this year. The potato and leak soup was savory and well seasoned accompanied by continuous slices of light airy flavorful homemade bread. The salmon was prepared to perfection, simply seasoned and flavorful, complimented with a rich butter white wine sauce. Our dinner finished with the best creme brûlée we enjoyed this year.
We highly recommend this establishment for a great meal, ambiance and service. In reflection, the mission and vision of the founder, demonstrates the intrinsic value of every human being, when given the opportunity for access, acknowledgement and empowerment...we all benefit from the experience and move forward together.
Amazing is the only word to describe the experience of Edwin’s. It is at the high end of my price level, but I recommend you save up and savor the excellence of a truly fine meal.
Staff was wonderful
Server Sean was helpful friendly informative about the menu
Great experience for the four of us
Because the restaurant is a training site, almost by definition the service is less than refined. I think more training in the areas of the history of the restaurant, the food selections and refined service including appearance attitude are in order.
Also, while the pricing is aligned with a quality French restaurant, this isn't one (it is a training site). Therefore a portion of each meal contributes to the training costs. Therefore I recommend that each receipt list a % of the meal and alcohol that is tax deductible to the customer.
This was our first time dining at Edwins; what an incredible experience! Service was outstanding! Food was expertly prepared and ambience was lovely. The best part of this restaurant is its mission to support the previously incarcerated. Look up the history on Edwins website; this is the best reason to dine at this restaurant. I’m inspired and will be back frequently!
Edwins always delivers.
The service was excellent and the food was outstanding! This is always a great place to bring out of town guests to introduce Cleveland to them. It never disappoints.
One of the finest restaurants anywhere. This includes NYC, London etc. This is a.true gem. The back story is unique. If you enjoy fine dining Edwins must be on you list.
Amazing restaurant. We love French food so my husband and I enjoy getting the escargot and foie gras but their Le Burger is known as the best in the city (and so much fun to watch them prepare table-side!) Love the intimate atmosphere, the decor. In and of itself, it's a fantastic restaurant. But the cause it supports and the whole backstory of Edwin's gives me so much joy every time we dine there. I highly recommend!
Service outstanding. Entire experience very well coordinated. everything very well prepared and timely. Wonderful evening.
Great service and good experience.
My husband and I ate dinner Saturday eve for my birthday. This was our first time at Edwin's, and we were pleasantly surprised. Our waiter, Dominic was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, and the portions were plentiful. We will definitely return.
We had a very nice experience. The food was very good as was the service. We loved the wine recommendation and the chocolate pyramid dessert was fantastic.
Nice evening. Food was very good, especially the sauces—I tasted 3 on different dishes, and they were phenomenal.
Service was very good until it became really busy, then not so good. One of the problems may have been one register—it looked like a backup.
Piped in music when we first arrived didn’t fit in with the restaurant. Live music later was terrific.
We had an amazing, decadent meal with our friends. It was our first time eating at Edwins and we could not have been more impressed. Thank you for a great evening!
Even though the place was full for Sweetest Day, the staff was very attentive and very pleasant.
The salmon was delightful! That sauce was amazing!
What a wonderful dining experience! The service was fantastic, the menu was sophisticated and full of choices, and the wine list was perfect.
It’s a wonderful restaurant will be back
Dining at Edwins is a true culinary pleasure ride. From the appetizers to the dessert we had attentive service and great food. One of our party selected the burger, which is sirloin and filet ground and prepared table side. Excellent experience, highly recommend it for special occasions.
The service and food were excellent. We had three generations there and the menu appealed to everyone. The selections are very unique so we got to try many different things. The carcuterie platter was fabulous as was the grouper entree and escargot appetizer. Husband and son got the the special strip steak and they loved it. Father got beef tongue appetizer and we all tried it - so good! Wonderful salads, soups and wine too. Souffle for dessert is not to be missed. We also got the bananas foster prepered tableside which was really fun. Service was outstanding and our water glasses were always filled which is one thing I totally notice. The only thing I would change is the music selection. It was kind of loud and random from rock to rap, didn't really go with the ambience of the French restaurant. But I would deinitely recommend Edwins!
Our waiter and the staff we very friendly and welcoming. We appreciated the interaction from various staff members. As always, Brandon was professional and very knowledgeable. He definitely makes you feel at home. The food was bar-none DELICIOUS! We enjoyed our first dining experience at Edwins and left with full stomachs and smiles on our faces. We will be back. Great concept. Great food. Professional staff.
Amazing. Exceeded my already high expectations, based on previous reviews.
Excellent choice for our anniversary. Terrific atmosphere, food, and very attentive staff!
