The restaurant has a unique mission; to eat well and do good. Founded in 2007, the mission of EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Institute is to instill leadership skills in formerly incarcerated men and women through an education in the culinary arts.
Our aim is to change the face of re-entry through food and hospitality.
Dinner: Monday - Wednesday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm, Thursday - Saturday: 4:00pm - 11:30pm. Closed Sunday.
We went to Edwin's to celebrate my boyfriend getting a job. It was the perfect place. The food was outstanding. The meats are so fresh and had such good flavor. The server knew exactly how to time our appetizer and entrees. Everyone on the staff was welcoming and genuine. We lucked out with perfect weather and sat on the peaceful patio. Thank you to everyone at Edwin's for making our dinner a special one we will remember for ever.
We were seated immediately. The ambiance was excellent. We especially enjoyed our waiter, George.
Amazing food for a fair price. Awesome service and, by eating at Edwin's you are supporting a good cause! 100% would recommend.
Fantastic restaurant, and the staff couldn’t have been better. I’ll be back!
Edwin’s offers a taste of and a look at CLE. The mission at Edwin’s is worthy of a visit and the food options are unique and dilectable. Bring a friend or group and feel good for all the right reasons.
Went with friends who have been here a few times --and recommended the restaurant. We live in Chicago but are from Cleveland. I read about the restaurant -- and the owner, who has a very interesting background. I applaud him for hiring/training people who are trying to reintegrate into society after being released from jail/prison. That being said, here are my comments.
The menu (mostly traditional French cuisine) is broad and interesting. Wines are overpriced and needs more selections by the glass. There are staff everywhere. Our server was polite and attentive -- but clueless. My guess is that he was new and still in training. He struggled -- but there were support people right there. What the service staff lacks in polish, the kitchen more than compensates for. The food is outstanding! Beautifully presented and delicious, portion sizes are appropriate. Execution is first rate.
My only serious criticism is the music. It was a combination of Michael Jackson and other very upbeat (and loud) artists. I mentioned this to Edwin when he walked by, while complimenting him on the food. His somewhat arrogant reply was "this is our music." Perhaps that is true -- but it is not his guest's music.
I enjoyed my visit. Staff was very courteous and friendly. Food was delicious. Everything was spot on.
Edwin's motto, "Eat Well. Do Good", is perfect for their restaurant. The food was fantastic, the service very good, and the after-dinner tour of the restaurant fun and informative. Our waiter, Jevon, seemed a bit shy in the beginning, but warmed up quickly and showed his personality. He and the rest of the wait staff were very attentive -- our water glasses were filled after almost every sip, and our bread plates were never allowed to go empty. The lobster bisque I started with was excellent, with lumps of lobster. and my husband's cold potato and leek soup was interesting. I greatly enjoyed my seared sea scallops, and he loved his bouillasbaise. He exclaimed several times throughout the meal, "This makes me so happy." The atmosphere and character of the place was what really made it special. We loved that so many servers and managers came by to check on us. For those who don't know, Edwin's was founded to "give formerly incarcerated adults a foundation in the culinary and hospitality industry while providing a support network necessary for their long-term success. Our mission three-fold: is to teach a skilled and in-demand trade in the culinary arts, empower willing minds through passion for hospitality management, and prepare students for a successful transition home." Check out their website for more information on their mission and to view the menu and photos.
From the moment we entered, we were greeted in a friendly manner, and seated guickly. Our waiter was new, but very courteous and took care of any needs. Dinner was above our expectations, from soup and salad to dessert!! There was no rush through the experience. It was very nice, and unusual for today's restaurants, not to be referred to as "you guys." We will be back to explore other dishes as well as for the friendly and competent service!
What an experience from start to finish. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the decor is one of kind. While we didn't sit inside, we did take some time to look around and enjoy the ambiance of a gorgeous restaurant. The outside seating was lovely as well. There is a large 2 section patio that sit quaintly under a tree and views of the bustling circle and neighborhood.
We were treated like gold the entire meal, our server was fantastic and the maitre d' was knowledgable and welcoming. Our meal was exceptional. Classic french food done perfectly. I can't say enough about the saucisse fruit de mer or the rabbit. Both were exceptional and exquisitely executed. The dessert was wonderful as well.
Any wine lover is sure to appreciate the extensive selection and varietals. As a novice, I was appreciative that the maitre d' took the time to suggest and nail and perfect bottle for us. Both of the cocktails we had were delicious.
We had a great time here and will absolutely return the next time we visit the city. If you are someone who likes to dine and not simply be fed, put this on your list.
Dinner was very nice and the waiter, who was new, tried very hard to please us. Very polite. Asked for support when not sure of our questions. We like the concept of the restaurant and training people to help them have positive futures.
Outstanding meal and supporting a great mission. Great evening on the patio.
Our second visit was as wonderful as the first! If we lived nearby, we would probably dine here at least once a week.
We came here for our anniversary and loved every moment! The service, food, drinks and overall ambience were wonderful. We especially enjoyed the table side service of making “le burger”! Thank you for a memorable night!
My favorite restaurant because wait staff is so pleasant and food is sooooo good.
Our first time having dinner at Edwin’s and they exceeded expectations by a mile. Easily our best dining experience since living in Cleveland.
We asked them to surprise us with entree selections and wine, which turned to even enhance the experience.
What a great place. We will be back.
The service at Edwins is excellent. I have always thoroughly enjoyed all the staff. I don't normally do French food due to the high caloric load, but Edwins does it well. I would say that occasionally an entree is a bit oversalted, so if that is not your thing, you might want to mention low salt.
This is a fabulous restaurant - wonderful service - a really great menu!- potato encrusted grouper was perfectly cooked - loved sitting outside except for the helicopter mom and her little girl next to us - not much you can do about loud diners! Will definitely go back again!
servers were great and food outstanding. we would return when next return to cleveland.
I took an town friend trained in French cooking to Edwins. She greatly enjoyed both the food and the menu. Later that evening I showed her the documentary film, "Knife Skills". I have no doubt she will remember and tell her friends back in in Telluride and Durango CO about her special evening.
Excellent service. Great menu. A great opportunity for the employees.
Two out of the 3 of us had "Le Burger" which is absolutely the best, and if you are lucky (as we were) made table side with a commentary of the process, great experience.
Edwins offers four different vegan options and our server made sure we didn't leave without desert. I'm glad we opted in to the chocolate pyramid!
Brought friends who had never been to Edwin’s. Our food was delicious. The service was wonderful & just by chance we happen to meet the director of the documentary “Knife Skills”. He was in town from NYC. Fun night!
Everything was very good. Our table was small and in a high traffic area. We were looking forward to a slow paced, relaxing dinner but the energy was a bit different than what we thought.
What a great experience.
There were 7 of us returning for our 50th high school reunion. Everyone approved of the choice and we all had a wonderful evening. The staff and the food were excellent. And eating outside after a rainy few days was the best!
Wonderful attentive service with an outstanding meal, we hope to return soon for another incredible Le Burger!
My husband had the grouper main course, and I had the scallops. His meal was better than anything we had eaten fresh in Florida, and my meal was probably the best one I have EVER had! The service was impeccable and perfectly timed. It was a magical evening. Thank you.
The staff tries so hard and it is so appreciated. The food is excellent and the cheese cart is unreal.
What a wonderful experience, very friendly and attentive, amazing food, creative drinks, and great wine list. Well worth the cost of an upscale restaurant. All on top of a very important social mission. We can't wait to go back again!
Edwin’s never fails to delight - good food, good service!
This restaurant and the premise behind it's founding are terrific. I think it is wonderful that the owner rehabilitate's people who were incarcerated and want to change their life. The food is excellent and provides a good variety for meat-lovers as well as vegetarians. I definitely recommend going to this French restaurant.
A special food experience. All delicious and interesting. Bread pudding with elderflower and blueberry ice cream is heaven on earth. Wait staff are attentive, earnest, real, and fun.
We have been wanting to come here for a long time. We live 80 minutes away. We began outside under a red parasol and had two of the drink specials for the day: a dry rose and a wheat beer with blood orange. And then many slivers of that wonderful bread with butter. Our waiter there was great: friendly and knowledgeable and off to find out when he didn't know the answer. We moved inside for dinner, and were so pleased with the menu. As a meat eater, married to a vegetarian (of French ancestry), we don't often get so many fine dining options. My husband had 4-5 choices, some vegan, plus soups and salads, and me? I had the rabbit. We each had a salad and then skipped entrees so we could have dessert, and even so, we took half our main dish home for supper the next day. For dessert, he had chocolate; I put in early for the Grand Marnier souffle, which our (second) waiter got a kick out of opening up to pour sauce in. He too was knowledgeable and friendly. It was my birthday, and I asked for no fuss, which they accommodated with just quiet wishes, and the slimmest of teeny candles lit on my dessert plate. If this place were closer, we'd be here a LOT oftener. And we will be back, just not soon enough for me. I've posted about our pleasure with the meal on Facebook, and out of state friends were charmed with Edwin's goals; local friends were glad to hear of vegan options, very local friends said, "Yes, so proud to have it in the neighborhood."
My husband has been wanting to go for years, sad to say this is our first time and will not be the last!
The service and food was fabulous, but the concept is the truly amazing part!
Thank you Edwins for an enjoyable dinner. We will be back.
We keep coming back because it's SO good! The cheese cart is to die for!! The "game" special is usually interesting and very good. My husband got the wild boar chop and loved it. I seem to always order the same main course: potato wrapped grouper - delicious! The table side bananas foster is also a must!! Great job Team Edwin's!
A very exceptional and caring staff who are very attentive and delicious meals!
Word of mouth sent us to Edwin's. The word was not wrong.
From valet parking to superb meals, the service was excellent and welcoming.
Our cocktails were well made and the ladies cosmos's were rated by them as top shelf.
We will be back.
We had been here about 1 1/2 years ago & had great food and service. This time not so good.
