Staff very kind upon our unavoidable late arrival. (25 min) for a 5pm reservation. From there it was just a rude rush to get us out. From appetizers arriving moments after ordering to the removal of all plates from the table at 6:14, while my son was still eating, the experience left a lot to be desired. Fine dining it was not. Steaks were all undercooked to what we ordered. Reminded me of an old steak I might have cooked after finding at back of freezer. But not as good. “Hand cut fries” appeared no different than typical diner fare, asparagus Gratin was simply steamed asparagus with a few sprinkles of grated parm. Our reservation noted we were celebrating an occasion and besides lack of any fanfare (why ask then?) we couldn’t even talk to our guest of honor as we were interrupted with “service” every 2 minutes. The desserts (chocolate mousse cake and tiramisu) were outstanding though served with lukewarm beverages.
Good average Steakhouse in Jersey City. It was Monday evening, not busy at all. What I remember from this place is. - we had a very nice bottle of wine for $44. Surprising well priced for a Steakhouse. - surprised about the approach from the waiter regarding the amount of tip we gave. I agree we were a little short but it should not be the waiters job it should be the general managers job to ask us…how was the meal, how was the service etc.
Food was very good. Service seemed off a bit. Appetizers came before cocktails. Will try it again.
It was just a little TOO dark
T bone steak was grizzly, served on a cold plate . Grumpy man in charge not really wanting us upstairs . Smell of mold or sewer walking in the door . Drinks and service was pretty good .
I like the steak but the server could have been kinder and more patient.
My son and I have eaten here a number of times and always enjoyed it. My second son and his family were visiting from HI and celebrating a combined anniversary and birthday on the same day (11/1). We had Sergio as our lead waiter whom we had serve us before. Everything was as perfect as could be. We had so many appetizers that only 3 of us could finish off the great steaks we had ordered, which by the way were perfectly cooked.
The menu is pricey but very complete and compared to NYC steakhouses a bargain.
Very easy to fall in love with this place.
Great food and service. The crab cocktail was yummy and the steak was amazing
Good was amazing very cute place waiters were very nice
Highly recommended 👌. Ask for Pat Donnelly the owner - Great host and friend -
Service, Wine and Drinks were all on point. The baked clams were too salty but were removed from the table and bill with no issue. The oysters rockefeller looked like I made them at home vs a chef presentation matters also they weren't that tasty but I ate it because I didnt want to complain again! The apps scared me off the high priced sides so I just stuck to what I came for and got the 20 oz Kansas Rib Eye I wasnt especially impressed and it looked kinda small but tasted good and was temped a beautiful medium+ just like I asked. I also noticed whoever lives upstairs bangs ALOT you can barely hear the drab sinatra style playlist over good conversation and intermittent banging, not the restaurants fault but just so ya know.
We were allowed to make a 9pm reservation on a Sunday . We arrived to find out they close at 9pm and turned us away.
You need to fix this . Really poor customer experience and unacceptable. Ruined our night ...
Our steak was undercooked, raw in center. Had to send it back. Steak didn't have much flavor. We ordered aged ribeyes. Steak sauce was excellent. Our hash browns were interesting and again not much flavor had to use the ketchup. Cheesecake dessert was very good and our service was attentive. We sat in the room at the rear of the restaurant and a large party of nine was very loud. So loud it made your ears hurt. Once they left it was a more enjoyable dining experience.
I’ve walked by this place for years and never went in. Got a reservation for 2 last night for dinner. Was about 10 minutes early so I figured I’d sit at the bar until our table was ready. The hostess was so nice and was able to actually seat us in just a few minutes. Got the petite filet and the porterhouse. Both cooked perfectly at medium. Sides and wine were great and even had a delicious after dinner espresso martini. Price was on the high side, but for the quality it was definitely worth it. Would rather pay the $ for high quality food with great service. Will definitely be back!
We always go to Edward's for special occasions, We love the outside seating across the street - though we feel bad for the staff running threw traffic. My husband always gets the crab cake it's so good and we shared the chopped salad another favorite. Go with the Gotham 32 oz. rib steak what a piece of meat ! I forget our servers name but they all are very good at their jobs. can't wait for another special day to go the bill is never cheap but the quality is amazing
Servers didn’t know how to pour wine without spilling it. Loud environment. Wobbly chairs, runny mashed potatoes. Ended seasons steak. Thick ajd warm beef carpaccio. Could go on and on. Super expensive but the quality and atmosphere are just not there.
So nice to be back at Edward’s! A classic that just keeps getting better. If you live steak, you will love Edward’s Steakhouse!
Beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere and excellent food. Great place to go to celebrate an occasion.
It was our first time there. We really enjoyed the food!! Felt the service could of been a little better!!
The Angus meat was cooked to perfection. Strongly recommend to stop by - NY strip boneless - medium well
Always a wonderful experience here, the food is so good, never rushed and the staff goes above and beyond.
This is a very old restaurant in an uncomfortably small space. Dining room was cramped and noisy. The service was poor and our server seemed annoyed after I pointed out that he served my wine in a dirty glass. In fact all of the wine glasses on the table were dirty. Appetizers and salads were served at the same time and we felt that we were rushed out of the dining room. As we were eating our dinner the server and manager were more occupied with setting up a table for twenty in our cramped space than they were in insuring that we were satisfied with our meal.
Food was ok but Edwards does not offer a good value or enjoyable dining experience for the prices charged. Very disappointing
Great ambiance. Service was on point. Apps were de-lish, especially the onion soup, escargot and filet mignon spring rolls. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Awesome place!
Great steaks and portion sizes. Apps are great too. Will definately visit again
Very enjoyable meal and service
The best steak house in Jersey City.
Great service! Amazing food!
Delicious food in a beautiful and romantic atmosphere
Great food & service!
Don’t miss an opportunity to eat here. A rare find as an authentic old fashioned steak house.
We started with the sampler for two appetizer. It was very delicious, but tiny portion sizes. But it was still worth it. We had the filet mignon for dinner. It was cooked very well, but not seasoned as much as other steakhouses. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and would go back to try other dishes.
After an absence of a year-and-a-half from this COVID-19 hell, it was just about tear-worthy to be able to come back to Edward's Steakhouse and see the people we remember from a lifetime ago. We ate in the back room on the first floor and maybe another table or two should have been removed for COVID-19 protections, but we were not shoulder to shoulder as once we might have been.
I had the Steak Au Poirve, creamed spinach a Cosmo with the Blue Cheese stuffed olives (YES! OLIVES!), a glass of Pinot Noir and the Creme Brûlée with a cappuccino. My wife and her sister shared the lamb chops, with sides of baked potato and garlic mashed potatoes. My niece enjoyed the Bone-in Sirloin and will be enjoying it for lunch for the next couple of days. Yes, the Lava Cake was worth it, too!
The meal would have been a little better if the spots in front of the restaurant were available, but the meal and service are so good, it's OK to walk a block or two to and from the restaurant.
Enjoy your experience!
We've ordered chopped salad and seared Ahi Tuna As starters and they are both delicious. The main course we had porterhouse for 2 and it's really amazing. Highly recommend for dinner.

Ive celebrated birthday and the staff cooks host have always been top notch I recommend this experience to anyone looking for good food and great environment.. now my kids are enjoying Edwards as I have many years. Food and service was great! It’s been awhile since we’ve experienced quality service eating out so we really appreciate the attentiveness and hustle of the staff.
Very nice excellent staff. The food was also excellent
The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
The Tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly and that was delicious. The steak sauce is also delicious.
The escargot is yummy. Everything was delicious!
Had a few people in town for business. What a great place to host a group of people. Great Food, Great Service and Great Atmosphere!
