Eduardo de San Angel Ratings and Reviews
Usually GREAT. Something really off. The specialty cilantro soup was not up to par. The eggplant appetizer was cold in the middle and not up to the usual standard. Even the great corn muffins were smaller. Such a disappointment and very surprising. Always loved Eduardo for the consistently excellent food. Hope it was just a bad night in the kitchen.
Was their 25th anniversary, looks like they haven’t changed a thing, dreary. Food was ambitiously described yet fell short. Plates were hot, no I mean HOT! Could not touch them the entire meal. What that means is the food was pre-prepared then tossed under the salamander to heat up. (I know this as I have worked kitchens before.) Just stringing together a bunch of exotic sounding ingredients (Mexican fungus, yeah) doesn’t make for haute cuisine, it’s execution and taste, both lacking here. Service was very good. Might give them one more try as people have told me how good it is. Stay tuned.
Five starts across the board! Nothing could be improved -- the ambience, the service, the food, the wine -- everything was perfect! Beautifully seasoned. My husband had cilantro soup (a must!) and skirt steak. I had a tasting menu that started with ceviche, then corn chowder, then snapper steamed in husk with tomatoes, capers, olives, then topped all off with mango sorbet.
Every time we dine here, we ask ourselves: why don't we come here more often?! This place is amazing!
Pleasant decor and excellent service. Really unusual menu with a fusion of Mexican and European. I had the slow roasted duck with Mango sauce - unique and delicious; my wife had the grilled yellowtail with black bean purée, rice and a bed of vegetables.
This is a must visit - unique combination of flavors- and a fabulous dessert list.
The pros: great food(not what you would expect from a typical Mexican restaurant) with unique preparations;, and a varied menu. Cons: wait staff that hovers, with others on staff wandering often through the rooms seemingly not doing anything in particular; food and drinks that are pricey. Overall, we felt rushed, and the meal was over within an hour (including appetizer, entrée, dessert and drinks).
We had a fantastic experience again! This time we had our adult children with their significant others, and they also raved about the ambience, service and food preparation! Every effort was made to accommodate our daughter, who eats only vegan food. Outstanding!
This was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last ! Paul our server was attentive and fun and seemed to anticipate every need. The food offerings were unique and authentic. It was meaningful that the chef and owner took the time to thank us for visiting. Everyone enjoyed the meal and we look forward to a quick return.
Our first experience at Eduardo de San Angel was very good and we look froward to experiencing more of the excellent menu selections. The wine list was good with a variety of vineyards and prices. Unfortunately, we were not tremendously hungry so we each chose a soup and both were tasty, well seasoned, flavorful, and delicious. The black bean soup's consistency was perfect, not too thick, and the cilantro soup, a special, was delicious. I enjoyed the poblano pepper stuffed with lots of crab and my wife had the shrimp appetizer. Both were hearty portions and well complimented buy the wine. Service was friendly, professional, efficient, and unobtrusive.
We were able to relax and enjoy our dinner and savor the wine without being rushed. We looked at the desserts but there was no room left, in spite of the very tempting assortment of sweets.
Eduardo San Angels is my all time favorite South Florida restaurant.
The owner and staff are charming, accommodating and appreciative of the
diner/diners ! The menu is versatile and the food is high quality and delicious!
When anyone comes to town - this is my go to spot ! I recommend San Angels
with the highest recommendation!
Excellent meal and excellent service from Robert. We had the cilantro soup (special), swordfish (special) and duck. The duck was one of the best my husband has ever had (and he loves duck). Would recommend this place without hesitation. In a little strip mall so too easy to overlook. We can’t wait to return!
8:45 PM Reservation and we were one of the only tables in the restaurant. We were rushed through every course of the meal and had the lights turned off on us by the end. So much for a relaxed dining experience. Just close earlier or don’t bother being open at all. Worst treatment I can recall in recent times from a place the has great reviews and was selected based on this. Shocking.
My Relatives were in town and heard of the restaurant and I told them they had to go as it is my favorite place in Florida. We went and everyone went crazy over the food. The flavors are amazing and the duck is outstanding. Great service and very quaint. Don't be fooled by the Strip Plaza location, the place is a must try. I had brought 26 people one time for a business dinner as I knew it would mean job security.
We have dined at Eduardo de San Angel for approximately 12 - 15 years and have never been disappointed. We are always recommending this restaurant to our friends and business acquaintances. Wayne and Paul take very good care of us in the dining rooms and Chef Eduardo Pria's food always wows! We trust their wine selections and heed their advice on what to order from their specials or the regular menu. Be sure to make this your next dining experience.
