Staff was awesome. Alittle loud with size crowd there was but food and cost made it not an issue. We will be going back.
As always, the Edison was great. Took guests from out of town, the setting cannot be beat. Service was excellent & the food was very very good!
Everything at Grove Park Inn is awesome. Edison is the inexpensive option
of the three restaurants. Salads, sandwiches, and light fair. Wonderful view
of the grounds and mountains. Good service. Good food. Outdoor seating and
bar are very busy at sunset. Get there early for a nice time watching the sun set over Asheville.
My husband and I made a reservation to eat here for our first night at the Grove Park Inn. We knew we would be traveling all day and wanted to stay on site. The ambiance is great, with indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated outdoors, which had a great view! The temperature was a little cool, but the heaters were running and there were throws for the customers to use, so we were comfortable. We were greeted quickly and got our drinks quickly, but we asked to wait to order our food so we could relax and enjoy the views for a few minutes. Big mistake! The service was painfully slow after that. I had crispy brie ravioli and a salad, and my husband had brisket ramen. Both were ok, but not fabulous. It seems like a great place, so I hope others have had a better experience!
The Edison is a beautiful bar/restaurant at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville NC. The views of the mountains is stunning. Great craft cocktails, friendly, attentive service, and a good menu. We had cocktails and several small plates including chicken lollipops, fried green tomatoes, and pretzel bread. All excellent. The main course salmon was well seasoned and nicely presented but sadly it was quite overlooked. The peach cobbler we shared for dessert was divine.
We enjoyed our meal at the Edison. The views are amazing and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Our waitress was extremely warm and friendly and offered items and suggestions.
We ordered drinks and appetizers and one of our party told the waiter what she was going to get as her entree. He was to come back to get the entree orders from us other two. The servers came back with drinks, appetizers and the single entree. Luckily the entrees filled us up and we didn't need to order our steaks. Unfortunately the appetizers were pretty bland!
Our desserts were really disappointing and not at all like their descriptions on the menu.
Also we had specified as asked on the reservations that we were there for a wedding anniversary - but there was no recognition or mention of this during our evening there.
The view was awesome though!
View is fabulous... which is why you go to this restaurant. Go at sunset and be amazed. Food is average. Not a lot of selection. Drinks (martinis) are great!
Relaxing evening watching the sunset, enjoying drinks, a lovely dinner and terrific server.
Perfect night. Good service, helpful staff and gorgeous view
Incredible views with wonderful food and service. We went for our 3 year anniversary and it was perfect. Prices are very reasonable too!
Outstanding food, service and great views at sunset!
Every time I’m at the Grove Park Inn I make sure I make reservations and have dinner at the Edison. The food and view are just amazing and the staff are top notch.
Very nice views, but absolutely terrible service and average food. Place was not crowded, yet took almost 15 minutes for the waiter to arrive and take drink orders. Another 15 minutes to deliver them or even get a water. Appetizer arrived one hour after being seated at our table. Waiter screwed up and had an extra entre salad delivered to the table. He acknowledged the error, but it still showed up on the bill.
Service was extremely slow and the food was overpriced for what you received. I ordered the ramen and it was completely flavorless.
We were in town for the day and decided to have a nice early dinner after a long day of shopping. Table was on the deck overlooking the mountains and was very gorgeous settings. We ordered a nice bottle of wine, it arrived and was poured. We then looked over the dinner menu, and the waitress came with the specials for the night. Steak sounded good so we decided to split that entree along with the salad. Salad was very good, we asked for bread for the table but the restaurant doesn't serve bread, so we ended up buying the pretzel bread which was good, but we felt bread should be added to the overall menu. After the main course came we didn't see our waitress until the steak was completed, we were both wanting a glass of red wine with dinner, but never got it. We then at the end saw our waitress and told her but got I'm sorry I din't come back by. When the bill arrived I was shocked at the price of the main entree, since it was very good but not for the price they were charging for it. Was always I guess you learn your lesson, perhaps we should've ask for the price of the special but you would think they would've told us. View was great, but service was very poor in our eyes.
Great pub & restaurant in Grove Park Inn. Food was very good & good selection. My husband loved his burger but said the onion rings were best that he ever had. He also liked their beer selection. I had a delicious salad. Loved the view of sunset outside in the cool mountain air!
Not a very good menu selection. Over-priced. The view of the mountains and the drink selection is the selling point, not the food.
Excellent dinner experience. We were given a great table on the porch for a beautiful view of the sunset. Our serve, Lorne, was outstanding! Great recommendations and attentive. We both ordered a special: a steak and potatoes entree that was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We were drinking rum and cokes that were a perfect mix. We also started with nachos that we will order again, and desserts. My husband loved the pecan pie and I had the peach cobbler. Both were very good. Overall, s great night!
Great food. Would recommend stopping by.
Beautiful evening. Great food and service. Would go again.
We love the Edison! The best outdoor seating with a beautiful view! Food is delicious from the starters down to the desserts! Highly recommend!
Excellent outdoor dining with great views of the mountains. Great service and food. Waitstaff attentative but not overly so in your face. Fun atmosphere.
Beautiful restaurant. Could sit there all day!! Great food choices at reasonable prices.
We loved everything we had here. We started with fried green tomatoes and the bacon, order it!! My husband had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, yum, I actually ordered the nachos which is a small plate and it was so good. It was definitely more than enough for an actual entree. Drinks were good too. The hoploma is a must have. Views are gorgeous and service was great.
On the advice of a friend we made a reservation at Edison’s. Glad we did! We had chicken lollipops, corn chowder, Cesar salad and shrimp & grits. Chicken, Chowder and salad were perfect! Shrimp & grits came out cold. Saying it was lukewarm was being very generous. Hated to do it, but we had to send it back. Kitchen prepared a new dish for us and it was outstanding! Wait staff apologized profusely & gave us our appetizer gratis. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and view. Would recommend to others.
I know it's a resort hotel, but $15.00 for a grilled cheese sandwich?! Oh, my bad, it had one strip of bacon on it, that must explain the price. For touting craft ales, they have a ridiculously small draught beer selection. Our server, Charlie, tried WAY too hard to be personable and just came off super creepy. The highlight was the view of the Blue Ridge mountains at sunset. That almost was worth the price.
grossly overpriced menu
Our meal was fantastic. We were seated right away, and although there’s not a bad seat in the restaurant, we were seated by the end of the restaurant and the views were simply incredible. Our waiter, Charlie, was charming and attentive assuring that our dinner was perfect.
Hostess lied to me about table availability.. I asked to speak to manager... 2 hours later after eating meal and drinking a bottle of wine , I was never approached by management?
This 22 year old thought by blowing me off I would just forget catching her lying to me...
Bottom Line.. after 7 pm. Forget about dealing with anyone over the age of 23 with 1 year of hospitality experience..
What a joke... hope the rest of my stay is better
Had dinner as Sun was going down. Sun was beaming directly on our table. Very uncomfortable with glare and hot temperature. Moved tables. Still hot. No sun blocks or shades on building. Service was poor as waitress appeared annoyed that we moved tables which we did in first two minutes. Food was mediocre. Had oysters which were spongy. Then had salmon caesar and salmon was undercooked. Prices were sky.
The sunset views are amazing!! The service was good. The food was lacking for the price. I ordered the kale salad with watermelon radish, grilled cauliflower, and paid extra to have shrimp added. The salad consisted mostly of a big bowl of kale and four shrimp. Disappointing! The gazpacho was thin and bland. the best part was the pretzel bread appetizer, small but yummy. My husband's bison burger was thin and unimpressive. Would come back for the views and atmosphere!
We requested - and received - outside seating so we could view the sunset and we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset! Our server, Jason, was friendly and helpful. Our food choices were good. Prices were moderate. Very pleasant evening.
The view is 5 stars - beautiful view of the mountains. The food just 3 stars
The food was very good. The service was excellent. The wine list was a bit pricey. However overall a very pleasant evening.
The cocktails were delicious ($15 ea.) and the fish special was liked. However, two people in our group ordered the mega-bison burger for $17 ea. and it was a joke. The cooks do not temperature check any of their burgers and those came out extra well-done. It is hidden by additionally toppings that accompany the burger like an over-easy egg, bbq, mozzarella sticks (why?). The bison was more like a breakfast sausage patty at best.
Our food left a little to be desired but the view and the service were on point.
Stunning views, excellent service and good was stellar.
Lovely setting- overpriced food
Food was average with the menu limited to mostly burgers and sandwiches, but the view is AMAZING!
