Excellent outdoor dining with great views of the mountains. Great service and food. Waitstaff attentative but not overly so in your face. Fun atmosphere.
We loved everything we had here. We started with fried green tomatoes and the bacon, order it!! My husband had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, yum, I actually ordered the nachos which is a small plate and it was so good. It was definitely more than enough for an actual entree. Drinks were good too. The hoploma is a must have. Views are gorgeous and service was great.
On the advice of a friend we made a reservation at Edison’s. Glad we did! We had chicken lollipops, corn chowder, Cesar salad and shrimp & grits. Chicken, Chowder and salad were perfect! Shrimp & grits came out cold. Saying it was lukewarm was being very generous. Hated to do it, but we had to send it back. Kitchen prepared a new dish for us and it was outstanding! Wait staff apologized profusely & gave us our appetizer gratis. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and view. Would recommend to others.
I know it's a resort hotel, but $15.00 for a grilled cheese sandwich?! Oh, my bad, it had one strip of bacon on it, that must explain the price. For touting craft ales, they have a ridiculously small draught beer selection. Our server, Charlie, tried WAY too hard to be personable and just came off super creepy. The highlight was the view of the Blue Ridge mountains at sunset. That almost was worth the price.
grossly overpriced menu
Our meal was fantastic. We were seated right away, and although there’s not a bad seat in the restaurant, we were seated by the end of the restaurant and the views were simply incredible. Our waiter, Charlie, was charming and attentive assuring that our dinner was perfect.
Hostess lied to me about table availability.. I asked to speak to manager... 2 hours later after eating meal and drinking a bottle of wine , I was never approached by management?
This 22 year old thought by blowing me off I would just forget catching her lying to me...
Bottom Line.. after 7 pm. Forget about dealing with anyone over the age of 23 with 1 year of hospitality experience..
What a joke... hope the rest of my stay is better
Had dinner as Sun was going down. Sun was beaming directly on our table. Very uncomfortable with glare and hot temperature. Moved tables. Still hot. No sun blocks or shades on building. Service was poor as waitress appeared annoyed that we moved tables which we did in first two minutes. Food was mediocre. Had oysters which were spongy. Then had salmon caesar and salmon was undercooked. Prices were sky.
The sunset views are amazing!! The service was good. The food was lacking for the price. I ordered the kale salad with watermelon radish, grilled cauliflower, and paid extra to have shrimp added. The salad consisted mostly of a big bowl of kale and four shrimp. Disappointing! The gazpacho was thin and bland. the best part was the pretzel bread appetizer, small but yummy. My husband's bison burger was thin and unimpressive. Would come back for the views and atmosphere!
We requested - and received - outside seating so we could view the sunset and we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset! Our server, Jason, was friendly and helpful. Our food choices were good. Prices were moderate. Very pleasant evening.
The view is 5 stars - beautiful view of the mountains. The food just 3 stars
The food was very good. The service was excellent. The wine list was a bit pricey. However overall a very pleasant evening.
The cocktails were delicious ($15 ea.) and the fish special was liked. However, two people in our group ordered the mega-bison burger for $17 ea. and it was a joke. The cooks do not temperature check any of their burgers and those came out extra well-done. It is hidden by additionally toppings that accompany the burger like an over-easy egg, bbq, mozzarella sticks (why?). The bison was more like a breakfast sausage patty at best.
Our food left a little to be desired but the view and the service were on point.
Stunning views, excellent service and good was stellar.
Lovely setting- overpriced food
Food was average with the menu limited to mostly burgers and sandwiches, but the view is AMAZING!
STEAK WAS POORLY COOKED. HAD TO SEND BACK TWICE. CHEF DID NOT KNOW HOW TO COOK NY STRIP. WAITER WAS VERY APOLOGETIC AND ACKNOWLEDGE STEAK WAS INCORRECTLY COOKED POORLY TWICE. STAFF WAS GREAT.
Ate there two nights while at the inn. The oysters were so good we had them both nights. Good eclectic menu, great service, and let's not forget the view.
The ambiance is wonderful. Great views, great service, good food and drinks. A wonderful time! Will come back again for sure
Fantastic food, environment, and service. Not your normal menu. Loved sitting outside enjoying the summer weather.
We were staying at the Omni Grove Park with Friends and went celebrate our anniversaries. They sat us outside to take in the magnificent view of the mountains. The food was good from the burger to the Shrimp and Grits. We'd recommend.
Great casual food in a perfect setting overlooking the mountains at sunset
Wonderful meal, great service & lovely view. The menu was comprehensive, and there were so many great options. We were so pleased! It was our favorite meal while we were at Grove Park Inn.
The Edison's view is spectacular but the food is certainly not a value. Tiny portions and high prices. The recipes are okay in most cases but the fried green tomatoes were a total disappointment. Hard crusted with a fried covering rather than dusted and fried.
My son and I traveled to Grove Park Inn and were delighted to eat at Edison. We ate out on the terrace- spectacular view, and that's even an understatement. The food was great, uncommon, on trend, and just delicious. My only reason for a 4/5 star on food was that my son's dinner-Brisket Ramen was both extremely hot in temperature and more spicy then the menu would leave you to believe. He did enjoy it, but scalded his mouth pretty good. Would definitely go back, next time with hubby, who is a picky eater but could easily find something on the menu.
Disappointed. Though the young man was friendly, he was obviously not used to the hospitality business of service and attentiveness. We had to constantly be looking for him for one thing after another. The food was only fair but nothing to write home about. Sorry, trying to be honest.
We had a great lunch while in town on vacation.
We really enjoyed our visit as the view is spectacular. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was good. We filled up on appetizers - the pretzel fondue and fried green tomatoes. While the portion of fondue was small, we loved the beer cheese dip. The fried green tomatoes was a later portion and were tasty. When the staff found out it was our honeymoon, they gave us a complimentary treat! We will definitely be back.
Wedding anniversary. Very enjoyable. One of our favorite places to go.
Gorgeous sunset views off the patio. The Praline Bacon and Asheville Beer Flight can’t be missed!
Kitchen had malfunction. Waited over an hour for our entrees (a hamburger and chicken sandwich). Mgr apologized and said the entrees would be on the house (free) because of the delay. Instead they charged for the entrees but not for the nachos appetizer (which came quickly). Did not bother to find manager to ask about the bill since we had now been at the restaurant for over 2 hrs. Next night we ate at restaurant off the hotel premises.
Food wasn’t what we expected and service was bad. No drink refills- barely saw server. It was Fourth of July and I’m assuming she wasn’t happy about working.
Outside area needs sun shield for late afternoon dining or tables need to be reorganized out of direct sun. Very uncomfortable. Waitress very knowledgeable and attentive. Food so-so. Wouldn’t visit again.
Very enjoyable.Great view from our table. Our waiter Jason was excellent.
You can not beat the view and the service at the Edison.
Eaten here twice this visit as its one of the few food offerings on site @ Grove Park Inn. Both times service was abismal, slow, waited both times 5-10 minutes for water/waiter ..menu is fine, but doesn't change, so therefore limited...beautiful space, but only that detail is worth complimenting
Ran out of two items we ordered, but served a with free dessert.
The kitchen was asleep! Took more than one hour to get bowl of soup & grilled cheese. Waiter was good and apologetic. Food good but delay was intolerable
The food was delicious and the view was gorgeous. We were disappointed by the service however, we came out relatively unscathed, with only a few wine stains on a dress and cardigan from a spilled glass of red wine.
