Edison - Omni Grove Park Inn Ratings and Reviews
I really struggled with my ratings on this one and whether I would recommend this restaurant to a friend. Let me start by stating that our service was terrible. Our server was inattentive, flippant and did not seem to care that she was there to serve us. Perhaps that colors my overall impression of the restaurant. The food was good but frankly not great. We had the Kobe beef meatloaf and the burger. Presentation of the food was very good. Atmosphere was quite nice. I would recommend the restaurant if you are staying at the Inn and do not want to go out on a frigid night into Asheville (like us). With that all said, I would be willing to give it one more try on our next visit back to the Grove Park Inn.
Absolutely loved it! Everyone was extremely friendly and obviously customer service oriented. The food was great, atmosphere unbeatable and our waiter David (do not know his last name) was impeccable. He was warm, friendly and didn't rush us and the place was busy. Barely a wait for the food. Everything was PERFECT! Coming back in March with my husband for our 25th wedding anniversary. Spectacular!
We were surprised and disappointed by the lack of options on the menu, it is a very limited menu. Plus the few specialty main courses they had were SUPER expensive; single person servings of main courses in the $50 - $60 and more range. What we had was decent enough but not a great value and just wished we had some more choices.
On the plus side the service was great. We were seated on a very cold night next to a large (certainly closed) window and after a bit realized we were going to be cold. Our nice waitress promptly found us a table by the large and roaring fire place in someone else's station where we got great service. Staff was great all around.
We have dined at the Edison several times before and decided we should go back more often. The food and service are consistently above average. I had the southern style Cobb salad - different from anything I've had before; delicious and huge. And we never tire of the wonderful view!
Wonderful restaurant at the Grove Park Inn. We stayed at the inn for New Years Eve, and went to the bar at Edison in the afternoon for mussels and a beer while watching football. We went back to our room and got dressed up for the evening and back to Edison for a fancy dinner. Service and food were wonderful both time. It is upscale, but hip. Loved it! There is an amazing outdoor terrace with lounge furniture and TVs if the weather is nice!
12/24- We arrived and waited well over 10 minutes before walking out of the restaurant. No one ever came by our table to acknowledge us, nor to even bring us water. After reviewing the menu over and over while waiting and noticing there were only a couple of vegetarian items on the menu, we got up and walked out. Vegetarians do not only just eat salads! Not a pleasant experience considering all the other great restaurants in Asheville.
And, to top it off, parking was expensive $20.00 for less than an hour. Are you kidding me!
I’ve been to this restaurant every visit at the Grove Park Inn. The server was very friendly and we received excellent service. Unfortunately, everything we ordered was a big disappointment. One dish was not even edible and we could not eat it. I’m not sure I’d return after my experience last night.
Kobe meatballs were supposed to have spicy barbecue sauce on them. Instead it was ketchup. I asked about it. They said they were out of the bbq sauce and substituted ‘tomato gravy’. 😂😂. My ketchup addicted niece tasted it and said ‘ketchup with a little spice mixed in’. We will never forget ‘tomato gravy’. I looked it up. It’s a real thing, but still tasted just like ketchup.
Steaks were very good.
This restaurant is in a lovely setting that overlooks the grounds of the Grove Park Omni. The setting is not sufficient when it is not paired with equally appealing food. Salad selection on the menu was not an interesting one, which is surprising for a lunch menu. I chose the kale salad with an add-on of 4 shrimp that cost an extra $10.00. Had it been a flavorful salad, I would not be complaining...it was not flavorful! I received a generous bowl of large kale leaves; some sliced radishes; a few pieces of cauliflower that appeared to have been microwaved instead of pickled and some pumpkin seeds. The pumpkin seed dressing was pretty but didn't have much taste. The bowl was so filled with kale leaves that it was difficult to cut them into small enough pieces to comfortably begin eating. Leaves kept popping out onto the table and once they were covered with dressing, they were still tough and chewy. I have had kale salad countless times in a variety of restaurants and never have I been served anything like this! I saw no point in complaining to the waiter, as he was not the person responsible for composing such an unappetizing item.
My sister ordered the hamburger and was very pleased with it - two juicy patties of meat with lots of melted cheese. She commented that it was one of the best burgers she has eaten anywhere.
Service was attentive and polite, so no complaints there. If you want a good burger, a lovely view and you don't mind paying a higher price you will enjoy lunch at the Edison. If you are looking for creative, tasty and healthy lunch options you may want to eat elsewhere!
The server was great, very interactive with us, and attentive. The food was excellent. My wife had the 8oz filet, and I had the Kobe beef meatloaf. We were seated right by the window overlooking the outdoor patio, with the view of downtown Asheville at night in the distance. We were at GPI for her 60th BD celebration and were at Edison the night before the BD. We would go back there to eat next time we are at the Inn.
Overall gave it 4 stars only because I requested a fireside table w my reservation. I checked into GPI and requested to see the table and it was as requested. Got to restaurant for reservation and our table had been given away. Sat at bat tables which were great for football games-Patriots won, place went wild. We all had smashed burgers and they were very good, fries great also. Prices were very fair. Can eat outside weather permitting w fab view !
My fiancé and I approached the host station where two employees were standing. For at least a minute neither one of them greeted us as they messed on the computer. It was over 10 minutes before our waiter came to our table. Once we got our food it was terrible. I had a Ceaser Salad with grilled chicken. The dressing tasted like it had spoiled and the chicken was cold in the middle. This was the third year in a row that we have come to Edison’s but we will never be coming back.
Disappointing meal at GPI. Long wait for food to arrive. Some entrees were missing ingredients. At their price point, the food and service should be wonderful. Suggestion: stay at the hotel (also pricey), go to the spa and have dinner, off property, at one of Asheville’s fabulous restaurants.
My husband and I did a date lunch and this was our first time there. The valet parking, and the waiter were great!! The food was awesome!! The view was breathtaking and I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!! Thank you so much for a great afternoon!
My wife and I have dined at Edison twice in last 6 weeks. We enjoyed the view and ambiance. Waiters were very nice and helpful but food from kitchen was very slow getting to us. Entrees each time were fair but the dessert menu and actual desserts each time were so bad we thought about asking for refund.
