Edison - Omni Grove Park Inn
Great food, great service and fantastic views!
Becca our server was fantastic- food was excellent. Of course the sunset was spectacular. Highly recommend
Beautiful surroundings; great way to spend an evening
Would like more variety on the menu--almost everything has bacon in it and there are few health-conscious choices. But the view is incredible.
Great views of the mountains from our table. Recommend requesting outside seating to appreciate the view. Service was great and the food was delicious. Menu was well priced given the ambiance.
The atmosphere was very nice sitting in the open part of the restaurant. Our server was extremely nice, informative and pleasant.
These folks went out of there way to accommodate us after our wedding !!! Jason was amazing server
Our party of 3 had a 7:15 reservation on May 31 for “outdoor seating” which is in the open part of Edison, but all under-roof… perfect weather, beautiful sunset. Our server, Nicky, was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly, but not overbearing. One martini ordered… well made in a chilled glass. We shared the Local Beets appetizer… delicious, served over fabulous grits. All of our entrees were delicious: the lobster sandwich, that day’s fish special, a salad with chicken breast. Wine selection is adequate, tiered by price, with quality selections. No dessert. The décor is beautiful modern Craftsman; lots of large screen TVs in the enclosed areas with oversized sofa seating around large fireplaces and TVs, but not an overly sports-bar vibe. It’s a bit pricey, but this is a special setting with an excellent kitchen, bar and ambiance… worth the price… a very nice dining experience. I'm a local, and this is high on my "top spots" list.
The food was great, the service was excellent and the views were amazing. This place is a must when visiting Asheville.
Our server Stephanie was amazing!! She let us stay as long as we wanted to watch the sunset over the mountains. It was an amazing experience.
Edison at Grove Park is a great onsite pub with an extraordinary view. We sat outside and had the smashed cheese burger...it was great. Only negative, they were out of my favorite beer - D9 out of Cornelius, NC. Be sure to make reservations - very popular!
Great way to spend an anniversary dinner. Service and views were just wonderful. Thank you!
Service and a view. Food was good.
Beautiful place and resort like. Ate at Edison’s outdoors. Perfect ambiance but menu very expensive for the food. Definitely paying for the mountain backdrop
Beautiful views. Delicious food!
LOVE everything about Grove Park Inn. Several places to eat on the property but we chose Edison's. We sat on the covered patio and thoroughly enjoyed! The scenery, staff and food were all wonderful. Don't miss Grove Park Inn if you go to Asheville!!!...And the Spa is wonderful!
Great views and food. Good wine selection. Alex, who was our waitress was a great server and personable.
The food at the Edison was outstanding. The service was amazing. Our waiter Lorne was superb. The only issue was that we were seated outside in the sun. There is no relief from the sun ANYWHERE outside as the evening moves on the whole area is sunny and HOT! I would suggest indoor seating. Other than that it's AMAZING!
Great service, great food, and what a view!! We were not overnight guests at the hotel, but we were greeted with respect and friendliness no matter where we went in the hotel. Beautiful experience. Can't wait to return to Asheville and visit Grove Park Inn again. Edison's is highly recommended.
We were in Asheville for a wedding. The bartender at Bistro Bar in our hotel recommended Edison. Later at the wedding reception others that had been recommended it. So, we decided to give it a go. Other than the chaotic valet, the restaurant was incredible! We sat outside and had an awesome view, intentionally booking or reservation around sunset time. Our server, David, was fabulous, recommending a beer that I might like and allowing me to sample before committing. His recommendation was spot on and I had a glass. We stuck with simple fare. Hubby had a burger and I had the Poor Boy (basically, a roast beef and swiss (?) sandwich). David even honored my odd request of sour cream with my fries instead of ketchup. David kept our water glasses full and checked on us without being intrusive or seeming like he was trying to get us out to fill the table again. Great food, Awesome view, Outstanding service. Thanks David - you were great!
We were seated in a timely manner. The service was very good. No long wait for drinks, appetizer or dinner. Nice evening overall. Only suggestion is to get new napkins. They are in atrocious, worn out condition. Pilled and rough. I was afraid it would leave lint all over our clothing.
Pleasant surprise at the Grove Park on our 40th wedding anniversary weekend. We expected casual dining with beautiful open air views, but food and service blew us away. Our waiter educated us about their wonderful beer selection and picked out two delicious local interesting ones for us. We then split the Caesar salad with big hunks of Reggiano shavings. My husband had the NY strip special, a 14 Oz sous vide steak perfectly cooked with a sauce of bourbon, vanilla and sorghum. My short ribs were an amazing slow cooked comfort food, and we were also treated to a gratis dessert of macarons and whipped cream over a celebratory chocolate square. Our waiter was attentive and well versed in all aspects of the meal. Very impressed with The Edison considering the restaurant was packed and there are 5 weddings at The Grove Park this weekend! Make reservations and request an outdoor table for spectacular views!
Server was efficient and very pleasant.... as all staff at GPI
This is my very favorite place to eat... top notch food and a truly incredible view. If you eat here, you are sure to make many special memories
Beautiful restaurant. Gorgeous views ! Delicious food! We sat outside, and enjoyed every minute!
Wonderful meal and service for a special occasion. Highly recommend!
We are from Seattle and I have been in Hickory working touring a new furniture company our company is bringing on. My partner joined me and we had a few vacation days in Asheville. The Grove House in is an architectural wonder and a joy for us to see. Our server was Lisa in the Edison restaurant and she is definitely s keeper for you Food was amazing and the ambiance was outstanding.
We arrived early for our reservation and were seated in the most perfect location...out of the sun with an amazing view of the mountains! We enjoyed some craft beer and some wine, and enjoyed the chicken lollipops, ceasar salad, grilled cheese and tomato soup. Cody was awesome....very attentive, such an enjoyable person to talk with! He made our afternoon so pleasurable...he anticipated our every need and checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed! One of the nicest afternoons ever! Thank you, Edison and especially Cody!
Love the view and the beauty of the grand old hotel. Service was very friendly and quick. Took my wife for date night for a sunset view. The vegetable plate came out seemingly within seconds after ordering, even before the wine was poured. The Crunchy Yard Bird sandwich is a complete misnomer. Absolutely no crunch to that bird, and the roll was stale. My wife had a $25+ lobster roll that smelled fishy. In addition, right below us, there was a cocktail hour for a conference where a speaker droned for what seemed like an hour. I absolutely recommend for cocktails overlooking the mountains, but would avoid the food.
Breathtaking views, delicious food and wonderful service-- a no brainer to do a sunset dinner when you are in town to visit the mountains of Asheville NC.
Cody was our server- great down to earth guy. Great sense of humor and let us have our alone time but was also very attentive. The sunset was gorgeous and the vibe was classy but relaxed. I got a steak and potatoes special and it was AMAZING.
Our waitress was new but you’d never know it. She was very professional and very accommodating. Loved the atmosphere and experience overall.
Our waiter was amazing. That combined with watching a gorgeous sunset on the sunset terrace made for an excellent date night!
First experience at Edison was excellent. Great beer selection and pub food with a few selections for dinner entrees priced between $18-28. I was excited to return and keep sampling their beer and menu.
Second experience left a very bad taste. They offered two specials, a NY Strip Steak and a Lamb Shank. No premeal bread or salad, just the entree. Steak arrived with four small red potatoes cut in half. No vegetables or anything else, meat and potatoes, period. The lamb shank was served on cheese grits mixed with vegetables. Both meals were fine, nothing special or memorable.
My error was not asking the price point of the specials. Strip and potatoes were $52. Lamb shank and grits $46. This is in a brew pub, not the main restaurant in the Omni Grove Park Inn.
I have frequent some of the finest steakhouses in many cities and paid prices like this without blinking.
My advice is stick to the menu or ask about the price point of the specials. Value of the specials was one star.
We were very disappointed with our experience at the Edison… We have dined there several times in the past, however it’s probably been a year since the last time. The prices have gone up substantially and the quality and quantity of food has changed substantially. One of the items we had were shrimp and grits, which in the past have been excellent, However they have changed the recipe and it is nowhere as good as it used to be! The prices on all items on the menu have increased & the portions & quality have decreased. The Edison used to be our “go to” for special occasions & when guests came into town ... unfortunately it will no longer be our “go to”:(
We will definitely go back to Grove Park Inn… But it will be for a beer on the patio, for the view, & then somewhere else to eat!!! Asheville has so many other great options thankfully!!
Very disappointed in the Edison!!!
Executive summary: Go for the view, be SURE to reserve an outdoor table and be there for the atmosphere as the food is disappointing.
1. Our server (David) was EXCELLENT. Thoughtful, well educated on cuisine, timely and personable.
2. The setting was the BOMB. We often go to Grove park for the atmosphere at times when it isn't mobbed with tourists.
3. The Butternut Squash soup was simply outstanding as was the Beet/Grit salad.
4. The Mushroom Tart my girlfriend ordered was bland, flat tasting and had a crust that was in the realm of cardboard which, since it was a machine made crust was to be expected. The "poached egg" was crusted in some sort of bread crumb (not sure how it stayed on in the poaching water ;-P) and overcooked.
5. The veggie burger, at $15 was a complete ripoff. It was sized like a large "slider" and while the flavor was good was completely underwhelming and I went home and ate more food.
6. The French fries, at a level of dining such as this should be hand cut or, at the very elast not the processed, coated with "spicy, crusty, woozzle" kind of fries you get at the ball park...
In the end, I have dined at GPI numerous times and, of late, three times at Edison's. All three have been, at best, merely, ok. At $90 for a table of four to eat burgers and chicken sandwiches (no alcohol was purchased), the food severely underperformed.
While I will always return for the view, and great service like David provided. I will not make eating there a primary goal.
Beautiful dinner with friends on the porch. The weather and mountain views are wonderful. The food and our server were outstanding!
Perfect view, great menu and reasonable! Could not ask for more!
For an Easter meal, the chefs and servers managed very well.
What a fantastic dinner! Edison’s at Grove Park Inn.
We had delicious grilled cheese with tomato soup and my friends had the special-trout in an iron skillet. All was delicious!!!
Our server was excellent, she personalized our dinner, very fun and friendly! (Wish I could recall her name. ) Try the hot chocolate for an after dinner dessert drink.
Love, love, love Grove Park Inn!
