Edible Canada at the Market is a full service bistro, focusing on new Canadian cuisine. Unpretentious, welcoming and accessible, we celebrate the best food, wine, beer and spirits from across Canada. Our open kitchen, 150 seat bistro features a private dining space, expansive patio and take-out window for tasty bites and Salt Spring Coffee to go. We are open daily for lunch and dinner, plus weekend brunch.

At our popular Market Dinners, guests enjoy a multicourse seasonally inspired dinner prepared right in front of your eyes. Our sommelier chooses select and often rare BC and Canadian wine, beer and spirits to pair with your meal, and guests are offered a 10% discount in the Edible Canada Retail Store and on future tours booked at the event. Since the goal of the evening is just to relax and enjoy the experience, we will email you a copy of the recipes and wine pairings from the night
There is a mix of paid and free parking on Granville Island. Edible Canada has recently partnered with Powertech to install the first Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Level 2 charger on Granville Island.

Edible Canada lives up to its name. Bringing Canadiana to the Vancouver restaurant scene is what this place is about - Elk, rabbit, seal and now sturgeon - all sustainable and properly procured showing customers the quality, taste and value these food proteins have.
Rounding this off is the excellent customer service Harriet and her team provide along with a creative beverages list that highlight Canadian made craft spirits, BC wines and craft breweries. Go and enjoy, bring an open mind and you will be rewarded.
Service was slow. Disappointing dinner as we had previously had brunch here and thought it was great. Drinks started badly - cranberry smash was nothing special, Chinatown was not a good mix of flavours and Mike Weir (non alcoholic) tasted like straight lemon juice with no sweetener and had to be sent back to get re-mixed. Poutine was good but curry hotpot was bland, humboldt squid was extremely salty (obviously not tasted in the kitchen). Standout dish was tuna tostada but very small portion for $15. Did not stay for dessert given the disappointing entrees. Would come back for brunch but not for dinner.
The service from our waiter Chris was fantastic. The Cache Creek burger had too much truffle jam on it and my husband did not like it. Chris graciously offered to bring him a replacement meal of Duck Poutine which was much better. The service was expedient and courteous. I'd give the food 3.5/5 as it was good but not spectacular. Overall it was a pleasant experience but given the hype I heard I was slightly underwhelmed by the food. Service deserves 5/5...he got a 25% tip.
Super friendly service from the time we were seated to when we left. The food came quickly and the drinks were tasty. Dessert was delicious! Really warm and comfortable atmosphere. I would recommend Edible Canada to friends who are looking for a great pre-theatre place to eat.
My friend and I both enjoyed our dinners... Each had a starter and a main that we loved. The service was good and the atmosphere pleasant, though the music was a tad too loud as is the case in most Vancouver restaurants nowadays. I was meeting a friend I had not seen for a while to catch up a bit, and Lowering the music volume a tad would have made for a much more pleasant evening for us as the high volume occasionally interfered with our ability to hear one another.
Creative, Canadian-sourced international food that is always freshly prepared and delicious. the four of us shared the duck poutine and the falafel mains as appetizers and had bison, hamburger and mushroom risotto to share for the main course. Everything was outstanding!

I was a bit surprised when we received our menus; I was expecting a prix fixe menu. of either
$49 or $59 and I thought this was a bit too casual. We were entertaining friends from London
and I thought it was going to be a bit different than it was. As it turned out though, everyone
was happy with their food (three people had fish and chips) and I was delighted with the octopus orchiette. In fact, I'd like to have the recipe if they're into doing things like that.
The French press coffee is a nice touch however,it gets cool fast as you wait for the coffee grounds to settle.
Maybe the stainless steel pots need to be filled with hot water first,not filled as it would be a waste of water but a certain amount, to heat the pot..or maybe it was just mine .
Booked 2 months in advance to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and they ran out of the 2 main courses I initially ordered (there were only 6-7 to choose from) the waitress handed me the menu to make a third choice and seemed shocked when she returned a few minutes later and we said we were leaving.
Sorry but I'm not spending $100+ o n a meal I'd be settling for. They were nice enough to comp the drink I had, buti get why the place was half empty
We were 12 inches from the next table...elbows almost touching. We were I told at the door that we had arrived just in time for happy hour. So we ordered three glasses of red wine at $8 each and when the bill came it was $12 each. When I inquired she said that particular wine was not on the special. The thing is we didn't order that particular one just the one that was on
I was really looking forward to our evening here, the menu sounded delicious, the menu had options for my vegan friends, we had a birthday to celebrate.
I arrived with one friend of our party of five at 5:45pm and discovered it was still happy hour, great surprise! However, we sat without beverage requests until minutes before end of Happy hour. I had to get up, walk to the hostess, and request service.
Everything took a long time, no explanation, no apologies, no recognition of a birthday until one of our party took it upon themselves to order a dessert with birthday candle.
The food was way less than desirable, let alone no where close to what I expected from the menu descriptions.
The arugula salad was incredibly blah, it lacked a dressing that enhanced the arugula and the pickled leek was NOT a good choice with the salad!
The Kale and Beet salad again was a huge disappointment - super thick dressing, and the minuscule beets were awful....maybe 6-8 paper thin slices of raw yellow beet! Why bother! No flavour - they would have done much better to have oven-roasted chunks of beets to portray the earthy flavours.
The lamb meatballs were not moist, and they were hard, not a pleasing texture.
I have no desire to return.
One of my favourite secret gems in the city. You'd think it was touristy, being at Granville Island but it's worthy of any of the foodie neighborhoods of Vancouver.
Weekday brunch options are a plus. Healthy, filling, good to look at and even tastier to eat.
Decor is sparse and tables close together but luckily restaurant wasn't very full when went for brunch so we could chat without raising our voices.
I have tasted better food at a hot dog stand . Very exspensive over priced for this kind of food . Non of us four were happy with the taste of the food . I did call the manager to let him know . We did enjoy our visit and the beer was good . Sad and a costly lesson for me .
We went for brunch and both our Bennie's and potatoes were not hot and on a piece of thick crust bread that made it difficult to eat. I had to ask for salt and pepper and wait because only a server could explain the three kinds of salt, meanwhile my eggs are getting cold. Ditto my latte arrived well after the breakfast and I was never asked if I wanted sugar and had to flag someone down to provide that and wait. The food was okay. I found the wild mushrooms on my Benny not a great choice for eggs but that was my request to try it so can only blame myself. Service was polite but not anticipating the obvious. Will not return.
Tasty and quality food. Service friendly and polite but slow. Food took 30 minutes to arrive, despite restaurant not being full and our deliberately making a reservation a non-peak time in order to avoid a lengthy wait. Also, our toddler was served last, whereas usually restaurants do a good job in getting the kids meals out first and fast to prevent hangry melt downs. 30 minutes for brunch is longer than what we've experienced at other restaurants.
The server took 20 minutes to arrive at our table even tho we let the hostess know twice that no one has come by and that we were in a hurry.
The coffee and water finally arrived to our table after 25 minutes.
The brunch meal arrived after an hour.
The restaurant was 1/4 full.
No management came over to apologize for the neglect and long wait times..... the service was horrible.

Unfortunately we were so stressed out about being late for our appointment that we had to quickly eat and down our coffees and were not able to enjoy this experience at all. Coffee should not take 25 minutes to serve and Lunch should not take 1 hour to serve.
During a recent trip to Granville Island, we expected that we'd have to pay top dollar for decent food, or walk several miles away from the market to get reasonable food at a reasonable price - but Edible Canada was the best of all worlds! It was close to the market, with absolutely delicious food, for a reasonable price. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, and would be equally good for a formal date or a casual get-together.
I've enjoyed this place before, but I think it's had it's day.
The service was friendly and with the addition of the manager, excellent.
The food was... passable. I ordered an arugula salad that "featured" crispy chickpeas - there were 2!! (Waitress brought me more when I pointed it out.)
I also had a burger it arrived, not a little pink as I'd been informed (which is fine) but well frabkly the outside was cooked, it was almost blue/raw inside. Not that I needed more food but it's also a tiny patty on a huge bun, and it was smothered in "A&W teen burger" amounts of condiments.
The Fries were barely crispy (they are duck fat fried) but barely warm.
My companions comments on her food (no specific mistakes) was "meh".
Frankly it's buckled to it's touristy location, what I loved in the past is it really cared about its food even though many of it's patrons were tourists and were less likely to return, now the menu looks like the same place I knew but it's only paying lip service to the idea of really well prepared local ingredients.
Every dish was absolutely fabulous. From the starters (piccata, tomato soup and roasted cauliflower & Brussels sprouts), to the mains (duck poutine, arugula salad & falafal) everything was perfectly cooked. The duck itself was done to perfection. Great place for a casual meal with friends.
