We were told at the door it was reservations only as it was so busy yet the restaurant inside was empty and the outside patio had loads of free tables. We went onto opentable and found plenty of slots available so booked a table. The food was luke warm and tasted only ok. Wouldn't go back in a hurry.

Great location and service however dinner menu very limited and no appetizers.
Wine selection very poor.
Sorry we won’t be returning.

Responded 9 hours ago

Hi Julie, Thank you for your feedback, Julie! Regarding the menu, we are in the process of re-structuring our menu. We do offer appetizers (indicated through a lower price) but we realized that we don't separate them good enough on the menu. That will be something we will implement shortly. We carry a wide selection of BC wines, however, not all of our wines are on the beverage menu and we will make sure in the future that our servers also hand out our extended wine list to our guests.

Had an enjoyable dinner out with family and friends before we hit the VTS show with Colin Mochrie.
Our waiter was on point - friendly, fun, offered us the specials promptly as well as great suggestions. It’s a bit pricey for my pocket book, but the food was just fabulous! I’ll just have to save up ‘cause I’ll be going back.

Hi, We're very disappointed with your review and will share it with our chefs. It is very unfortunate that the food was too greasy that day and we wish that you would have pointed something out to our Manager on the Floor, so we would have had a chance to make it better. We truly hope that you will give us another chance one day and want to apologize.

It’s amazing that a restaurant of such poor quality can remain open. I guess they rely on tourists. The food was abhorrent, the service was unprofessional, and the atmosphere resembled a dive bar.

Edible Canada at the Market
Responded on May 27, 2019

Hi Alon, We are overly disappointed to read your review of our food and service. What you described is not in tune with the experience we consistently provide our customers with. Can you provide more details on what you ordered? We know that we are not an upscale restaurant but we are definitely not a dive bar. You also mentioned that we played live music but we never have live music in our bistro. Just double-checking that you are talking about Edible Canada, the bistro on Granville Island?

Great location with good gift items in back of restaurant. Food was mediocre. Maybe it was an off-night or the time of year, but the menu choices were severely limited. My fish & chips order, while original (sturgeon) , tasted like the fries were cooked 2 days ago and reheated.

Hi Judy, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are disappointed to hear that our food did not hit the spot during your last visit. We aim for the highest standards in the industry and what you described is not in tune with the reviews we usually get. We would never serve day-old fries, and we will investigate the reasons behind the incident. In order to do that, would you kindly get back to us via email telling the exact time you visited? Cheers,

Overpriced for what you get, and the food itself was comparatively bland. In a city with so many fine options for dining I couldn’t in good conscience ask anyone to pay so much for such average fare.

Edible Canada at the Market
Responded on May 23, 2019

Hi, We very much appreciate your honest feedback! It is very disappointing to hear that you didn't enjoy our Canadian cuisine. We just try not to add too much salt and spices to our dishes, so our guests can add a selection of Amola salts (on our table) and our hot sauces. We only source sustainable and fresh ingredients and the intention is not to cover the flavours of all the fresh produce and sustainable seafood in our dishes. We hope you will give us another chance one day!

We found the hostesses on mother’s day to be unprepared for our arrival even though we had a reservation. She asked us to sit at a shared table. When we said no, our mothers would like their own table, is here one available she said yes there was but now she was going to have to change everything around and made us wait 10 minutes. I found the whole thing rude and irritating- of course we don’t want a shared table for a special occasion! Then at the end we were told there were chocolates at the hostess station so we had to stand in line like idiots waiting for them to come free so we could ask them for our chocolates. Since my mother in law was in the bathroom I asked for 2, one for her and one for me. The hostess said, sorry these are actually only for the mothers. I said I am a mother. She continued to argue with me. I wasn’t sure if I needed some kind of proof of motherhood to satisfy her! Finally she handed them over but I was seriously upset over that. I’m a step mother to children who’s real mother has left them. It’s a sensitive subject. I don’t see why the server couldn’t just have brought the chocolates to the table at the end of he meal instead of making us line up and ask for them
And be questioned about whether we were actually real mothers or not. Great food and nice waitress and we loved the complimentary champagne but your hostess team is the pits and put a damper on our day.

Not great . Service slow. We advised on arrival theatre at 8 . Had planned extra 30 min to diner over their recommended 90 min . Appetizerand salad described a” large serving “ were not and left one diner hungry. Waited 40 min for main course. Waiter kept avoiding us but checking with kitchen and looking our way. Finally manager came : sorry kitchen is slammed . Ok then offer some nibbles. Main course arrived and meat was cold. Sturgeon was over cooked and 3 very tiny morsel of fish the size of a scallop . Not impressed. No time for dessert as had to rush out. Would not recommend

It's a nice space, and the service was great. We dislike salmon that is dry, so we specifically asked our waitress if the salmon was moist, and she assured us it was, saying it was her favourite dish on the menu. So we ordered that, plus the duck poutine, and a plate of roasted root vegetables.

We were given a trio of salts to go with our meal, plain, truffle salt, and spicy salt. Nice touch, and unique. However, we never got to use them because the salmon (dry) and the poutine were both already inedibly salty. The vegetables were good, but it was a ridiculously small portion for $17.

We really wanted to like Edible Canada, but my rating is mostly for the ambiance and service, not the food, unfortunately...

She said the salmon was always good. So we both ordered salmon
And was it ever!!
Perfectly cooked and beautifully presented!!
Don't usually do dessert, but decided because it was an early birthday dinner we shared the organic crem brule and coffee. A perfect end to a wonderful evening on Granville Island, that started with the Flamenco dance group performance at the Improv Theatre.
