EDGE Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
There were a lot of Christmas parties so the service was really slow. The whole meal took 2.5 hours and it wasn’t because we ate slow. Steaks were very over cooked. Medium steak arrived as well done or if possible more than well done. Not a fan of the special mashed potatoes. The appetizers were great though. The sheep cheek and bone marrow were delicious! Deserts were just ok. Really rather disappointed for such a nice place. I was really hoping it would live up to expectations.
We were a little late getting there and had a play to attend. Everyone associated with our experience did a fantastic job from the matra di to the waiter and all people involved. The drinks were marvelous. My date is a bartender and she loved the mixes and flavors great job. The food was amazing. Perfectly done. We ordered off the regular menu instead of the theater menu and were still delivered the food with time to eat. What we were not able to the waiter offered to box it up for us and save it for us til after the play. I have never been offered such a service and really did appreciate it. Thank you for all the things and experiences we had. You have been recommended to our friends and families and I hope we all visit you again soon.
It’s okay for a steakhouse. Nothing to get excited about based on the long time between courses. Steak was Luke warm as it sat under a warmer. The best part of the food experience was the chocolate crunch dessert we took back to the room. Our server Leslie was awesome though. She was great and I am sure she couldn’t control the kitchen!
A perfect place for lunch or brunch before theater or symphony at the DCPA just across the street. The Free parking that comes with the meal justifies the higher price of the food, although if if we paid for parking we would still go because it is so lovely. The service is perfect, the ambiance wonderful and the food perfect. As good as it gets.
I was disappointed in this restaurant. I had been here three years ago for lunch and was very impressed at that time. A big change! Service was unattentive, didn't follow through on two separate easy requests (bring the wine to the table and open asap, bring rocks for my mixed drink), they brought out our food and it was luke warm and finally they brought out the wrong dessert that we ordered. This is NOT a cheap restaurant, and I am fine with the extra cost , if it's worth it. This was bad diner service, not a four star, Four Seasons hotel service that I expect (although they had those prices!).
I have really enjoyed The Edge in the past. We come before the matinee performance at The Buell Theatres. We have always enjoyed the special Quartet Menu item. We were very disappointed that it was discontinued.
We have typically had very good service-- but it was marginal last Saturday. I'm not sure if we will return.
Review is based on eating/drinking at the Bar and not the restaurant. Wait person was attentive and personable.
Side note - had a reservation in the restaurant but opted to sit at a bar table (World Series game). Told hostess at the restaurant what we were doing and she said "No problem. Thx for telling me." I then get a note from Open Table stating that I hadn't honored my reservation. Replied to Open Table with above statement and stated my displeasure at being listed as a "no show". I'll blame the hostess/restaurant for not following up but don't really know if the error was Open Table or the restaurant.
I took my sons for my Birthday dinner on Sat. night, while staying at the Four Seasons for the weekend. Overall, this was a good dining experience. A couple items which reduced my rating a bit were the wine markups and the wait for drink refills.
As a avid wine purchaser, I know that a bottle of Jordan Cabernet is about $60 at most stores in town. However, on the menu, this is $30 a glass. I don’t want to sound like a rube. Of course, I know that many restaurants add a 100% or more markup on wine. Personally, I just consider those who choose to keep this at a 50% or so a better value. Although, I did appreciate the fact that they offered some of these better wines by the glass.
There were also several times we had to wait quite a long time for drink refills on soda and ice tea. Granted, I was out with two teens who probably consume more than the average Edge patron. However, when three people are spending over $300 for dinner, I’d expect them to be more on it. Just saying.
It was very convenient to dine without leaving the hotel. This was a big plus. But, in a city with amazing steak houses, I wouldn’t make this a destination.
I love EDGE. If you're in the mood for a steak at a place downtown, look no further than this wonderful restaurant. The food is amazing, with even such commonplace sides as mashed potatoes having incredible flavor. Try the Creamy Tomato Soup, which has an intense flavor and a lovely little parmesan puff on the side. My wife and I split a 16-ounce dry-aged buffalo ribeye, and it was perfect for the two of us. The service is genuine and friendly, and you'll definitely be back in the future.
