Edgar's - Quail Lodge Ratings and Reviews
WE HAVE BEEN DINING AT EDGARS FOR YEARS AND HAVE USUALLY BEEN HAPPY. WE WENT FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY 10/14 AND HAD A TERRIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE. THE BAR WAS PACKED AND VERY NOISY. DUE TO THE PEOPLE IN THE BAR THE SERVICE WAS VERY SLOW. THEY WERE SERVING AN OKTOBERFEST MENU AND OUR DINNER WAS OVERCOOKED AND TASTELESS. WE COMPLAINED AND THEY DID NOT CHARGE US FOR ONE MEAL. WE MIGHT TRY THEM AGAIN WHEN THEY ARE SERVING THEIR REGULAR MENU.
We have been eating at Edgars for a number of years and appreciate the consistency of the food and the friendly service. The outside patio overlooks the golf driving range and is dog friendly. The dining room itself is very casual since it is part of the golf club house. The clam chowder is the best on the peninsula!
Very disappointed in the service. Our drinks ordered when we first arrived did not come until we asked again and after the starter. Another in our group ordered a glass of wine with her entrée and it came after asking again and after she finished her entrée. One ordered a Caesar salad with salmon and was charged $38.00, $12.00 for the salad and $20.00 for the salmon - should of mentioned the salmon would cost an additional $20.00 as the guest thought it came with the salad already. Plus we were charged $2.00 additional for avocado that was not on the salad. And the salmon entrée was $28.00. Go figure?
Nice menu. Maybe it was my taste buds but my Reuben sandwich tasted bland, wanted to add salt. My guests were happy and felt their salads were tasty. The setting was lovely, overlooking the driving range - we sat out in the patio because it was a beautiful day. As cute as our wait person was, I felt it must have been her first day. We were seating - no one bothered to ask us if we wanted something to drink. Had to get the attention of a wait person working with another table.. (Another table was seated 5 minutes after us and promptly got their drinks.) Had to ask for sugar for the ice tea - none on the table. When it was time to place our food order, one party ordered a Cobb salad - the waitress asked if he wanted French fries or salad with his Cobb salad - ?? It must have been her first day.
Dinner on Sunday night was quite busy with big tables. Felt like the Club patrons having dinner after golf. Bit too noisy for me. The menu has good variety. Calamari misto was light and well prepared. The short rib was too dry. Nothing as to die for that meal. Might try it again if I'm up in the Valley
This is our go to place. Located in the golf club at Quail Lodge, it is quiet with lovely views.
Very nice ambience, beautiful fireplace, with tables spaced far enough apart for private conversation. Food is delicious. Organic, locally sourced where possible. Thanks for another yummy dinner.
Made a reservation for lunch not realizing our only option was an Easter Brunch buffet. (That was not indicated on the web site)
Be aware that the the price is $70 each adult for the buffet and that does not even include coffee! Service was lackadaisical, as we served ourselves obviously. Coffee refills, cutlery replacement and water refills slow slow slow.
Lovely atmosphere, great place for patio lunch from the regular menu....skip the expensive buffet...not worth the investment.
While I've eaten a number of times at Edgars in the past, this recent experience has put me off their restaurant. The portions used to be HuGE. The salads could be served as half or whole. Now, they serve one size that is the amount of a half, but priced like a whole.
The flatbreads USED to be crispy and flavorful--piled with toppings. Now, they are soggy and weak--looking like something out of a freezer. Honestly, I left hungry. I won't be returning.
