Located in The Mayflower Hotel, Edgar's is a nice surprise. The menu is not extensive but has very good selections. We had the crab cakes and the seafood risotto - both were excellent. The apple galette for dessert was also excellent. The dining area is well separated from the bar, snd therefore has a very pleasant atmosphere. Pricing reasonable. Recommended.

Best turkey club I've had in a long time. Burger was cooked perfectly, delicious crispy fries. Everything was great. Sometimes service at this restaurant is spotty, but our waiter was very attentive.

The service was so bad I don't know where to start. There were only 2 other tables occupied on Saturday night at 8. No one noticed us until a Barback went looking for the server. Ignored once we ordered. To get water we had to go get the pitcher from serving cart in the other room and no one noticed it on our table. Couldn't find a manager until the next morning. Food was ok. We had salads and cheese tray and 1 glass of wine each ($75). I struggled with leaving a tip because it really was a server issue but gave in. I thought that the reviews were skewed but they're not. A shame because this could be a real gem inside the mayflower.

Very strange. Another party and I waited at the host stand for over ten minutes without a hint of anyone who might seat us. We finally sat ourselves, which seemed to confuse the waiter. At the end of the meal, asked for the check five times before it was brought to us.

We had dinner here our first night in Washington as we stayed in the Mayflower hotel. We had the calamari to start which was delicious and a very generous portion. We ordered the veal, chicken, and bass. While the flavour of the bass was good, both my mother in law and I ordered it and both pieces were very dry and over cooked. Would still recommend to others as we had an enjoyable experience.

Worse flatbread in a long time. Very undercooked. Made up for it on seafood by overlooking the shrimp and scallops. Wife's fish was cooked properly. Server was very friendly.

4 more nights this trip in DC and and definitely won't eat here again for dinner

Requested to be seated at a quiet location for a business meeting a day before the lunch. When we got there the place was empty except for one table where people were drinking and talking out loud. Of course, we were seated right next to this table. Barvo Edgar!

Located in an historic hotel on Connecticut Avenue, the menu was fairly standard breakfast fare, the service was quite good, and the decor was what might be expected in upscale historic hotel.

The hostess had a bit of difficulty finding our reservation. She was not very welcoming. We were seated at a table that wobbled from side to side. No wine list was provided, so we borrowed one from a nearby table. Service was acceptable, but the place was very noisy, so much so that conversing was a bit of a challenge.
We had wine, a cheese plate, and a crab cake appetizer. Food was good.

Very disappointed in the Sunday breakfast.
Enjoyed lunch the previous day; but breakfast preparation was lacking and not very delectable.

Recommend for lunch or dinner....... much better breakfast can be found elsewhere.

Went to dinner here before a magic show in the hotel. Our server was prompt, but not very friendly or personable. Dinner entrees are on the pricey side and portions are small for what you get. I got the veal chop and hubs got the rib eye. His rib eye was the smallest I've seen served in a restaurant. Overall, the food was just ok.

I ate at the Edgar Restaurant several times over the course of my recent stay at the Mayflower Hotel. The food was actually quite good- fresh and always well-prepared. Presentation was attractive and the portions were more than adequate. I had the mussels twice. They were done in a red sauce and were excellent and fresh. Their Spring Pea Risotto entree was a huge portion. The rice was creamy and well-seasoned with Asiago cheese.

Breakfasts were great. I had French toast and bacon, and the bacon was top quality. The brioche bread for the French toast was delicious., although I feel it could have been soaked a little longer as it was fairly dry in the middle. The breakfast buffet, while expensive, had a wonderful selection of favorite foods that never looked "tired"or old.

Service in this restaurant was always courteous and prompt. The various seating arrangements allowed for privacy. The acoustics were excellent!

It adds a great deal to a hotel stay if the in-house restaurant consistently serves good quality, tasty food. The Edgar is solid in that regard and I had five meals there during my four days in DC.

I should mention that the Edgar is also open to the general public.

The breakfast buffet was terrific- made to order inlets, fresh fruit, and all of the usual suspects. And At $9 the kids breakfast buffet is a great value. Dinner left much to be desired, though.

The location was convenient, but a-la-carte breakfast was fairly lackluster. Dry eggs and ham, and an underripe, underbaked half tomato. I would not recommend for more than an efficient business breakfast, or convenient hotel stay fare.

A noisy bistro and bar, we asked for a quiet table and were accommodated, which we very much appreciated.

Menu is limited, but what we ate was delicious. Not a fancy, "gourmet" restaurant, but good, straightforward food. We enjoyed ourselves.

I still miss its beautiful predecessor. In my visit's case, reservation was under my name and my breakfast mate was seated on the opposite end where I was seated. SECOND TIME, so that's probably it for me.
