The food was amazing! I went with a group of 3 others to celebrate a belated birthday and the service was impeccable. We didn’t do the tasting menu (seemed a little pricey) but did order one of everything on the menu and we loved pretty much everything. Someone who isn’t a fan of seafood even liked the seafood dishes! One round of drinks did take a little long to get to the table but otherwise our service was great. Amazing food, cute little spot, definitely would recommend. If the tasting menu price was lower I’d probably be more interested in trying it.
Possibly the best meal of my life. Certainly the best beignet of my life, and I lived in New Orleans. And it was a crab beignet. In a sauce made out of lovage. But that's only two out of seven parts of the dish. How the... what the...
I took my wife here for her birthday. I did not know the chef, Maximillian Petty, had been nominated (or won?) James Beard awards when I booked it, but it explained a lot about the meal when we saw it later.
Get the chef's tasting menu. It's worth it.
Also, the wait staff is tip-top. Listen to her. She knows. And tell her if you don't like foie gras. She can you help you if you trust her. Trust her.
We tried the blind tasting menu last weekend. The food was well prepared and beautifully presented. Some of the creative cuisine was not to my personal taste but it was fun to try. Portion sizes were larger than many tasting menus and there are 9 courses so come hungry.
Service was excellent. We had 2 folks serve us and both were informative, attentive and very gracious. This was consistent throughout the more than 2 hour meal.
The only downside is the space itself. It is very small and tables are close together. We had to pull our table out to seat ourselves and the table was wobbly. When guests at the adjacent table got up for any reason, they had to do the same. On the plus side, we did get to make some new acquaintances and share in all of their conversations given our proximity. This won't prevent us from returning but we'll plan for a shorter dinner off the ala carte menu.
Truly wonderful food, creative (but not over the top) preparations, delightful wine pairings with global sourcing, appropriate portions, attentive and intelligent service at the bar. It's obvious why the chef is a James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year semi-finalist. It reminded me of a 1-star Michelin restaurant in Chicago. What a treasure!
We had the best time. The staff is exceptional and very friendly. The food is amazing. The chef knows how to bring out the flavors in local ingredients in a very creative way. He doesn’t use off the wall ingredients just for the sake of using them. If he does, it is with a purpose. The chef’s tasting menu is the way to go though. We were definitely full, more than enough food for the two of us. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed the amazingly well prepared and tasteful dishes at Eden Hill. However, the price is very high for the quantity of food served. Be prepared to spend a fair bit of money to truly enjoy the amazing food. The total bill was $180 and included several small dishes, 2 drinks, and some pelligrino sparkling water. We left feeling satiated. I would highly recommend, but just be prepared for the final bill.
On a spur of the moment decision, my date and I decided to do the tasting menu with her adding the wine tasting for herself. The tasting menu was fun, creative, and tasty. They happily and readily accommodated my gluten free request. The only downside, for as much as you can call it that, was that I actually almost felt too full at the end. There were only two dishes that really stood out as having more food than was necessary in the scope of the meal. These were primarily meat courses and it felt as though an overly generous portion was provided. In fairness, however, for a restaurant to serve too little in the way of food would be far worse than too much. So I understand where Chef Max was coming from. With that being said, I really loved the way the food was presented, including the plates or bowls themselves. Furthermore, their first desert course was magical. Easily the best desert I have ever had. It was a sous vide apple, with bold cinnamon and star anise flavors, sitting on top of foie gras nestled next to crushed hazelnuts with apple infused bubbles on top of it all. Stunning.
I would be doing them a great disservice if I failed to mention and comment on the awesome wine pairing. Throughout the dinner I had tasted the wines that had been included along the way as my partner and I ate. My favorite part was that the sommelier really brought a wide variety of wines from different parts of France, Germany, and other regions. As someone who has very little experience with wine, the combinations of dishes and the accompanying wine all made sense. The winner of the night was the Sichel 2010 Sautrenes that was paired with the first desert dish. It is a must buy if you are in a position to get a bottle.
Eden Hill provided a great meal and a great night. I plan on returning.
This is our second time at Eden Hill. We had a party of 10 this time and did the tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was exceptional! Creative, beautifully plated and delicious. Our server was very attentive. The wine pairing was perfect. They were able to seamlessly deal with dietary issues. this is my favorite new restaurant in Seattle.
Presumably uncharacteristically and very unfortunately, Eden Hill was off the rails when we arrived for the last stop on our 8-week tour of Seattle Magazine's "Best New Restaurants 2017" list. Chalk it up to a "bad night?" We arrived for our reservation and waited 60 minutes for a table. When a table was finally ready, it was uncomfortably cramped. We waited another 15 minutes to confirm with our server that yes, we just wanted the tasting menu (I would imagine most diners would have made their meal planning decisions after 60 minutes to think about the menu and wouldn't need an extra 15 minutes of hunger). After yet another 15 minutes passed, when we still had no food, we left, went across the street to Ethan Stowell's How to Cook a Wolf, and ate a fantastic Italian dinner with prompt and outstanding service. I honestly wish I could give Eden Hill more than one star in any category, but everything that could have gone right during our partial dining experience instead went terribly wrong. I give Eden Hill the benefit of the doubt that our visit was very unusual. Still, I don't think we'll be giving them a "second chance"; the cramped dining space alone was unpleasant enough that we can find excellent food elsewhere even if the service is normally substantially better.
What a fine new restaurant find. We had an event on Queen Anne and wanted to dine after ... Eden Hill was the choice, and a tasty one. We ordered and shared four small plates, plus shared a dessert. Small, thoughtful wine list rounded out our meal. Fine, seamless service and a cozy interior made fir a very fun date night.
Excellent experience of the tasting menu for a special occasion. They were able to accommodate multiple dietary restrictions individualized to each member of our party. Overall, a great evening with delicious food and wine and great staffing/service. Highly recommended and will be returning soon to sample the regular menu
We were celebrating a birthday and chose the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairings. The tasting menu is a great option and you will be interviewed on your food likes, dislikes, food allergies and sensitivities. The chef will then completely create an entire 8-course meal refined to your liking - it was amazing!! The incredible flavors, textures, artistic plating and creative ingredient combinations kept our expectations high through each successive course. We were never disappointed and walked away delighted from such a unique dining experience. Since our dinner, we have recommended the restaurant to many friends and we hope that anyone reading this review will have a similar experience as we did - it was exceptional.
There are chefs who are highly technically skilled who can make an excellent meal. Then there are chefs who take it to another level and combine flavors in unexpected ways that take your tastebuds on an exciting journey. Chef Maximilian Petty is that kind of culinary magician. The attention to detail and personalized service is unmatched. All I can say is wow!
Eden Hill was recommended to us for dinner, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. Chauncy our waiter was FABULOUS; full of great commentary on the food we were about to eat...the fixed menu looked delicious, but we weren't in for 7 courses (next visit we will do it) - we came from Michigan to visit Seattle and I'd go back again for another treat!
Small - sits only about 16 people and guaranteed, you'll meet someone special while dining! (We did - two tables worth) Not to miss.
The food is exquisitely plated and the flavor combinations are both creative and inspired but we were overall disappointed. Their website implies you can choose how many courses you want (ranging from 6 to 9 courses at $80 - $110 per person). Our only option was 7 courses at the high water mark of $110 pp. They make a big fuss over how these are completely unique dishes you can't find on their menu, but at least three dishes were small plates offerings featured on the menu that night. We had some lovely amusés and their salmon and waygu beef dishes were standouts, but 3/7 of the dishes were desserts (one was called intermezzo but it was a mini ice cream cone) and all of the dishes were very small. Including a $70 bottle of wine, a bill for 2 people was $385 (20% gratuity automatically included) and while the ambiance and food were nice, I feel a bit foolish to have spent that much just to remain hungry at the end of the meal.
Lovely dinner, great cocktail & wine, beautiful little neighborhood treasure. But we felt like the server was irritated that we came and had the nerve to dine in his restaurant. It was kind of a flash back to the grunge years when most servers had an attitude like that, that they were too cool for the guest and certainly weren't about to smile. Aside from him, absolutely wonderful dining experience!!!!
This one of my absolute favorites restaurants in Seattle or anywhere and we always try to take our out of town foodie friends to it when they are in town. It never disappoints. And the staff is excellent -- so obviously well trained and feel a part of the great team that makes up the restaurant. The great leadership and Inspirarion of chef and owner Max shows, even and most impressively on our last visit when he had taken a rare and much deserved night off.
Eden Hill was fantastic. We enjoyed the tasting menu and all of the fun, clever surprises. Despite meeting the quality bar of a stuffy, fine-dining establishment, the place and the staff were completely unpretentious, friendly, and accessible. If Michelin were in Seattle, Eden Hill would have a star or two.
We thought the ambiance was nice and the service great but we were surprised by the amount of fried food. We enjoyed the dinner but would not go back and would probably not recommend Eden Hill to friends. I do have to say that we ordered a la carte so it might be worth trying the tasting menu. Wine list was good.
We live in the neighborhood and had never been to Eden Hill until the other night. All the reviews talked about how wonderful the tasting menu was so we decided to try that. We were not disappointed! It was amazing! From the presentation and service to the combinations of flavors and exquisite preparations we were enthralled! We'll be back!
