I loved the atmosphere. The German music and singing where very authentic and entertaining. My small children loved it! I thought the food was great as well. We had a lamb shank, which was amazing, and the salmon. I would definitely go back.
Great food and amazing service.
A bunch of us went to kick off Oktoberfest . The food delicious !the beer amazing! The atmosphere and music said nothing Oktoberfest. The music was mostly Paul McCartney . No traditional German music. Inside the restaurant they had a band. Maybe they should have had it set up that the people sitting outside could hear too.
After dinner we went over to Rosemont and had a great time at the Hofbrauhaus.
An enjoyable meal with friendly servers/owners. Great neighborhood jewel!! Well done
Everything about this gem is great! But especially the kindness of the staff. Very nice evening and delicious food. It looks like a fun place to have a party. It's a big place and looks as though it can accomodate a large group.
The last time I was at this restaurant was 10 years ago, and I remember the food being pretty good. This time I came here for my moms birthday and I have to say we would have been better off celebrating at McDonalds. My mom got the platter with the schnitzel and bratwurst. The ham that was put on top of the red cabbage salad tasted old, the bratwurst had no flavor and my mom compared it to wet toilet paper ground up. The schnitzel was tough to eat and only tasted like the oil it was fried in. The only good thing about the meal was the spitzel and the German fries. Then our next mistake was getting the ice cream sundae which was supposed to come with whip cream and nuts (we got neither) only 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream and a thin drizzle of strawberry syrup you can buy at the grocery store. I would have at least expected the strawberry syrup with actual strawberries in it. I ordered the perch with mashed potatoes. Both bland and the perch only tasted like oil. The service wasn’t bad though probably the only upside to our experience. My mom and I did get a good laugh at how horrible the food was, so at least we have that memory. Sorry but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant and I regret going there.
As far as traditional German fare Edelweiss has it all. Bring your appetite because you'll want to try the scrumptious appetizers and original German beer on tap. The schnitzels are delicious and all entrees come with two sides and the soup of the day. Top that off with a strudel and you'll be adding a couple of belt loops for sure.
Celebrated my fathers 80th Birthday. 11 family members attended and all enjoyed the food and experience very much!
We really had a great first time experience at Edelweiss, the food was extraordinary and the Decour very cool :-) Monica our server was very knowledgeable of the food, recommendations and caring of drinks with our meal. Dawn the hostess/manager was so welcoming and made us feel welcomed with personal attention and she was a great representative of the restaurant. We really look forward to going back and enjoy this fine dining. If you can order the cream of mushroom soup if they have it available, it was the best I have ever had!! Overall a great night!
Great restaurant and food was great along with service. Dawn the manager was awesome.
Our server waited to bring our soup and salads till right before our meal was served. Other than that food was delicious, the accordion player amusing, fun night
This was our 4th ANNUAL visit to Edelweiss. We come for The Petersen Classic bowling tournament, but the highlight of the visit has now become the dinner at Edelweiss. The food is always phenomenal, but the fact that Josi (sp?) remembers us every year makes it all that much more special. Their service is terrific and Kayla (sp?) did a superb job that made us feel like weekly, regular customers. We'll be back again next year on August 10th, so start blocking out our table space now!
The restaurant was recommended by a friend and I'm glad we went. The folks at the bar and the restaurant are all very friendly and accommodating and the food was fantastic. I have been to Germany & Austria several times and can honestly say the Weiner Schnitzel I had was as good and delicious than any I had in Europe. Their imported beer selection is very extensive and on draft and the ambiance was very good. I would highly recommend Edelweiss Restaurant.
Great smoked salmon. Calamari was not as good as in past, greasy. Salad- reliable home made dressings.
Wiener schnitzel with egg. Well prepared. Red cabbage - good. Spaetzle - good.
Sprecher root beer float - good addition. Music on Saturday evenings. Still a reliable place.
Maybe a new chef in training currently. Appreciate summer desserts in addition to regular ones.
I’m so glad we found Edelweiss! Their biergarten was welcoming, the food was delicious and the service excellent. I’ll be back for Oktoberfest!
Edelweiss is always a great experience from the German ambiance to the great German food. My mom loves going here.
We have been going to Edelweiss for over 20 years. We can always count on great food and the wonderful staff.
The food was AWESOME (we all had the Edelweiss plate and couldn't find a problem with any of the items)! We felt as if we were dining in a German tavern.
The owner, Dawn, is a bundle of friendliness, wrapped up in enthusiasm and engagement. Our server, Josephine, is an absolute gem...knowledgeable, friendly and authentic. The hostess was very attentive to our needs & took care of everything before we needed to ask.
The accordionist was wonderful and the music just added to the ambiance/setting - not too loud and not too soft and excellent selections for a dining experience.
We will be back!
Ask to be seated where Tomas’s is your server. He goes above and beyond the call of duty!
Great service! Staff is always super friendly. One of the best places for authentic German food.
Edelweiss has delicious authentic German cuisine. The restaurant has an upscale feel and very helpful staff. Parking can be an issue, particularly on special event days. I took my mother here for her birthday and she will not stop raving about it to every person she meets and is already planning on her next trip.
The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. I cannot recall any other dining experience that has made me feel more at home!
The food was delicious, well prepared and presented.
I look forward to visiting again.
I'm sorry to say but Schnitzel was the worst I've had in a very long while. Their chef needs to go online and watch Figlmueller's (in Vienna) Youtube videos making pork Schnitzel. Mine was the toughest I've ever had; there was very little if any flavor and no amount of lemon worked to give it any. The German fries need to be sliced, not cubed. Their Strudel is awful too...tough and has to be eaten with a sharp knife.
i enjoyed my dinner with my family their very much the service 100% GREAT AND THANK YOU AGAIN GREAT FOOD
Wonderful setting for a birthday party. They had a balloon on the table and brought out a sparkler on the German chocolate cake. Food was delicious. Music was fun. Such a great time.
Great food. Great service. Really nice people.
Been there before and will return.
Since I am of German descent, I always go back to the Edelweiss the capture the feeling of my families Homeland. It does a great job because of good people great food and good entertainment.
I hadn't been here in a long time so we went on a whim. It did not disappoint! Live music including accordion (!) which we really enjoyed. great food, it was the "Asparagus Festival" which my husband loves. He loved the asparagus soup, loved the asparagus/hollandaise schnitzel. I got the port schnitzel w/ sour kraut and german potato salad. All delicious! plus they were walking around with free samples of Lagunitas watermelon beer, which we subsequently ordered after tasting. All over great evening!
Wanted authentic German food in NW suburbs of Chicago with some old world atmosphere. Loved it
The experience was awesome. The pretzel was a delightful and the experience was awesome .I highly recommend this restaurant.
Edelweiss is our “go to” for Mother’s Day for several years now. Particularly good for authentic German food, many exciting seasonal and special menu items.
great place great people very good food and drinks
Fantastic German food, great ambiance, and friendly service! They are attentive but not overbearing. Always a wonderful time!
Dinner was an early Mother’s Day meal .
Service was slow. Food was fair.
Classic German-American fare served in a comfortable albeit "cheesy" surroundings. Service was great -- people are exceedingly nice. And food is well prepared, though not flashy or trendy. Good ol' German food in a restaurant that takes you back to a different era for Germans living in Chicago. Enjoyed it!
So very authentic. If it’s authentic German you’re looking for it should get five stars.
