Edelweiss Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Looking for an authentic old school German restaurant? They are that, but with a slightly upscale touch to the food. Service was good, seating comfortable, and food delicious. The desserts seemed like they were prepared by a pastry chef rather than just scooped or cut out of a store bought container. Would like to come back and experience dinner with live music on a weekend.
Love Edelweiss for our holiday family dinner. Decorations are lovely. Great Service but to be honest the food was just OK. I think I remember the food being better. I had the Chicken Kiev and so did my Daughter in Law. It was dry and tough. I won't order it again, not for $18.00 per plate. The soup was good and they always put bread on the table.
The wife and I enjoyed the good German food, beer and wine. We had a friendly waitress that we could chat with because the early evening hour meant the place was not terribly busy. We don’t live in the neighborhood and had to drive 45 minutes to get to the restaurant, but it was worth it.
10 of us enjoyed the food, drinks and music of Edelweiss' Oktoberfest. The band added a lot to the atmosphere. All of us loved our food selections which ranged from a bunch of sides for our vegetarians to schnitzel and the other typical german fare. The beer choices and the giant pretzel were great. Service was good and fast, although we never felt rushed. Entrees are a bit pricey, but you get a lot of food. I'd go back more often if entrees were a couple of dollars cheaper, but we will be back. Prost!
It was my first time there. We arrived early for our reservation and they seated us right away. The food was amazing. I had the giant pretzel, so good. I also had the pork goulash which was also good. My husband had the Steak Tartar and the Edelweiss Platter. The platter offers a little bit of everything. Dessert was great as well. Apple Bread Pudding. Warm with ice cream. It was perfect.
They had live music that night. It made the evening so enjoyable. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good, authentic German food.
My wife and I only go to Edelweiss once or twice a year because we live forty miles away. I can sum it up simply by saying that it is worth the drive. Sometimes it is just the two of us and sometimes we take friends or family members. We've never been disappointed.
The food is very good, well prepared and well presented, and the atmosphere is superb. I always get the impression that it is a well managed operation. The service people are always attentive and polite without being overbearing. It's a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a meal.
We had a wonderful time celebrating Oktoberfest with dear friends! The food was delicious, the ambiance authentic and the service outstanding! Our server , Marion was helpful in our food choices and could not have been friendlier. She made us feel like family! Can't wait to go back! Ps The authentic German music only added to our wonderful experience!
The owner (Mathew) was in that night and met us at the door as we entered. He asked what brought us in and I told him we'd eaten there last year during our stay in the area (for the Petersen Classic bowling tournament). I also told him I'd made the reservations the very day I found out the date for bowing to make sure we got in. The food is simply outstanding, Josephine is a phenomenal waitress and a true German treasure. Mathew bought us a round of drinks for coming back and I can assure you that nobody in our party left hungry! I already know we'll be back next year on August 11th!
This was our second visit while visiting family in Chicago. It was as good the second time as the first. Will, definitely, go back for a third. Excellent service, food and ambiance. Just like the German food I ate while living in Germany for 3 years
We had a great dinner in the biergarten on a beautiful Saturday night! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Two of us had the Edelweiss platter, which had a representative sample of all their best dishes - outstanding! We also loved the sauerbraten and wiener schnitzel. Two of us had beer flights, which were very reasonable. Our server, Josephine, was very attentive and so much fun!
The service was awesome just the manager or the owner of the restaurant was little unprofessional. When I walked in she asked me '' Can I help you" in way like I don't belong there. That second make me feel little uncomfortable but overall the server was awesome and the food was perfect.
What a find!!! Love German food and decided to check out this restaurant with some coworkers aimce in town for business. The outside looks like a Bavarian cottage cure and quanint. Inside there was German music playing and steins on display. We ate so much food but really wanted to try everything. We had the wurst sampler platter, stuffed cabbage, potato pancakes oh my. We then split wiener schnitzel and a different sausage platter. We got some extra sides like spaetzle, red cabbage and German potato salad.
The beer menu is grate!! Def enjoyed some Weiss beers and cordials. Desiree our server and Dawn the hostess were so nice. We loved it here
