Eddie V's - West Ave Ratings and Reviews
I love Eddie V's for many reasons, but this visit was not up to par. The kitchen and bar were both so slow. It took us 15 minutes to get cocktails, and one of the entrees came out 10 minutes after the table. Luckily our server, Todd, was really great and they removed the late entree from the bill. I'll be back, but I was definitely disappointed.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience dining at Eddie V's last night. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and they made it so special. They gave us a complimentary dessert, as do many fine dining establishments for birthdays, but the birthday card signed by all of the staff was an unexpected and lovely gesture. The manager stopped by not once, not twice, but three times to check on us. Our waiter was professional, knowledgeable, and personable, and his entree recommendation regarding a special off-the-menu seafood platter and bone-in filet for two was spot on. The seafood platter featured a perfectly cooked lobster tail, two scallops, and two crab stuffed shrimp. The bone-in filet was prepared Pittsburgh-style with an excellent crust, and it literally melted in your mouth. We also shared the chilled gulf shrimp as an appetizer, split the lobster bisque and a wedge salad, which they were kind enough to split into separate cups and plates for us, and had the truffle mac and cheese and crab fried rice as sides. Everything was so delicious. We hadn't been to Eddie V's in about a year, but we will certainly be going more regularly now.
We frequent this Eddie V's every few months. Nice bar with eating tables, a couple of not too intrusive televisions and top quality live jazz on many nights. The separate oyster bar sits largely abandoned near the entrance. Main dining is elegant and bustling, worthy of both groups (in several separate dining areas) or a date night. We ordered a filet and sea bass. Both were good but not outstanding. The filet was tender and flavorful but appeared to be on the short side of the advertised 8 ounces. The sea bass was a huge chunk of fresh tender fish that appeared to be boiled rather than baked, dropped into a bowl of a teriyaki sauce and somewhat clumsily offered with chopsticks. Our requested peppercorn steak sauce was forgotten; upon its late arrival, it appeared to be a mildly peppered form of bearnaise. The side of signature truffled mac 'n cheese was decadently delicious but a trifle overcooked. Two of the red wines sampled by the glass were overly chilled (estimated below 50 degrees) and were unremarkable, perhaps due in part to the temperature. East Coast oysters were fresh as advertised, typically of miniaturized size compared to their Gulf Coast counterparts. Service was friendly and professional though a bit sporadic in offering attention. Notwithstanding the foibles of this evening, EV's will still will remain one of our favorites.
Was first time visit and I'm very pleased with the service and food. Ambiance was a romantic setting, could use a little bit more light to see menus. Over all the best experience. I will be visiting again. Server was very knowledgeable and made it worth being there.
Eddie V’s was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the ambiance of this restaurant, definitely a great place for a date or special occasion. The food was also great everything was cooked just how we expected, service was amazing our server was knowledgeable and gave just enough attention, and displayed a pleasant attitude! GREAT EXPERIENCE!
Our waiter, Todd, was excellent! He was available, but not obtrusive and gave us some recommendations which turned out to be awesome choices. We were there for our birthdays and thoroughly enjoyed our meal; everything from the handcrafted cocktails to dessert was cooked and prepared well. The corn and fish tacos are superb (appetizer), the Fuji apple salad was fresh and crisp, and are steaks were done the way we asked. We will definitely go back!
Everything was just perfect for our special night out. The server Serena was so sweet and attentive. The manager (not sure what his name) was really nice and sent over some bubbly to kick start our evening. The food was just cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the Branzino. Talk about amazing. My husband had the 12 oz filet cooked just the way he likes it (very picky, hard to please) It really was a memorable meal. I will be back again!
This is such an amazing restaurant. Roberto, our server, was down to earth, funny and pleasant. The food- AAAHHHH- the food- AMAZING! From the lobster tacos to the redfish to the potatoes au gratin to the hot apple cobbler!!! Yum yum yum! Wish it was a shorter drive so I could go there more often. The manager was fantastically attentive throughout the entire dinner! Go here! Ignore the bad reviews. This place is top notch!
