Eddie V's - Scottsdale Quarter Ratings and Reviews
Eddie V's is my Wife's favorite restaurant for the Lobster Tacos appetizer. However, to me the noise level prevents normal conversation. We dined there on Valentines's Day and were pleased that we were placed in the Sapphire Room which is partially enclosed in glass. The atmosphere was perfect.
Like their focus on seafood instead of an afterthought. Fourth or fifth time there for us and will certainly go again though service was a little slow from the kitchen this night. Food great overall. Salads are amazingly good. One swordfish was a little dry, but other meals were perfect. One strong wish is that the bar singing be turned down a bit in volume. Gets a little much throughout a lot of the restaurant. You definitely look forward to the band taking a break so you can have a more sustained conversation. But still good to have some live music in the background.
I thought the ambiance was good, the lobster was not very good especially for the price, this was the twin lobster tails, the lemon drop martini was one of the worst I have had anywhere lots of lemon juice no triple sec. The lobster rice was very good, the rest just ok.
Very nice place. Not too crazy like some restaurant bars. Great band. Manager was very nice and bought us a round of drinks while we waited for our table. Nice gesture. Only suggestion is that the waiters helpers were a bit slow removing done and finished plates from the table. Maybe a little remedial training will correct that. I will definitely be back again.
Fish is a must here, and I've been very happy every time. My tepid review is based on two guests who both got steaks, and on the side dish. Neither guest was happy with the flavor of their steak, and the temperature of the steaks was mixed up (one got one too done, the other got his too rare). Most disappointing was the mac and cheese - thin, absolutely flavorless. Hopefully this was a one-time thing. I'll be back; one of my guests says he won't (and he lives there).
My swordfish was dry...very disappointing.
The Lobster Bisque was mediocre.
My wife's crab serving was small, not as advertised. She said she's had better crab at Red Lobster.
Service and ambiance were good.
Average meal for above average cost.
We will not return.
Food and atmosphere is always great at this location. It's usually pretty loud and it was true to form even on a Monday evening. The live music was great and always adds to the experience. Everyone in our large group greatly enjoyed their experience and especially loved the food. Most of us had seafood which was fantastic. Highly enjoyed the Chilean sea bass special of the evening and heard rave reviews about the steamed sea bass dish. Was a bit disappointed that I had mentioned several times in making the reservations, upon arrival and directly to our server that we were celebrating a couple birthdays. Received reassurance that candles would be brought out with complimentary desserts. Nothing! We ordered and paid for several desserts...no celebration. Bit of a letdown at the end, but everyone left full and happy.
This is my first time here and i am not impressed with the staff. Our waiter, Dano was very good and the food is very good. I did feel a little rushed through the service.
My disappointment began when I entered the restaurant at 5:15 for a 5:30 reservation. There were 2 customers in the dining room and the host showed us a table directly in front of the dining room where everyone walks by. Since the restaurant was empty, I asked for a booth and they told me that ALL the booths were reserved , which sounds ridiculous since half the place were booths. We were seated finally at a decent table but I watched people come into the place which starting to fill up around 6pm. The restaurant emptied out by 8pm, and there were booths still available. That was very irritating.
To top it off, they sent me an email stating that they cancelled my reservation. I emailed opentable and the points were reinstated.
We have been to EV's many times and we have always had a wonderful experience. This time, the service was not good. They cleared the table while people were still eating; took a drink (scotch) away before it was empty but we stopped him; we asked about ordering a side after the entrees came and the server discouraged us by saying it would take a while to have them get to the table. She then returned and asked if we wanted to order one but we declined and thought her response was not the smartest. We also were seated in a booth outside the restroom area. During our meal, someone was putting away flatware - it was very loud and went on for about 15 minutes. We all were surprised by our experience Sunday night.
The restaurant was extremely busy on Saturday evening with many large parties. With that said we were a party of six. One of my personal pet peeves when dining out is when all dinners are not served at the same time. Three of our entree arrived cold and had to be sent back. Our server was very accommodating and immediately took them back but unfortunetly the kitchen was backed up and we had to wait another fifteen minutes for new entrees to arrive. Trying to make this right the server took care of our appitizers when the bill arrived but there was still some issues with our bill. Eddie V's is a high end restaurant and this time they just didn't live up to their reputation.
