What a disappointment! We made the reservation a month in advance. It was both our anniversary and Valentine’s Day and we noted this in our reservation requesting a window table. With 4:45pm reservation this should have been easy, apparently not.
When we arrived, they tried to seat us upstairs on the enclosed patio. I was wearing a cocktail dress and it was way too cold and with a loud group next to the table so we politely requested to sit inside instead.
We were told their were no window tables inside, so we requested the best view possible. As we were seated we noted there was indeed a window table open plus 3 tables on the second row and 5 open tables on the third row none of which were seated within the next 15-20 minutes. Instead they sat us on the back section, right next to the cash register and the bar stand where waiters came to get drinks and chat loudly basically worst table in the entire restaurant. Additionally, they were setting up 2 large tables right next to us blocking our ocean view and workers chatting loudly during the process...wow. They completely forgot to bring our salads, our fish arrived first, it was ordered medium well and was undercooked, actually partially raw. When I ordered a cup of decaf I was told there was none brewed so the would just bring me an Americano instead, really?? What a nightmare. No mention of our anniversary either. Bottom line, our anniversary dinner was a miserable experience and very disappointing. We have always had a nice experience at EVs before but this is very hard to excuse much less forget. Thanks for ruining our anniversary evening.

We’ve been here several times and have always enjoyed having a drink in their second floor lounge before dinner. Apparently, they’ve either done away with the lounge or decided to use all available seating for Valentine’s Day. The food was lovely but our service was not very good. For the prices you pay here, you expect top notch everything. I doubt we’ll be coming back.

We had an amazing time and a perfect date because of the staff at Eddie V’s. This is a pricey restaurant but every penny was worth it! Thank you so much Eddie V’s ❤️

This was our first dining experience at Eddie V's and will not be our last!! The service and food was outstanding. Enjoyed the jazz band, not too loud. Enjoyed the crab cake, tuna tarte, and lamb. Wine list was outstanding. We met the General Manager who was professional and very engaging. We plan to dine at your new location in Palm Desert soon. Perfect date night!!

A favorite La Jolla spot. Great food, great drinks, extensive wine list. Service is always superb. We visit from out of town annually for several months per year and Eddie V’s in La Jolla Cove is a regular stop. We’ve also eaten at the Eddie V’s in downtown San Diego. Although the two Eddie V’s share a name, the two restaurants are completely different in atmosphere. If you are looking for a great meal with a nice vibe, go to La Jolla. If you want a more formal meal in a stuffier vibe, eat downtown.

The restaurant has really good views but the cleanliness is very poor, it even smells bad, very bad... the floors are filthy and if you go thru the kitchen to get to the restrooms you get a not-so-nice smell, also the bar smells weird, like wine gone bad. The food is good but not excellent, had something else in mind since Eddie V’s from Downtown SD is great! Hope they can improve this and also refurbish the restaurant since the chairs are ripping apart too.

Great evening at Eddie V's as usual. It was especially good this visit as we had an amazing server, Roxanne......she was so fun, knowledgable about the menu, etc. She was there when we needed her, but not overly "hovering". A perfect server in every way. Husband had the salmon and I had the Branzini. Both fish dinners perfectly cooked and delicious.

All met our expectation with one exception. Apps and bar service were great. Somehow, our main dish was delayed. The manager came out to talk to us and explained that the chef had prepared one dish ginger which it was explained to them, one of us was very allergic to ginger. After the dish was re-plated, both meals were served by the manager. All of this took about 45 minutes. He apologized and stated the other order was much smaller and would have another one prepared. We told him not to worry and we would be fine with the serving size.

The food delivered was as good as always. Although the service, the apps and food were great, the manager went above and beyond, besides remaking the food and being apologetic to make this right.

This experience will have us revisit this Eddie V’s.

Food was fantastic as always. Server was nice but a little slow. I wouldn’t call it inattentive but it was on the verge of that compared to what we are used to here...
They were busy... so we were a little more understanding about it.

The service was not very good. We had to wait quite a long time to get our initial drinks and even longer to get our second drinks. It took the waiter about 25 minutes or more to take our order for dinner.

This was a delayed holiday team dinner for a party of ten. As soon as we got to the restaurant, we were treated like VIP’s. We were seated at a table with an incredible view of the ocean. We wanted pictures, and our server, Alex, went outside with us, and took a ton of pictures of us with four different phones! We had two servers for our entire dinner, including staff who kept our drinks full and our table clean. The level of service by the staff here far exceeds any other restaurant in San Diego. We are true foodies, and we take customers out to dinner all the time. No other restaurant compares in terms of service. The food was ridiculously fantastic! We were eating off each other’s plates so we could taste as much as possible. Not one single dish was a disappointment. The sides were amazing. I had intended to be good with my diet, but that all went out the window as soon as the bread basket arrived:-). Alex really went above and beyond. Our boss’s favorite dessert is bananas foster, which hardly any restaurant here can make because it is flambéd. Alex not only got the chef to make it for us, but it was served on the house! Along with a couple other amazing desserts that we could not get enough of! I can’t say enough great things about this restaurant. We will most definitely go back. We will absolutely bring our customers here. And for sure I will book this restaurant for our quarterly executive dinner! Thank you Eddie V’s for a fabulous dinner.

There was an extraordinarily large and LOUD group near us which really made it very difficult for 3 of us to enjoy our own conversation which we had difficulty hearing. Not pleasant!

When we arrived they had given our table to someone else, and didnt realize until they walked us over to it? It appeared the whole restaurant was overbooked and in disarray as we were not the only customers in limbo. The wine by the glass tasted as if it had turned and was not high quality for the caliber of the restaurant. The steak and crab were quite good, but the crab fried rice was soggy and tasted over buttered and salted - it used to be a stand out at Eddie V's.

Came for our anniversary. I’ll start with the good: The hostess did wish us a happy anniversary; the server was friendly and also mentioned our anniversary; there was a small scattering if pink petals on our table, which was cute; and we were given a complimentary mini bananas foster dessert that was delicious. However, our sealed patio table had a chilly draft coming through the plastic barrier; a loud table of millennial girls was right by us; and we had to request twice for our candle to be lit. Not the serene atmosphere we expected. The service was also surprisingly slow for the level of restaurant that this is, especially given that we were celebrating a special occasion. It took over 15 minutes to just get our starter soup and salad, which they did apologize for. We also ended up pouring our own wine. I don’t mind doing that, but typically places of this caliber pour the wine for you. The food was good but definitely not great. Definitely overpriced for the quality, unfortunately. Everyone was nice, but we left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Truluck’s still firmly holds the trophy for best food, atmosphere (if you go post-sunset) and service.

I love the food and the place, THAT IS when they seat you inside the restaurant. They placed us in what was a improvised saloon so they could take more costumers. But felt completely out of the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Dont do that
