Eddie V's - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went in to celebrate my birthday. We sat in the bar by choice and listened to a small, three piece band. They were great, and the atmosphere was perfect. We had a wonderful meal. Great food, perfectly prepared and timed. Our service was spot-on. I plan to go back, and I have already recommended Eddie V's to friends. I can't say enough good things about the entire experience.
First, I should note that Eddie V's is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. The food, service, and ambiance are always wonderful. ALMOST always, that is. Last Saturday evening our group dined there to celebrate mine and a friend's birthday. We booked through Open Table and confirmed via phone - party of five @ 7:30pm. When we arrived, we were informed they had us down for a party of nine. We corrected them and they quickly reformatted our table. This seemed a minor bump in the road until they escorted us past at the bar, through the main dining room, past the back bar, and down the hall - to our table in the overflow large party room at the back of the restaurant! There were three large (15+) parties sitting there, two large-screen TV's tuned to football games, and a pretty healthy noise level. I had to look around to be sure we were in the same restaurant! We voiced our dismay to the hostess who completely ignored us and plopped our menu's down as fast as she could. As the place was packed, we knew it would be quite a wait for another table, so we decided to make the best of it. Our waiter was ok, but struggled to provide the service we've come to expect from Eddie V's due to the volume of people he had to wait on in the "banquet" room. The TV's were totally distracting and just made our nice dinner seem like we were at a hotel convention center. The only saving grace was the food - which was excellent as always. I was disappointed in our experience and hope others do not encounter this type of service on their special occasions.
I started enjoying EV in Austin long before it opened in Dallas. In Dallas we eat often with friends and with our daughter and so-in-law. We also eat on a date night for just the two of us. I WILL never make a reservation again at this restaurant on Open Table. I will call and insist on a decent table and a decent waiter. We were in the last table in the furthest room (in fact, it was in a room I had never been in before). The room consisted of a table of 9, a table of 12 and a table of 8. We ere in the far corner just a 2. It was loud. The waiter was incompetent and never around. We ordered cocktails, which were slow to arrive. I ordered two appetizers, both of which were served at the same time. My wife ordered oysters and then lobster tacos. I was through with both appetizers before my wife got the lobster. My order was wrong! I ordered tuna tartar, but I got the steak tartar and lobster sals combo, which I hate. My wife finally insisted that I eat my crab cake appetizer before it got to cold. I finally agreed and was through before her taco (an appetizer) was brought. We ordered over time five glasses of wine and the service of wine was terrible. Our waiter was confined to serving the table of 12 so I had to ask a bus boy to go fine our second glasses of wine. I had to get up and go to an empty table in another room to get a fork and small plate to serve myself a portion the crab and rice dish we had ordered to share because I had finished my two appetizers and my dishes had been cleared before my wife got her food. We gave up on any attempt to order dessert. We just wanted out!
I had been dying to eat here for what seems like forever. After hearing enough rave reviews I finally made it for a date night the other night. The main dining area was a little formal for our mood so we sat in the lounge area at a high booth near the bar area. It was super dim and romantic. Live jazz music was playing, and it was at just the right volume. Our server was amazing. She was extremely attentative and she knew the menu very well. My boyfriend ordered a bone in filet that was on special, I decided on the 8 oz filet with asparagus and we split the potstickers and calamari as an appetizer. The potstickers and calamari were amazing! Super tender and amazing flavor! My filet was cooked to perfection but my boyfriends was a little overdone. We did not even complain, as our server could automatically tell it was not cooked to the correct temperature upon walking up to our table and setting her eyes on it. She went out of her way to make it right and so did the manager. They offered to take it off the ticket right away and cook us a new steak which the manager hand delivered himself. It has been a long time since I have been somewhere where the customer service was so amazing that I didn’t even remember the mistake that was made. We ate the other steak the next day for breakfast:) and it still melted in our mouths! Exceptional service, sexy ambiance, and really good food. We definitely don’t regret the trip to Eddie V’s and we will definitely be back.
Had a 8:15 reservation for Thanksgiving and had to wait 30min before getting seated. Then tried to order the crab legs and they were out. The potatoes and Brussels sprouts we wanted as sides, out. To top it off they were also out of the apple pie we wanted for dessert. It was not the best best dinner experience, especially for Thanksgiving. Very disappointing.
The experience was just OK. After hearing so much about the restaurant I thought I would be blown away. Pros: Excellent waitstaff, menu items can be adjusted anyway you like. Cons: Nasty bathrooms, too dim, customers who were extremely loud were not addressed. I understand it was Thanksgiving but it took over an hour to get our meal and staff kept apologizing. The starters were great but the meal I could have made myself at home. Although a chain, I have enjoyed experiences at Pappadeux more.
Went for Thanksgiving and it was a disaster - we were seated almost an hour after our reservation time. And then we weren’t brought our appetizers for 30 minutes after we were seated - only thing brought was cold, sub-par bread. Then they forgot our salads. The ambience was terrible to boot. Was over $70/pp dinner and felt like I was on a bad cruise ship - def way better places to go in dallas!
We were very, very disappointed. We had a reservation at 7:00 p.m. and were not seated until about 7:45. The worst part was that no one seemed to know when seating would be available. Eddie V's, based on two experiences now, is totally dysfunctional as far as taking care of patrons.
Most experiences I’ve had at this venue have been great. But our visit on Thanksgiving left us somewhat disappointed. Nothing was up to the usual level of expectation. It seemed the restaurant was overbooked or unorganized or both. For a $400 bill for dinner for 5, I would have expected everything to be perfect. Do not recommend for a holiday.
Celebrated Thanksgiving and had a table in the bar with some great music. Service was excellent, menu consistent with our taste for seafood and vegetarian options. The only disappointment was that there was only a pumpkin tart instead of some prime choices. Turkey was delicious. Loved the lobster taco.
The wait was pretty long - we had a reservation, but were seated 35 minutes late. The service was excellent and the food was perfectly prepared. We ordered calamari for an appetizer and it was fried in a bed of rice noodles and carrots and scallions with a yummy ginger, sweet sour sauce. The filet was very nice although a bit burned on the edges. The reddish and salmon were perfect and the accompanying share plates were great. Only disappointing thing was the dessert. The apple tart and the chocolate cake were just not that good. All in all and very nice dinner!
Thanksgiving Day and they were busy. Had a 12:15pm reservation and we did not regret a single moment of not having our family meal at home. From start to finish the staff was attentive without being overbearing. I love that oysters can be purchased by the each, since I am the only one that likes them. I wasn’t stuck stuffing myself with a half dozen. Soups were hot and flavorful, but the star of the show was the steaks. The filet is bigger than most other steak houses and it was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I normally get a NY Strip, but the server recommended the bone in ribeye; her recommendation was spot on! The scallops were tender and very tasty. Cocktails were unique (have the 24karat), well prepared and presented. Thank you for the wonderful Thanksgiving meal!
I really like their regular menu, but thought we would try the thanksgiving special. What a huge dissapointment. The stuffing was dry and tasteless and everything else was mediocre at best. I took my parents because they hadn’t been there. And won’t again after the experience.
When we got there it was nice. However it took forever to get our food and when it was addressed our server had an attitude. The manager came out and he was very polite and corrected the issue with the food and made my husband’s bday dinner a lot better. I don’t remember the managers name but he was an awesome person. The service got one star because of the waiter we had.
A group of us went to celebrate and sat in the lounge. The live music was awesome, it was a great backdrop to the evening and wasn't too loud. At several points the whole lounge was focused on the musicians - they were outstanding. The food is also fantastic - steak and lobster tails are highly recommended.
This was my second visit to an Eddie V's restaurant and both were exceptional and enjoyable. Great care is clearly taken in the creation and execution of the fare. The service was great, including the manager visiting the table to ensure all was well. If you have room at the end, try the apple cobbler. You simply will not be disappointed at this restaurant.
