Eddie V's - City Centre Ratings and Reviews
We had the Texas red fish & it was drowned in a heavy sauce that was not fit for the light fish. I had to scrape mine off, and my girlfriend couldn’t even eat hers. We originally wanted the Chilean sea bass but it ran out by 8pm. The crab cake was delicious, but even the apple pie wasn’t good. I was disappointed because I’ve been here before & it was great the first go round & we were hosting a bday for someone out of town & it just didn’t live up to the expectations.
We have dined at Eddie V’s several times and the food and service is usually excellent. This time, however was a bit of a mixed bag. Most of the food was excellent, but I ordered the Filet Mignon and it was good, but not quite excellent. Also, the service was excellent until toward the end of our meal. The restaurant got noticeably busier and service dropped off considerably. The waiter is usually right there and one never has to wait, but there were a couple of instances where our waiter was no where to be found as we were trying to order dessert and get our check. That would not be unusual for most restaurants, but not the standard for Eddie V’s.
This was our second time to dine at Eddie V’s and just like our first visit two weeks ago, it was superb again!!! Thank you for making our birthday dinners so enjoyable and delicious!! Also, a huge shout out to Leslie for taking care of us on both occasions!!!
Always love your food...Thanksgiving Turkey Lunch Special was awesome. The cobbler was also great. The service at Eddie V's is always excellent. please, please don't ever sell out and get taken over by the mega chains that destroy all the local atmosphere restaurants.
Love you EddieV....
love supporting independent restaurants...
The only portion of the evening we were a little disappointed was the steak. as good as usual. We did not complain because they were very helpful in getting us seated in a area we enjoyed. The steak was not as tasty and a little under cooked for the medium rare requestedThe steak was not .
I had never been to Eddie V's before and was checking Open Table for a good restaurant not far from the Westchase area. Eddie V's was great. Loved the location, ambience is very lovely and refined. This was a business meeting, and our server was helpful and nearby when needed. Everyone enjoyed their meal - we all ordered fish (swordfish, scallops and shrimp l'oregano) and. We ordered a couple of the side dishes (spinach and potatoes au gratin) which were terrific. Wine was lovely as well. I will return and recommend to my colleagues.
The ambiance was SPECTACULAR, it was perfect. Drove 2 hours and back to get to this place and it was worth every second of it. Had the shrimp and crab fried rice for main course and the calamari for appetizer. It was delightful. Every bite was insanely amazing. Perfectly romantic night out.
Our Waiter, Matt, was awesome: Funny, attentive without being obnoxious, energetic... The food as always was awesome. The stuffed shrimp under the "indulgence" portion of the menu wasn't really "stuffed shrimp." It was tasty, but the stuffing was inside the small curl of grilled shrimp. Everything else was spot on!
Reserved a table for 8 for a business dinner, with a variety of dietary restrictions (paleo, vegetarian). Great environment, with bar and live music off to the side, but a relatively quiet and elegant dining room, with well-lit kitchen in full view, but behind glass. Fairly smooth service, although main dishes were served before sides, which took a while to deliver. Standout entrees included the surf & turf (8 ounce Filet Mignon & South African Lobster Tail, both prepared as ordered, and exquisite examples of both - with velvety steak and sweet, butter-drenched lobster. Other faves were the Crab Cakes and Gulf Shrimp Oreganato. Truffle mac & cheese, decadently creamy with a salty sweetness, and excellent braised brussel sprouts were favorite sides. Crisp & pungent Caesar salad was a standout. Pomegranate Mule was outstanding, and earned a couple of re-ordered rounds. Altogether an excellent meal all around, will definitely return when in Houston, and inspired to visit the local Eddie V's.
We arrived at 5PM and were seated at our usual table immediately.
It was so cold in the restaurant we asked the server four times if he could
have them turn down the air conditioning. It took over twenty minutes
before they turned down the air conditioner. This is way too long to make
your customers uncomfortable.
We have always ordered and enjoyed the lobster bisque until this visit.
The lobster bisque they presented to us had a fishy smell and tasted very
fishey, and was unedible. We had the waiter remove and send back to the kitchen.
The chef came out to our table and asked why we returned the bisque
and we explained to him that we have always enjoyed this bisque until this visit.
The chef explained to us that they changed the recipe about four month ago
and no one has complained about the change except us.
We will no longer order the bisque at this restaurant.
