Eddie V's - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Nice place they were well staffed very friendly the bartender made the perfect martini. The food was Ok nothing spectacular. The turn off for us was they cut the King crab down the middle and it was dried out. The blue cheese wedge salad was very good. They have a lot of good reviews so we may try again
I have always had a wonderful time at Eddie V’s. This time I took my 18 year old son and his 19 year old girlfriend who was home from college. We all walked out after dinner and agreed that our waiter really seemed annoyed with us. We didn’t order alcohol, and that was met with a deflated response. We ordered entrees with sides, and he made a comment about my son not touching the one side he ordered ( he had it wrapped to take home). I got the feeling that he would have preferred a table that drank more, ordered more, etc. We ate and left, choosing to get dessert elsewhere. I was really disappointed as this has never been the case with prior meals. It would have been nice for us to feel more welcome after coming out on a sub zero night to dine in person.
The hostess that seated us was not very friendly. We were seated next to a service area where wait staff cleaned up tables and it was noisy & intrusive. It was not a busy night, there were many empty tables. Hannah our waitress was fantastic. The waiter filling water glasses was not very observant, had to ask twice for more water. The food was very good, especially the lobster tacos, the scallops, and the crab fried rice. It was very dark, half way through dinner our candle was relit and then we could see better. Eddie V's was a one time experience for us. For over $150.00 I had higher expectations.
We had dinner here on NYE. It was such the perfect NYE experience! We were seated in the lounge so we were able to listen to the live band through dinner. The band was great! There was a complimentary champagne toast at midnight accompanied with favors to ring in the New Year. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the filet, which was cooked perfectly!
Overall, our group of 10 had a good time. As always, the food and cocktails were outstanding. Unfortunately, we had higher expectations for the service. There were delays in food delivery and we were late to a NYE party after a few of our group members had to assist the coat check team with finding two of our coats that were improperly placed. I’m hoping the night’s challenges were caused by NYE chaos.
We had a 6pm reservation for dinner after a theater matinee. We arrived almost an hour early and were immediately accommodated with a lovely booth. Our waiter was courteous, professional and knowledgeable and the 4 of us all thought our food was outstanding. We each ordered fish dinners and we're all pleased with our selections. We shared the crab meat/fried rice side and were blown away with how good it was. This was the 3rd time that we have experienced Eddy V's and it has been consistently good. Since we ate so early we enjoyed an after dinner drink in the bar. All in all, a lovely experience. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I dine at Eddie V's regularly. We were there for happy hour and a quite dinner. For starts, this visit has to be our worst experience to date. For some ungodly reason the host seated a family with a couple of infant children in the bar area. The crying infant drowned out the live band. The adult at the table requested that the server prepared a "baby bottle" with milk REALLY. The infant walked the seating area and drove his toy car along the wall.
To make matters worst, my wife and I had to return our meals because the food was presented to us and it was literally cold (tempature). Totally unbelievable. Shall I say, our dining experience was memorable but not in a pleasant fashion.
We had excellent service. Our server was wonderful. The food was very good.
If one thing needed improvement, it would be the host area. They were inattentive
and not very professional. That would not stop me from recommending Eddie V's (which
I already have to a few people) nor would it stop me from dining there again.
This is one of the best classy and fun venues in Chicago...the lounge is simply amazing: regular menu and live quality jazz every night...well-managed, stylish special restaurant! Never disappointed us...can only recommend it for special events or just a casual, but quality, fun evening...
It was great as always. It is great to go to a restaurant where the patrons are not wearing pajamas , flip flops or baseball caps. i wanted to go someplace festive where the atmosphere complemented the food. You could hear the music because people were speaking in moderate tones. I do recommend it to all my friends.
The service was the only negative portion of our experience. I found this strange because of the noticeable amount of staff at work during our meal. I actually pointed this out to my wife while we waited for our table hoping for a good service experience. Fortunately the food and atmosphere make it easy to overlook the poor service by our waiter. We will visit again in hope of the complete experience.
