Eddie V's - 5th Street Ratings and Reviews
We arrived 30 minutes ahead of time for our reservation which was confirmed the day before. We decided to have a drink in the bar which was very crowded. We ordered our drinks and stood while we drank them... we started to walk around to the front of the restaurant and a couple happened to be getting up and we started to sit down when the girl working the bar with a ponytail and red bead necklace said I'm sorry but I am saving those seats for this other couple that has been waiting a long time.....??? We felt this was not acceptable since the bar seating is open seating. We left the seats and went to the front to check on our table and was told that they were waiting for a booth that I requested. I told them that is fine we can wait for the booth. We finally were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time and did not get seated in a booth as requested. Our waiter was acceptable and the food was good but the experience in the bar and the fact that we did not get the table we requested (after arriving 30 minutes early and then being seated 30 minutes late) will make me think twice before I go here again.
We were celebrating my husbands birthday with family and friends. Everything was perfect from the setting, the food, drinks and especially the service. Jose was our server for the night and he was friendly and professional! The only thing I regret is not tipping him more than 20%. We'll make it up to him on our next visit!
We had. 5.15 reservation . Had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. When we were seated we were seated with Molly as our server with five other parties next to each other at same time. Molly never came to our table . Had her assistant Eli take care of us, who was fabulous!!! The Eddiev at arboretum is fabulous this one is really really bad . Will never go back
We enjoyed outstanding service and food all the way around. Before we arrived, I received a call to ask about the birthday celebrations and what could be done to make our night memorable. The flower petals and complimentary desserts were a pleasant surprise. I definitely recommend Eddie V’s for any special occasion.
It took 15 minutes to bring my Cabernet, then when they brought it they poured it into my wife's glass that still had Rose in it. Then it took another 10 minutes to bring another Cabernet and they didn't even offer to replace my wife's Rose. We ended up being charged for the Cabernet mistake and the mgr had to remove it from our bill. Then when our steaks came out they only brought one of our side dishes and did not bring the other until we were halfway done with our meal. Server did not offer to take our valet ticket to the front, we had wait and ask for water refills. We come here for every special occasion and this was not the service we normally receive. Maybe it's time to try another place for our anniversary
This was my first visit but will not be my last. I can't imagine another trip to Austin without a stop at Eddie V's. Our waiter had been an employee for 17 years.... so his recommendations were top-notch. I had the swordfish, but blackened and covered with avocado. My guest had what he called "the best steak of his entire life" - which was a NY Strip, I believe. We had crab fried rice as a side.... which could have been an entire meal and still garnered 5 stars!
Eddie's offers an extensive menu with lots of tempting options. Our steaks were tender and flavorful. With a group of six, we enjoyed being able to order sharable portions of side dishes. We arrived early for our reservation, but were seated immediately, and we weren't rushed to vacate the table after them meal. The service is attentive and professional. The event that brought us there is an annual one, and Eddie's could become a tradition with us.
Eddie V's was the last restaraunt visited by myself and colleagues on a business trip. We celebrated my birthday as well. From the reservation, initial greeting, seating, into by our waiter, to dinner presentation and my surprise Birthday dessert, ALL was impeccable. Its not often thst service, setting and food quality happen in one dining experience anymore; Eddie V's was an exception. Our waiter Aaron was wonderful.
Went to Eddie-V’s with a business colleague while visiting Austin. Service was very efficient, drinks were large. Bread was excellent. Shrimp and Crab chopped salad was outstanding. Tuna tempura was a large portion and well prepared. Berries and whipped cream was also excellent, and cost about what it would have in the supermarket, if I could get berries that good in the supermarket. Only drawbacks: coffee could have been hotter and the restaurant looks a bit dated.
But the food was really special. I really liked Eddie-V’s.
I was on vacation from New York and was lucky enough to have had dinner at Eddie V's! We sat at a table in the bar room where there was a jazz trio playing. The bartenders were very efficient, yet pleasant at this very busy bar.
We went on a Monday night...there was nobody in the streets of Austin but Eddie V's was packed.
The food and service were spot on and the drinks were surprisingly not too expensive. We had a filet and a ribeye which were so good! Also had a shrimp dish which was very good but once you have a bite of the ribeye.....
Oh, also shared a bananas foster which was the best one I'd ever had.
We all really enjoyed the night and agreed that it was among our favorite meals ever! Everything was just right....
This was our first visit, but it won't be our last. Service was outstanding. Our group ordered meat and seafood entrees and all were delicious. I recommend ordering several sides to split. The portions are generous and it was fun to share. We saved a little room for desert and I recommend sharing those too. We will definitely return.
Restaurant was excellent and poor at the same time. Service at the bar very poor. Waited for 10 minutes just to get a glass of wine. It was not busy- bartender focused only on the regulars and the rest of us were ignored. Service at dinner- outstanding. Waiter was very attentive. Food- crab cakes were awesome! Excellent pick! MEDITERRANEAN BRANZINO awful... dry and overly salty. Worst cooked fish I have ever eaten. Very disappointing. Definitely not worth the money. Shrimp and scallop entrees were good. Macaroni and cheese outstanding. All in all not worth the money for the food that we were served except the crab cakes.
