Eddie Papa's American Hangout Ratings and Reviews
This was the first time we ate at Eddie Papas. We met friends at Eddie Papas for dinner and requested a quiet table because we have not seen each other for a year and wanted to talk. We were seated and realized that the location was not going to work for us and requested to move. We sat at another table which was away from others but as the evening progressed (Sunday) the tables around us filled up. We are all seniors (except my wife) and even though we can still get lively, our hearing is not as good as years ago and with other people talking near us the noise level at times was high. A lot of restaurants these days have acoustic issues due to the architecture. The waitress (or server) was fabulous and the food was good. I would recommend for a birthday party or a large group of friends for a celebration, but I would not recommend for a date night, anniversary or reconnecting with old friends.
Very good dinner, the Artichoke Soup was very good and my husband enjoyed his sandwitch and fries. The service was just ok, a little slow. Then when we had finished dinner the waiter left the check and pretty much ran off, we had to call him back to inform him we would like to see the dessert menu.
Great food. Timely service. It’s rude for wait staff to assume that you’ll leave all your change for their tip. Just bring the change back to the customer. Don’t ask, “Do you need change?” This always leave a bad aftertaste. You can say, “I’ll be right right back with your change,” and leave it to your customer to tell you if they want any change. But it always shows a lack of the decorum to ask, “Do you need change?” This has to stop.
Went for lunch. Excellent service.
Had our 4 year old Granddaughter with us she loved the plain grilled chicken breast. She is a very picky eater. Her favorite part was the huge pile of pink cotton candy that came at the end of the meal. It’s there signature ending.
This wasn't our first time here, but unfortunately we did not have good service experience this time.
The timing was off - appetizers and 2/3 kids meals came out at the same time, then the 3rd kids meal later. By the time the rest of the adult's meals came out, the kids were done and had to wait for the adults to finish. Constantly had to flag our server down to get anything - if we could even find him. His service area was huge - from one corner to the next.
We came with visiting family members and the cotton candy was supposed to be the highlight of the meal for the kids. However, we had to ask for it, then wait for it and when it finally came, it was a small portion for a table of 7.
Disappointing experience. We've had inconsistent service me experiences here and will need to think again about bringing visitors for a special meal here.
Atmosphere was fun, lively and energetic. Food was only okay. Others (including server) praised the fish and chips so that's what I ordered. Fries were cold, and the fish was just okay. Watching neighboring table enjoy table-side s'mores was a highlight, as was seeing everyone else get cotton candy at the end of the meal. We were told this was for everyone, but we were not served any. When asked about it, our server comped our beignets (although this could be because we pointed out that they were under-cooked and doughy). Overall, good comfort food, great for a group, large menu of items.
I was in town looking for something and this was right next to my hotel. I decided to eat at the bar. I like the general conversation when dining alone.
The wait staff and bar tender were extremely nice and the manager thanked me for my business. Nice touch
The two whiskey sours I drank were hand crafted with Jamison, another nice touch.
I had the fish and chips and again crafted perfectly. Crisp Frits and a thin breading on the fish.
Overall a great experience
Thanks for making me feel welcome
This must have been a bad night...
We arrived on time for a 545 p.m. reservation, were seated in an almost empty dining room, and then proceeded to wait 10-15 minutes before anyone paid attention to us. When the waiter finally approached, we ordered drinks and dinner at the same time. Drinks came back via another server followed by the entrees. Our waiter then returned to present the check as we began eating. I indicated that we might want dessert and needed more water. My mother had the Delmonico steak and it was fatty, connected by gristle--simply a bad cut of meat. Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to seek a replacement as we never saw the waiter again!
After another long wait, another server took pity upon us and brought the check (again no dessert). It was probably a mistake but we forced the issue and requested the dessert menu, ordered a sundae and got the check. All in all, a terrible experience and my first bad one at Eddie Papa's.
I ordered an omelette, one if the worst I’ve ever had, flat as a pancake with fried veggies on top. My husband got the smallest pieces I’ve seen in a full order of fish and chips. I should have known something was up when I smelled the bathroom when I walked in. Not the cleanest place I’ve eaten at. But the receptionist and servers were pleasant. Won’t be back.
We love eating here. The food is always good. I especially appreciate that the menu gets changed up regularly with the Seasonal Favorites section. It is very noisy in the dining room, but that is because it is always packed! The servers are always very friendly. I have had a couple incidents where they did not get our order special requests correct (no onions on the salad, etc.). Nothing that's a big deal or that would make me not want to go back. Best part - fresh cotton candy with the check!
I've started to use Eddie Papa's much more often of late and have not been disappointed. This visit was for dinner with our daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren. Meal choices were extensive, as were the beer and wine selections and the kids had the choice of kids or bigger kids meals. We all enjoyed our meals, and, for the kids, the highlight was the cotton candy presented at the end of the meal.
Food was ok. We liked the ambiance. The waitress Heather is not so attentive to the patrons. Didn't come by to get take our payment. We had to ask another waiter attending to another table to take care our guest check. We ended up taking a two hours lunch. Don't do at your lunch time, unless you are not planning on going back to work after lunch.
8 of us had dinner here the other night. Two families of four with kids age 6, 7, 8 and 9. They had a great kids menu and all of the kids enjoyed their food and the wiki stix toy the restaurant gave to them. The adults were happy with the food too and the drinks were very good. We celebrated our son's 8th birthday and the staff was very sweet and accommodating. We were one of 3 birthdays there that night and the crowd was cheerful and fun. We were staying next door at the Courtyard while passing through town on our vacation, but we wish we had a place like this near our home.
Always a fun place and a great place for the kids to get a sugar high! Free pixie sticks at the counter and free cotton candy at the end of the meal. They also give the kids twisty sticks to twist into shapes to occupy their time while waiting. Wide variety of food. Every month they have a different theme. The day we went it was Hawaiian theme food but they also have other things to choose from. I had the lanai pineapple fish which was good. We also ate the New Orleans shrimp and crawfish po'boy which other than being served on a soft roll (in Louisiana they use French bread) was very good too. Kids had pasta with red sauce which eh, is pasta for kids. Nothing exciting there. However the kids did order the Smore's dessert which comes with a small fire pot in which you were able to roast your marshmallows then dip it in chocolate sauce and put it between graham crackers. Remember that sugar high I told you about?! This was followed by the cotton candy! This place is always a good place to have a casual eats, which the kids also find fun!
