Eddie Merlot's - Pittsburgh Ratings and Reviews
The food was decent, but our server was terrible (Eddie). When we spend that kind of money to go out to dinner, we expect our server to act like he enjoys his job and not talk down about his co workers. And $18 for valet? Hyde Park is a better choice for us, unfortunately.
Had the wagyu steak amazing apps were great ...side dishes were not so good the au gratin potatoes were still raw n lightly warm the brussel sprouts were completely raw...had a table basically right in front of the kitchen..very loud ..service was good and desserts were amazing ...will visit again .hope the 2nd time will be amazing
Our second time there. Beautiful decor. Attentive service. Delicious entrees and appetizers. The only comment would address the desserts. They need to find something other than creme brûlée, carrot cake, and chocolate cake. The only dessert missing was cheesecake. Does every restaurant have to have the same heavy repetitive desserts?
I’d definitely go back any time.
The service was impeccable as always. One of us ordered the 3 filet medallions which were delicious and the tater tots - which were not what was expected, but tasted really good.
I had the shrimp and would not order again. They were almost like steak in their consistency rather than like lobster which is more what I am used to. They tasted fine.
Yes, the food is fantastic, and the service is impeccable....but for most of the world this is going to be a special occasion restaurant. We arrived a little before 5, and took the bartenders recommendation on martinis...spot on. Since they were slow, the maitre d' was kind enough to tell us to enjoy our cocktails and we could be seated whenever we were ready. Our waiter was very personable and knowledgeable, and directed us to a wine on special that was perfect for our dinner selections. Our steaks were done to perfection, as ordered, and the lobster tail was very tender and flavorful. The lobster and corn chowder bisque was a winner. The crab cocktail was good, but I prefer it without a dressing to truly savor the flavor of the crab. Side dishes were OK and in massive portions so we were able to share. We were a little surprised the mushrooms and the brussel sprouts were not more flavorful, but, we were there for the steak and, it was phenomenal. We saved room for desert which was massive....the chocolate cake was a wall of chocolate and delicious although very rich. Even with two of us partaking, we took some home. It was a special occasion, so we did splurge, but the tariff added up quickly.
Took our daughter here for fine dining over parents weekend at PITT and Eddie Merlots did not disappoint. We ordered the Steak Diane for two and the Cedar Plank Salmon. Both were cooked as ordered and both were delicious. We'll be back for sure on another trip.
Service overall was exceptional. Though, courses came rather quickly, not a lot of time for each.
Bread showed up at the same time as our appetizer. We had the crab cake, which was delicious. I had the bone in filet and my wife had a bourbon T-bone steak. Tough to judge because we both felt our steaks were undercooked from what we had ordered (medium and medium-rare). My bone in filet was not particularly well seasoned, leaving the uncooked middle unpalatable to me. Overall, a little disappointed given that this is a steak restaurant and the worst part for us was the steak.
I was celebrating my birthday and it was my first time at this restaurant. The server Kate Hughes was amazing really took care of us and made us feel special. I found out a couple days later that there was trouble in the kitchen that night, I would have never known with the great service we got.
The food was delicious. Everything that we ordered was cooked to perfection. We were there for over 2 hours and never felt rushed. My only negative comment would be when the check was presented. Our main waiter (we had 2) did not speak a word to us after he presented us with the check. Did not thank us for patronizing the establishment nor did he bid us a good evening. I found that to be strange as he was quite pleasant for the entire time we were dining.
I've been to just about every restaurant in Pittsburgh and I got to tell you this is by far the best one. The food quality is ridiculous but, you will pay for that. I travel and eat at high end restaurants often and this is the closest thing our city of Pittsburgh has. Took my skeptical parents they're for this visit and they walked away and loving it.
We were extremely pleased with our dining experience at Eddie Merlot’s! From the hostess to the servers wishing us a happy anniversary, the two complimentary glasses of champagne and dessert, the happy anniversary card signed by staff members and a personal note from the waitress. The staff did an excellent job going over the top to make us feel welcome and special. We will absolutely be back. Great dining experience. Eddie Merlot’s knows class and customer service! Kudos and thank you! 👏🏽👏🏽
We had very bad service and I am very unhappy. Our waiter was very unaccomodating and rude. He was overheard several times making comments about patrons at other tables. I was baffled at how they allow this type of behavior in a restaurant that charges $75 for prime rib.
Great food and friendly staff. We enjoyed the flavors, from the fresh bread to the main course. Everything is pretty pricey because they give you big portions, which satisfies most people. But in my opinion, fine dining means rich, buttery food and there is no need for Cheesecake Factory portions. Also, if you are not a greedy eater, you feel wasteful. It would be nice if they offered smaller better priced items. I ate 1/4 of my $50 main course and the three of us ate 1/2 of the huge dessert dish.
