Eddie Merlot's - Louisville Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time. We thought it was a beautiful. Our waiter Michael was very attentive and knowledgeable and was great!!The manager Jeff is very welcoming and always treats us like family. You can tell he loves his job and cares about each customer. The food was outstanding! The filet mignon was the best along with the mac and cheese and chocolate cake you have to get. My hubby said his burger was great also. We are followers of Jeff from a previous restaurant. There is no one as great as him!! This is a must to try, You will not be sorry.
Service was outstanding!
The food however wasn't worth the price in my opinion. I visited the restaurant in hopes of getting a higher end steak than your traditional chain restaurants. I simply had a glass of wine, a 10oz filet and a bowl of King Crab and corn chowder. My bill was over $70. With a tip it was over $90. That was for one person. Now saying that, I expected my bill to be that much, but I also expected a very flavorful filet mignon. My filet was cooked corrct (Medium Rare) but tasted very bland. I'm sure with some add ons it would have helped but when you pay $50 for a steak you expect a $50 steak. I have had better at the likes of Outback and or a Texas Roadhouse. While the atmosphere was great and the server was awesome, the steak department needs some help.
We really enjoy coming here to eat we eat here 3 to 4 times a year... We see a drop in the service over the last few years and this is not helping with making a decision to come to Eddie Merlot’s to eat.... We loved the service in the past and hope that it picks up soon....

We went for New Years Eve and were very unhappy with really, the entire experience. It was like we were in a void, where service and food was poor, and no one cared or noticed. Our reservations were at 6:30 so they were not slammed. We started with drinks and ordered apps. We had the Crab Martini and the Tartare. The Tartare was good the crab just tasted like sesame oil. After finishing our a apps and drinks, we sat and waited for some to come over and notice we had no drinks. We had yet been offered bread, and had not had a chance to ordered the rest of our meal. We watched the manger come and check on surrounding tables but passed us by. We sat for almost 10 minutes just waiting. Finally our waiter came over and we ordered more drinks and our meal. That was when we were served bread. I had the bisque and Seabass and my wife got the iceberg salad and the seared tuna. The bisque was good but her salad was covered in soggy pieces of bacon and egg. She took about two bites and ate no more. When they cleared our table no one asked why she hardly touched her salad, guess they didn't care. Last got our entrees. Mine was a small and under seasoned price of Seabass sitting on a pile of over cooked and not seasoned veg. My wife's tuna was ice cold and not even slightly seasoned. We eat out a lot, and I cook so, I know what seared is but this must had been sitting before served. Not even a touch bit warm. I told the waiter, and to my surprise she brought a plate for my wife to scrape the tuna from her plate to take back to the kitchen. When she returned with the tuna I just asked for the check and we left. Our bill was $166 before tip which is a lot to pay for a bad experience all the way around. Not a good way to end our 2017. The next night we went to Le Moo and enjoyed the entire experience, service and food was amazing. Our bill there was $220 before tip and well worth it.
Food was outstanding! Restaurant decor and ambiance were great and a step above other places in the City. For some reason, it felt like a high end restaurant I might visit in Chicago or even Vegas. Our waitress was spot on, educating us on the menu as it was our first visit, making suggestions, and preparing both the sauce for our steak and our dessert (to die for Bananas Foster) right at our table side. It was a busy New Year’s Eve, but our server and the rest of the staff made us feel as if we were the only patrons that evening. Our steaks were delicious, the shrimp ordered to accompany them were huge, and each side, while sold separate from the steak, proved to be more than enough for two people. It was not an economical meal, but the food quality, service, and overall experience warranted the cost in my opinion.
The crab cake appetizer was the best we've ever had. Loved the salmon and the portions were very generous. Root vegetable side was light and delectable. We had the creme brulee was not great. The top was a little over torched so it tasted like burnt marshmallows, and the inside lacked flavor. Overall it was an amazing dining experience, the atmosphere is very quiet and laid back, I enjoy the layout of the dinning room (which allows you to feel like you're in a private space even though you're in a room full of people), the staff was all professional and nice and the food was delicious and didn't take too long. We will definitely be back.
I cannot say enough to reflect how terrific an experience this was.
The server explained the menu and offered suggestions on our order. The atmosphere is great and food was some of the best we have every expected.
Truly one of the best options when in Louisville.
Was going to order steak for 4 but waiter informed us it was “not worth it because it always comes out cold”. Then reccomended the most expensive thing on menu. Our steaks were dry and salmon over cooked. Our table was by front door and every time people exitted we got a full blast of the outside 25degree temperature breeze. Then wine cellar was next to us and got cool breeze from that. The placement of that large table should be removed from the restaurant. A shame to have spend our Christmas Eve at a table with such a bad placement and after complaining still no success in improving the situation.
We always have a good experience at Eddie Merlots. The steaks are top notch, side fresh and great variety. Service was outstanding. It was very busy but we never felt unattended. A minor seating mix-up but was quickly corrected with an apology.
I like Jeff Ruby’s and Ruth’s Chris but Eddie Merlot feels more comfortable with the low noise level and the fine dining but relaxed atmosphere.
Left a lot to be desired. Bread never came, wedge salad was not a wedge salad at all, jumbo shrimp was dry, and it took almost an hour to get raw oysters and two sides. Cancelled the sides because we had to make a play. Server "forgot" to take the sides off the final bill. Finally, server forget to include a pin with the cc receipt, so I had to track down another server to get a pen. Not at all like it use to be!
It was my 3rd visit ,, the hostess acted as if she had a hard time finding a table ,,( we had reservations ), our table was in a terrible spot .. no table should be put almost in the doorway of the kitchen ,traffic was awful and a view of the kitchen not favorable ,, what was worse is that there were other tables available that were never used during our entire visit ... I was horribly disappointed in our experience ... in a place i use to hold in high regards ......
The atmosphere was nice, servers were nice, the French onion soup was wonderful, but believe it or not the filet Mignon steak was dry with not much flavor. I know it is the holidays so a lot is going on, but on our way out we got to see a little more of another guest than I would have liked! She intentionally flashed us. I was shocked, but that was not the restaurants fault; she had obviously reached an obnoxious point. I would try again, but would get a different meat selection next time.
We were in town for a concert on 12/1/17 and made dinner reservations through Open Table. It was quick, easy and very accommodating. We arrived a bit early, so decided to have a cocktail at the bar. Quickly found a seat and bartender was very nice and accommodating, as well as knowledgeable, easily answering our questions. Drinks were fantastic. At the time of our reservation, hostess promptly showed us to our table--a quiet corner booth. Our server promptly arrived and was very accommodating and knowledgeable about all aspects of menu and made appropriate suggestions and reccomendations. From appetizers to check, it was an amazing experience. We had the wagyu ribeye and cedar planked salmon and both were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Never felt rushed, but he kept things moving, knowing we were headed to a concert, so we were out the door in plenty of time to arrive at the venue without rushing. Experience couldn't have been more perfect!
Food was good, but steak came out under cooked and had to be returned. Service was VERY slow. They tried to make it up by offering free desert. Overpriced for what you receive. Everything individually priced. They over recommended sides, so there was quite a bit left on the table because we ordered at least one more than we needed.
This was our first time at this restaurant and we went to celebrate my birthday. The staff was friendly and sat us right down. The waiter was also friendly and he even gave us a creme brûlée to go. The food, oh my, I loved that steak! My husband and I ordered the Chateaubriand which was dinner for two with broccoli and sweet potato casserole and everything was delicious! Better than Ruth’s Chris for sure. We will be going back again!
