Eddie Merlot's - Lincolnshire Ratings and Reviews
Although our waitress was great, the filet for my wife (her birthday) came not cooked the way it was ordered. Sent back and came back overdone and burnt on the edges. Food of the same caliber can be obtained in the area for much less than what Eddie Merlot charges. Can't say I'd return. Ambiance excellent, food mediocre and overpriced.
Greeting upon entering the restaurant did not feel terribly welcoming, rather, very "down to business". No smile or anything from the woman who has assigning tables. Hostess who directed us to our table was nice. We were sat close to the door, and I was pretty chilly for most of the dinner, but it wasn't unbearable. Food was excellent. Very fresh and done well. Meat was just to our liking. Serving sizes were great. Sides were sharing size. Restaurant was relatively quiet, but not boring. You could hear the energetic atmosphere of the bar, which was nice, and the piano. Definitely seemed like a place people go to often. I do recommend this restaurant. I did see a couple of kids, but I wouldn't bring a toddler there.
We are regulars at this restaurant, and our New Years dinner was nothing like our usual experience here. I know it was a holiday but our service was terrible. It took 15 min for someone to take a drink order. We ordered an appetizer right away since drinks took so long. It was another 20 min to receive our shrimp cocktail that was supposed to be over dry ice, however it came out on a bed of water. It was another 20 min before they took our salad and entree order. We specifically asked for our salad to be split, it wasn’t. It took an additional 40 + minutes to get our entree (a rare tuna steak and med rare filet). The food tasted good, but the overall service really put a damper on the evening. We missed out on other plans since our dinner ended up taking over 2.5hrs... a real disappointment .
This was our first visit and it will most assuredly not be our last. The food and selection were awesome and I have absolutely no complaints and offer kudos to the chef for perfectly prepared very tasty dishes. and OMG, the Lobster Mashed Potatoes and the Crab and Corn Chowder -- WOW
We had a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE on New Years Eve. I I knew it would be crowded, but the restaurant over booked and over whelmed the staff. We got seated 20 minutes after our reservation only after my wife went up to hostess and politely asked when we might be seated.
After our salads and soup, we waited almost 1 hour for our entrée, which never came. We were offered a desert towards the end of our wait, (big deal) and the manager promised that our food would be out in less than 5 minutes and he would bring it to us. Another misrepresentation. After 10 minutes we left the restaurant without eating our entrée to find that the valet had lost my key. WE had to take Uber home to get my spare key and then Uber back to get my car. Awful experience.
Unfortunately we were very disappointed in our meal and the service. The steaks were room temperature at best and the crab legs were dry.
We had to ask for refills for water our server never offered another glass of wine. For an upscale restaurant with upscale pricing out service and food was a disappointment. We will not be returning.
New Year’s Eve Dinner: Lamb chops were ordered medium. Came raw. Had to send back 2 times to get it right. The waitress had bad b.o. The desert was old and dry.
Not good for a high end restaurant, where we spent $250 for 2. I have to think twice before we go back
Have eaten at ML’s multiple times....dined on Christmas Eve and was by far the worst service i’ve encountered in a restaurant of this calibre. Unresponsive staff, timing of appetizers, meals, dessert was awful and overall service was aggravating to say the least. Food was great as usual but the service overhang ruined the experience on such an important occasion. And staff was not apologetic in least despite obvious delays, lack of table service, etc.
We have dinned at Eddie Merlot's a few times in this past year and have had very nice dinners, so we decided to give it a try for our Christmas Eve dinner, and that was a mistake. We understood that is was a holiday and they were booked solid, and we expected things to be a little off due to all of those factors. But things were very off, slow service, uncleared table, raw food served for both entrees. Just very poor quality control for a busy night. Will not be going back on a holiday again.
Continued excellence in all categories. Elegant but comfortable surroundings, fine service and outstanding food and drinks. Two of our standouts (not to mention the meat entrees)... the spinach salad (enough to share) and the carrot cake (enough for four guests). Eddie's is one of our two favorite restaurants.
we were there with family for my birthday. we have been having a week of steak houses in the city and northern suburbs. the steaks here were better than any of the others.
the steak diane prepared table side for two is fabulous. cut it with a spoon. do not pass this up.
bread is wonderful also.
Your food is always exceptional! The only dish that could be tweaked slightly was the dessert but no complaints for the meal at large! That nights over the top experience was the young valet. I can't remember his name but he looked like he was still in school. Best experience ever with a valet! He asked if I needed my purse and gift bag from the back seat (!)
Completely overpriced and side dishes were over the top in size. Sometimes you just want a small salad or side dish of your own and not to share with entire table. Way too expensive for what you received. I also ordered 16oz ribeye and it was fatty - no bone and a horrible piece of meat. Never Never again and our whole entire table of guests felt it was overpriced and a ripoff.
The restaurant is located near my office, so I like to bring business associates there when I want to impress. The ambiance is very nice and the wait staff was very attentive. The food was presented at each person's desired temperature. Thanks for making my staff feel special. Will continue to frequent location.
My husband and I came to celebrate my birthday. We had a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. We started with a glass of wine (Kim Crawford Savignon Blanc and Cuttings Cabernet Sauvignon). I had had the Kim Crawford before, but my husband hadn't had the Cuttings before, and he REALLY enjoyed it. I ordered the Eddie Merlot salad, lobster tail, and roasted root vegetables and my husband enjoyed the barbecue shrimp, Wylarah MS9+ Filet Mignon, and humungous baked potato. For dessert we shared Bananas Foster. We had such an enjoyable evening, we are planning to return in the near future. Thanks for making my birthday memorable!
We are never disappointed here. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Pablo is one of the best waiters we have experienced there and we will request him in the future! This is truly a special occasion restaurant due to being on the pricey side. The menu items "for two" are a good value because they come with two sides for sharing. The main dining room and the bar area can be very noisy. The room in the back on the far side of the bar is the best choice for a quieter dining experience.
Another wonderful evening at Eddie Merlots in Lincolnshire.
Tonight we had the New Orleans Mixed Grill* |
4 oz. Filet Mignon, blackened grilled shrimp, andouille sausage, roasted garlic mashed potatoes
My wife just kept ooooing and ahhhing while she ate it.
I had a couple of appetizers, the chicken meatballs and the Steak Diane in lieu of a full dinner.
Both were very tasty and really nice with the Atlas peak 2009 cabernet that our very professional waiter Antonio helped us pick out. As always the perfect Sommelier Frost was on hand to make sure our dining experience was perfect.
Second time to Eddie Merlot's and did not disappoint. Celebrating our son receiving an internship. Food was absolutely wonderful. Appetizers, entrees and dessert fabulous. Hubby and son had steaks and I had the one veal dish on the menu. without question one of the best, if not best, veal dish I have had - pounded thin with very light crispy breading in a light butter sauce. I advised that our son does not like to draw attention to himself so the waiter did a very nice quiet "congratulations" after taking our order and at the end of the meal bought out a huge chunk of their carrot cake. Let me tell you I am EXTREMELY picky about carrot cake and I found it to be just delish. I usually don't like nuts in carrot cake but these were chopped so thin that it worked, and it was very moist and just right amount of spice and frosting.
