Eddie Merlot's - Columbus Ratings and Reviews
Ribeye was extremely fatty on 2 plates. Waiter did not even comment. Sprouts were under cooked and potatoes over cooked. Ran out of carrot cake. You didn't know the holidays are coming? We are usually happy, not this time.
I brought my girlfriend here for our 6th Anniversary. We asked for a warm spot in the restaurant as it was a cold night outside. They sat us right by the fireplace which was perfect. Everyone that waited on us in any means wished us a happy anniversary which made us feel special. We ordered the brusel sprouts, lobster mac n cheese, the sea bass and the New York Strip, oscar style. All of the food was amazing. My girlfriend said it was the best piece of fish she has ever had. They treated us to a free dessert for our anniversary to top off a great experience.
Our server (I believe his name was Jason) was fantastic. The atmosphere is nice, as well. I was disappointed in my food, though. I ordered steak medium rare, and it came out clearly rare. (My husband also ordered his med rare and his was done properly) I had it sent back to cook a bit longer, and it looked the exact same as before. Shrimp was a bit over cooked, and our side wasn't hot. For nearly $200, I was hoping for something a bit better, especially since it was our last date night before our twins arrive!
This was our first visit to Eddie Melot's. We met another couple for dinner to celebrate 30 years of friendship. The bar atmosphere was well above our expectations! Bartenders were very friendly and the cocktails were excellent (dirty vodka martini, just the way I like them, and Eddie's Manhattan up). Dinner was exceptional. We were a bit disappointed in the French Onion Soup. It just didn't have the 'umph' we were expecting. That's being VERY picky! The steaks were cooked to perfection. The wine was very reasonably priced for a high-end restaurant. We will definitely make a return visit!
The ambiance at Eddie's is warm and inviting; very hospitable. I found it very relaxing. Our server Chris was measured and did his best to keep a relaxing flow to our dinner. Everything was well timed. The food stands on its on merit. It was excellent. Everything was done well and surpassed expectations. If you're a foodie and enjoy properly executed food especially the classics, you'll be happy here with the chef here.
We have been to this Merlot’s many times and have always enjoyed good food, good service, and in this era of loud everything, a very pleasant atmosphere. This was however the first time that I was not really satisfied with my entire. I ordered the veal and it was not what I expected. Veal Feancaise is something that I have had elsewhere prepared well - very lightly floured pounded veal breast, sautéed and served in a light lemony sauce. This was heavily breaded, over salted, and with that I could hardly taste the sauce. My wife’s lobster was very well done, though advertised at 20 oz. seemed a little on the light side - certainly not 20 oz. of lobster, though possibly at the frozen state. Having said that, it was as always a very pleasant dining experience and everything else, both food and service was fine. Yes, we will return. No, I will not order the veal, but more likely a steak which the do an outstanding job with.
It was a business dinner with 4 of us. 3 of us ordered the same steak. I ordered mine medium. The other two were ordered medium rare. The waitress distributed the 2 sides we ordered evenly amongst us. When I cut into my steak I realized it was rare, maybe even less then rare. The waitress said it would only take a minute to make it medium. About 10 minutes later the steak came out but with no sides. I asked and the said that new sides would be brought to the table. They were but when everyone had already finished eating. So, I ate an OK steamed with no sides. The manger gave us free coffee and one desert to split. Never going back.
Just great for Dottie's birthday dinner. The double chocolate cake I put down as a special treat for desert was.... WOW!!!! She had the filet which was prepared to perfection along with the asparagus side... and then the desert... and, of course, the wine, Merlot Decoy, with the Duck on the bottle.... made the meal. Noise level is just a little too high, but as the evening aged, our reservation was at eight, the crowd dispersed and it was O.K. My meal with the double pork chops called for a box to carry home with a couple glasses of wine left in the bottle which we will enjoy some evening this week.
