Eddie Merlot's - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
This place never disappoints! Wonderful ambiance, impeccable service and the food is always top notch. We come here for get-togethers with friends, birthdays, anniversary's, you name it. The Easter Brunch and Mother's Day brunch are amongst the best in the city.
Seated next to two large tables which took all the wait staff time away from attention to us. Long 35-40 minute delay between salad and entree - had to flag down our waitress for drink orders. Just a bad experience for a restaurant we have always felt was our "go to" place for special occasions. Also, the dining room was not packed - probably 25% of the tables empty.
This is a great alternative to the many Cinti steakhouses! As the variety of their menu is extensive. While they have steak, there is a great variety of main courses as well as MANY side dishes for a group, children or a vegetarian like myself!
They have the unusual & decadent Wasabi green beans, coated & flash fried with a great dipping sauce. It's a generous portion, unusual and great appetizer to share!
Oh, and DO NOT FORGET dessert. The carrot cake portion is enough to share with 4-6 persons or take home for further decadence! While it doesn't have nuts or raisins, it still is very moist & tasty with several thin layers and lots of yummy cream cheese icing. There are other desserts as well, BUT you must try this one first!
Plus there's an extensive wine list with storage fee to stock your favorite bottles... And least but not forgotten, the staff is ALWAYS ATTENTIVE, PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY, NOT PRETENTIOUS!
MAKE YOUR RESERVATION, BUT HURRY FOR THE HOLIDAYS! PLUS THEY HAVE A LARGE ROOM THAT CAN BE PRIVATE FOR A BIG GROUP WITH GLASS SEPARATION DOORS! ALSO A VERY ACTIVE BAR, FIREPLACE & LIVE BAND ON FRIDAYS (BUT A LITTLE NOISY IN PARTS S OF THE DINING ROOM)!
We had been to this restaurant before and had always had very good experiences. On this evening we were placed in the room next to the bar (which the person seating us described as having large windows that can be opened in the summer.) We were near the end of the room next to a screen partition. We assumed the party on the other side was large because it was so noisy. We could barely carry on a conversation and when given the day's specials, we had to ask to have them repeated. Near the end of the meal the loud group left. When the partition was moved, we saw that it had only been 6 people. The next group seated was just as loud. There must be a problem with the room's acoustics.
The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere, due to the extremely noisy condition, was not. When we complained to the manager before leaving, she said she would make a note in Open Table not to seat us in that room again. I suggested that no one should be seated in that area when the other table is used for a group.
I am not saying we will never go to Eddie Merlot's again, but considering we spent over $200 for a dinner for two, this experience was disappointing and it will probably be a while before we return.
I like this restaurant and have dined there a number of time. This time the food was just not up to what it usually is. I like a medium rare steak and mine came out way over done. I was with a group so did not send back because I didn’t want to be the last one eating in our group. Be sure to stress how you want you steak when ordering. Also we had to ask about specials, this was not told to us before ordering. Be sure to ask!
A beautiful evening with my bride of 46 years once again at Eddies. Our third visit and it seems to get better each time we visit. The food is unbelievably good. I had the Prime Ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. All the sides were very tasty. Service was very good.
Jeff and the staff made our 30th anniversary special in every way they could. From having a great champagne on ice waiting for us at the bar to fresh flowers at the table which came home with us. The service and food was excellent, as it always is at this Eddie's.
Ordered one steak medium well. It came out charred and dry on the inside. We also ordered a 3 medallion plate, all medium. One rare, one properly done and one overdone. Disappointing to pay that kind of money for steak and not have it prepared as ordered. I shouldn't have to send it back at these prices and I expect better. The manager did come by about 70% of the way through our meal to ask how everything was cooked, but what's the point then, I've eaten most of it. Our server was good. But, now I remember why it had a been a few years since we had been last.
We frequent this restaurant and have never had a bad meal and service has always been spectacular. If you are a wine drinker, this is a must visit place. They know their wines and have almost anything you could ever want. For those who want a quality steak cooked the way you actually ordered it, this again is the right place. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to take in all the experience and enjoy yourself.
We dined for a business meal and it was awesome. The chairman of our company was in town and he loved it. Our servers were amazing. They were very well knowledgeable of the wine and food menu. They were helpful and treated us like we were guests in their own homes. The food was delicious AS ALWAYS. We will definitely be back soon.
