We attended the Sunday Brunch and found it very poor. Some of the hot food was cold or lukewarm, some food stale, the shrimp were soggy, much of the food was not fresh. It was the worse buffet either of us had ever experienced especially for the price.
We had decided that we were going for the Deerhurst Maple Tap - Table d'Hote - available during the month of April.
3-course meal was excellent from start to finish.
1st course - starting with a fabulous Maple infused Carrot & Ginger soup the tone was set for high expectations.
2nd course - we elected to try the Herb crusted Nagano Pork tenderloin that was cooked to perfection and accompanied by lentil stew, bacon ham, maple steeped figs and baby carrots.
3rd course - we capped the meal with the Maple crème brulée and maple shortbread cookie (small cookie).
Service was impeccable during all courses.
Lovely Easter Brunch. Food was delicious and lots of choice. Would have like our server to bring more coffee but it was hard to locate where she was.
Excellent Easter Brunch. Service as usual outstanding- friendly and attentive
Wide range of choices of salads breakfast items .
Brisket salmon ham chicken and seafood items delicious
Exceptional side dishes.
Waited almost 10 minutes at our table and did not see a server to take our drink order. This is after another server said they would fetch our server for us. Due to the poor service, we decided to leave and went to Compass Grill for dinner instead. Skeptically returned to Eclipse the next day for the Easter Brunch. The food was surpringly good for buffet food, but still very over priced for what you get. The view is nice by the windows.
Food selection was very disappointing - no burgers for the kids, no mussels, no mashed potatoes, pasta sauce ruined by goats cheese! And the adult price is very high. Server disappeared when I was ready to pay and had to wait quite a few minutes.
Supper Buffet was delicious!! so many options and everyghing I tried was wounderful!
Food was just ok. For the price of 40++, it was a bit too much for just ok food. Service was great though.
We enjoyed another great meal at Eclipse. The Pork Tenderloin was perfect as was Christine our server. She is a constant there and a gem.
Food is average at best but priced much higher. Almost no vegetarian options. Dining room looks tired, needs some updating as does resort.
Nice family day outing. Very busy, hard to keep food supplied. Staff certainly did their best. Dessert menu is not like it used to be . Lots of 1st course variety.
All over very nice!
We were there for Valentine’s Day. We thought our meal was going to cost $52.95 as per a set menu as the Eclispe isn’t generally open. There was a huge conference at the time and they wanted a buffet. So to our surprise the Eclispe had a buffet for $24.95 which was much more of our price range and the food was excellent: mussels, ribs, chicken, fish, potatoes, veggies, shrimp cocktail, soup, salad bar, dessert bar. Waiter was kind and explained our options even though we weren’t part of the conference. Now on a regular bases, breakfast was $21 for a buffet so too much money for us so we didn’t eat there. It was a lovely Valentine’s Day supper.
Many of the negative comments were related to the service at the buffet. Overall the service was great
Unfortunately the food was not very good and the selection was very disappointing. The buffet is severely over priced and would highly recommend going to the pub or leaving the resort
I have not been to Eclipse for roughly 9 years or so but did return to a great meal and a fun night of dining..
I had the buffet and was so pleasantly surprised at the quality and tast..
Everything was amazing from starters to mains and desserts.. service was great too.
I most certainly will return!!!
Honestly I was told by staff that this was the best restaurant at Deerhurst when I booked but Compass was so much better. I was not told it was a buffet. The server assumed we were having the buffet. I was confused and asked for a menu but decided to go for the buffet after all. It was tired and it was obvious that the buffet was nearing the end of the night. I wouldn’t have booked an 8:15 reservation if I knew the buffet was at the end of its life at 8:30. It was certainly not worth the price. There was no way I would go back.
The food was good but some desserts seem to be store bought which we were not expecting for the price. This is the only reason we felt we couldn’t recommend the restaurant, we didn’t get the value for the price.
For the amount of food offered, and the quality of it, I would not say that it is worth the price you are paying. Not to mention half the stations were nearly empty when I went up to fill my plate. I imagine the price is marked up being within Deerhurst Resort, but at least make it worth it then.
This meal was for a Boxing Day breakfast with friends. We had a preferred membership which gave us a 50% discount on food. The problem was that even though our friends were also members, they have a rule that you cannot have more than two people at the table to get the 50%discount, so even though there were many empty tables, we had to sit back to back at two tables. The food was okay, our eggs benedict was very vinegary and the English muffin was so tough that it was difficult to cut. The rest of the breakfast was okay, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Too expensive for such a limited selection. Restaurant was not full, yet we were seated within a foot of a couple obviously on a date, with no other tables occupied within 20 feet. Food was underwhelming. Wait staff was plentiful but unavailable except for the young water girl who did a fantastic job. I doubt we’ll eat there again. Time to overhaul - the Deerhurst should offer much better for money spent.
Very accommodating and very tasty food for the value.
My friends and I have been to Eclipse several times. We have always enjoyed it but this year the service and food was exceptional!
Buffet Service, was Ok but nothing magnificent and not worth the money
The breakfast buffet was very disappointing - the hot food was cold very quickly; soggy waffles, egg substitute tasting scrambled eggs, etc.
I was sadly disappointed with this restaurant. The food was not even close to being acceptable especially for the price. The service when ok when the server actually came to the table. The food was cold and had no flavor (namely the pasta and roast beef). The roasted carrots tasted like strange and the desserts with visually unappealing so we passed so could not comment on the taste.
We were in shock when we received the bill which made it even more disappointing because we did not even consider looking at pricing assuming that the restaurant being located in what we had been told was a high end resort.
Extremely disappointed and all that 1 have shared this with upon my return from my 3 days stay were equally disappointed because this had always been seem as a beautiful place to stay.
Sunday brunch very poor quality food and limited selection. Staff were attentive. Decor tired. Omelettes were fresh and ok but a very slow process. Fresh ham well prepared. Foods in warming dishes were not fresh and unimaginative.
The Sunday brunch was wonderful. Amazing selection of both hot and cold foods. Something for everyone.
Not enough variety and way too expensive. Will not be returning
We did the thanksgiving buffet. Amazing selection, EXCELLENT prime rib, serious value. It was very busy for the holiday so a little more crowded and noisy than I like, but overall very good!
Incredible thanksgiving dinner. Fantastic food and service. We can’t wait for next year!
Sadly the service was terrible which ended up reflecting on the rest of the meal. The person that filled our water bottles didn't know if we could order from a menu or not and said we'd have to ask our waitress. (strange to me that she didn't know this info.) So....we waited.........and waited...........decided to forgo the menu and ate at the buffet........and waited.....never ONCE did our waitress come by to get a drink order (and we would have happily ordered several drinks).....when we were done.....we waited......as did most of the other people around us - - could hear their conversations as well about where the mystery waitress was. I finally asked the water lady to locate our waitress.....and....you guessed it.....waited.....finally after being seated 1 1/2 hours earlier our waitress showed up with the bill. And NO I did NOT leave a tip - - - as soon as she saw this she immediately began to apologize on how bad her service was and asked us, finally but too late, if we'd "like a drink, tea, anything?" We were so fed up we said "no" - - she did offer to spot us each for a drink at another place but seriously??? This is supposed to be an upstanding, well-known for service resort. This service sucked big time!! It was almost pathetic that she even KNEW how bad she was but didn't want to correct it ahead of time. We will NOT be coming back for a very long time which is sad because this could be a place of greatness but it's quickly becoming a place of "MEH". When I checked the comments before we booked I saw the negative reviews and thought hopefully the managers have read this and taken care of the problem.....clearly this has not happened.
I was quite disappointed in the buffet. Price point was good for the meal that was set-up. I wish that I had of had the choice to order from the menu.
My wife and I went as a date. This restaurant seemed to be the one most of the hotel occupants ise so it was very busy. Our waitress brought us our drinks and told us we could head to the buffet when we were ready. We were not offered to order from the menu. After that we never saw her again until she brought us the bill. In her defense I think they were short staffed. Food was good but was not as good as antler.
Great value and service by Leslie; interesting Fri eve Buffet-great selection and numerous alternatives.
Well done !!
Our waitress was great, we did the Sunday brunch and it had a bit of everything. It may have been a bit smaller than I expected but I wasn't disappointed at all since it had a good variety and quality.
Buffet style, quick and good choices. Hot and cold dishes so something for everyone. Service was also fast and attentive, always coming to the table to see if we needed anything. Good choice of wines a price for every taste. The setting was also enjoyable, would have preferred closer to the water.
We're locals and enjoy bringing our extended family here for dinner. Being a long weekend it was busy, we anticipated this though. Our waitress was disappointing, which is too bad as we have had some exceptional service in the past. Not this time.
Quality of the food was very good. Great selection for adults and kids
Too expensive for the food option ... to be honest my family enjoyed the food truck more they have great burgers and Poutine ...
We enjoyed both the quality and the variety of food.
Enjoyed dining at the Eclipse. Booked for 2, but at the last minute was able to change it to 4 as friends unexpectedly joined us. Excellent service, delicious food. Great experience.
