Eclipse Kitchen and Bar
Food and service were good and were very fast.
Servers were very rude and inconsiderate. They charged us for a drink they told us was out of stock (and also for the replacement drink). Overall, not impressed with the service at all plus the food/drinks are overpriced.
We had a large group of 12 but otherwise the restaurant was nearly empty. The service was terrible...extremely slow and unorganized. For the prices they charge I was shocked they had one server on staff but other busser, however those extra hands couldn’t help take orders or with food (union mess I assume)
.The buffet was the only breakfast option and I didn’t have time to go elsewhere. Well I’m glad because I really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and there were so many options. Everything you could think of! It turned out to be my breakfast and my “lunch” so I was able to justify the price to myself :) Great attentive and friendly service. I would do it again.
This buffet used to be the best around and could also order from the menu if you didn't want to do the buffet but its all changed now. They have 2 different buffet prices (one includes all tables and the other is the outside tables which are only continental type breakfast) and when they began running out of something they wouldn't replace it with more, the cook simply said no, he wasn't going to cook more with only an hour left to the buffet, ridiculous! Terrible service and they now removed the option to order from a menu so you don't even have a choice of doing the buffet or not. Don't waste your time!
We went here for an office lunch with about 13 people. The food and atmosphere were great. Our servers were very attentive. We will include this restaurant into our rotation of places to go.
This is a lovely restaurant with a good menu and great service. However, avoid this if you are disabled. First, the valet parking is $18 per hour, with NO restaurant validation or discounts for handicapped parking. Second, the signage for getting to the restaurant level is dismal - I went up and down the elevator twice and had to flag down an employee to find out you had to push "A" for "Atrium" level - that button only indicated "registration". Finally, I was told three times to "take the escalator" to the restaurant level, a feat which anyone with two eyes can see that I cannot accomplish without severe injury. So, it took me 1/2 hour (or$9 in valet time) to get to the restaurant. Once there, the atmosphere was good and our server was outstanding. But I would probably not go again.
We've eaten here before and enjoy it very much. The "booths" are cozy and comfortable and the noise level is quite low, hard to find in a restaurant these days. The food is excellent. My one complaint is that some of the dishes were too salty. I remembered liking the fried brussels sprouts but this time they were too salty. It's also fun to order several of their small dishes and share. I'd go again.
Usually this is a quiet place to meet if you need to have a serious discussion, the food is always good, but service can be slow and unfortunately the last time I went, there was construction going on in the Hotel and it was noisy!!
prior positive experiences; best location close to work; nearest to vista views from port, embarcadero, fisherman's wharf, etc.
Restaurant is part of the beautiful lobby at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This evening, the lobby was almost empty which made the restaurant area pretty quiet and pleasant. I would give the food 5 stars if it weren't so salty. The flavors were excellent. There were 4 of us and we shared the dishes. Especially good were the brussel sprouts crisps, the individual leaves of the brussel sprouts flash fried. I'm not a fan of the antipasti plate but the others thought it was delicious. Also excellent were the shrimp which were large and fresh tasting, but again, the sauce was too salty. We'd go again.
Made reservations about a month in advance. When arrived dining didn't seem it needed to be reserved.
There was no hostess to greet or seat us to a table . Staff just stated "sit anywhere, since we aren't that busy and we'll get to you in a moment." Ok so reservations weren't necessary on Memorial weekend. We sat down and weren't given menus so we just shared one. They didn't have many options so we ended up with burgers. My partner got a regular well done grass fed beef burger. I tried their version of the "beyond burger." And since we were on date night I ordered one of their specialty cocktails(forgot which one). Food arrived very quickly which was surprising. We all know what fast food entails. But nonetheless we ate. The burgers were nothing more than mediocre and not even at room temperature. Even the fries were cold. My drink ended up at another table so I was a bit parched when the server realized where the mix up was. Our food was served on wooded planks which is fine but dress code is business casual so this was messy to be in evening dress attire. I wouldn't dine here again because $61.78 is a little much for two cold burgers and a watered down beverage.
Our Mother's Day dining experience was a let down, nothing "special" for a Mother's Day brunch as promoted. Food was just ok, no special efforts. As avid restaurant diners, the price was not worth it. The Eclipse structure with the nice lobby area were the only notable features. We won't be dining here again.
Went for Mother’s Day bunch. I hadn’t been here for years and was very pleasantly surprised by the complete renovation. It’s beautiful and modern, with private “pod” tables. I like the huge open atrium. The food was fairly basic for a buffet brunch, but good comfort food, especially with a picky teenage son. The coffee was good. Service was excellent. We all agreed we would come back. I highly recommend it.
This venue is more suitable for a casual bite with a drink than a sit down meal. Most of the seating is lounge or bar seating with low chairs and coffee tables. We did manage to get a dining table but it was pushed round the back by the kitchen door. Service was slow and hard to get but friendly when it was there. Menu was very limited. Food and drinks were good, though. The Eclipse is set in the Hyatt’s lobby which is quite spectacular, and the seating would be fun for a drink, but for a dining experience, especially stuck round the back by the kitchen door, it was unimpressive. I will not return for a meal.
My mother & I came here because she was staying here for a Writer's Conference. The restaurant is super cute, open & comfortable. The look is very modern, reminded us of a futuristic movie. Our waitress Lila was AMAZING! Wonderful service, definitely in the best we've ever had. They had a Beyond Burger, which is vegan, (as am I), I was very happy about that. It was deliciously cooked. There was no wait & we had a wonderful time. I will definitely go back.
Excellent atmosphere, food was great.
This is located inside the Hotel Lobby next to the registration desk, that would be my only complaint.
Portions were large, well worth the cost. Like I said, Food was great.
My latte was lukewarm. I requested that it be heated and it came back even colder. I would not recommend getting coffee drinks here.
Service was great, super fast. I'm a San Francisco native and had always wanted to try this restaurant. We finally went for a breakfast before a long walk on the Embacardero. Companion got a Belgian waffle, loved it. I got the French toast. I wasn't paying careful attention to the menu and missed that it was sourdough French toast. It was edible but not my fave.
Coffee is decent but way overpriced. If you can hold off, there is a Peet's at the nearby Ferry Building, and also a Philz Coffee steps away from here.
I do plan to come back. I'd like to try different breakfast options like the buffet, omlettes, etc. This restaurant is set in the biggest hotel lobby in the world apparently, so surroundings are nice.
I love their fish tacos. Among the best I've had and the portion size is huge.
We had breakfast with Santa. We thought everything was wonderful, except for the price. I don’t mind paying for really awesome experiences, but overall we do think it is overpriced. We’ve been going to this for almost 9 years now. A few times, my sister’s and their family also came to this event. Eventually they too thought that the whole experience itself, the food, Santa, and ambiance, although great, were too rich for their taste. The staff is fantastic. The ambiance is great, but could be more Christmasy. It is missing all the other Holiday decorations that first brought us in the first place. Lastly, the only thing I would change is the cost. But we’ll be there again next year! Santa was awesome as usual. He makes sure that your kid has a memorable experience.
Separate note: The ice skating rink wasn’t playing Holiday music this year we noticed.
We came every Christmas time for about ten years and loved it. We stopped coming when the Christmas village scene was no longer in the lobby and the restaurant “lost” our reservation two years in a row. This year we had out of town guests and decided to give it another try...was very disappointed. The remodel is fine for a bar but not for a family of eight breakfast. The food and service was adequate. I doubt we will ever return.
It's very pretty and open space. Not too much traffic and pretty quite. However their lunch menu is nothing outstanding. I order steak asking for medium and it was over cooked and no so great. The hamburger according to my friend who order it was blah, not much tase.
Breakfast w Santa. Yearly trip!!
The setting was nice and relatively quiet, but the food and service was average at best.
Breakfast with Santa was really well done - my 5 year old and 3 year old absolutely loved it! Will be returning next year, likely with friends I've told about it that want to join us :-)
The person portraying Santa Clause was OUTSTANDING! He was extremely friendly and attentive to our four grand children. Was the best part of the visit, without question. Food was good, but needed to be warmer. Many of the items that should have been warm but were cold i.e. quiche, eggs, etc.
The food was very nicely prepared and tasty. The menu had an interesting selection. The wine we chose was reasonably priced and quite good. The location, within the hotel, was very convenient. We had a reservation, but don't think it was really necessary. We ate two dinners, and enjoyed them both very much.
Menu option was limited.
Made reservations however there was no hostess to seat us. After waiting for almost 10 minutes, we walked around and found out from a server that we could seat anywhere.
Food- waited for almost 45 minutes to arrive.
Not coming back.
Dropped in for a light dinner, the atmosphere is up to date and welcoming. My server was great, very friendly and attentive. Started with potstickers, very good and well prepared, but not remarkable. Asian salad as an entree, very good! A creamy Asian dressing which is unusual, and the ingredients were very fresh. Best part was dessert...bread pudding, it was great. Made me feel at home. Altogether a pleasant and comfortable experience.
A very open floor plan in the big lobby area of the Hyatt Regency. Good staff. Limited menu but convenient if you are staying in the hotel.
Breakfast room service was great!
Was a wonderful experience at eclipse. A different vibe and lots of open space.
The place was great! I love the whole restaurant vibe and design. Unfortunately most of our food was spicy even thought it doesn't say it on menu. I was meeting with my friend who i didn't see in over 5 years, so i didn't pay much attention to the food. For such a nice place food could be better.
This was our second time at the restaurant. The first time we tried the Crab Eggs Benedict. It was full of shells! And when we mentioned it to the waitress, there was no apologies, she only stated that that is difficult to prevent. Well if a person chokes on the shell, is it still difficult to prevent? This time we went for breakfast and at 8:10am, the staff had a meeting. Which lasted quite some time! I would think they would have better planning and have meetings on off times such as the middle of the day, not at breakfast when people have to get going to work and appointments. I could not recommend this restaurant due to the issues and slow service we received, unfortunately.
Nice change of pace from my usual lunch spots. Our server was attentive and the food was good. What I wasn’t crazy about is the tile/cement lobby is cavernous and as a result it’s really loud. Fine for a work lunch and drinks after work; I wouldn’t go out iof my way to come here.
Not bad, but expensive for what we ordered.
When we arrived, the waiters were unsure of the OpenTable reservation at first, but there were plenty of open spaces to sit. They later came back to verify with us. I think my note was left unnoticed, but it was okay; we knew what we wanted to order before we got there. And it was delicious! Everyone loved their food, and the noise was between quiet and moderate for a Thursday night. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, thanks!
Loud environment as the Warriors game was on. Food was fine, about what you would expect. Worth eating at if you are staying at hotel and want convenient and easy.
The place wasn't very busy, so quiet, which we liked. Fabulous (altho pricey) breakfast buffet and nice choice of entrees. Food came pretty quickly and coffee was hot and delicious. Not that many places in FIDI for a sit down biz breakfast so nice to add this to the list. Folks had various egg and breakfast sandwich choices, which everyone liked.
1) Extremely Poor Service
2) Very Low Quality of Food
