ECHO St.Simons Island
Initially a great venue and view but a large business group came in that were very loud. Their leader was one of those who wanted everyone to know he was there. Quite annoying. ECHO can’t really control that bit it dampen our experience.
Boy that waited on us was wonderful but it took 20 minutes of us sitting at table. I got up and had to ask someone to come over to take our drink order. You need to hire more people or people that know what they are doing. It’s happened before with us.
Casual atmosphere, good food. Service only average. Very plain as far as decor.
Great location and view of the ocean. We really liked the photo idea that was sent by text to our phone. Food was good but not quite worthy of the buffet cost. All n all, it was a great Mother’s Day.
If you can sit outside next to the ocean there is nothing better.
The food wasn’t that great for what you pay. Ambiance is beautiful
Was our first time at Echo, we drove up from Neptune Beach Florida
for lunch, it was a wonderful experience ! A beautiful location right on
the Atlantic Ocean! Wonderful service and had a Delicious lunch.
Had great food and a great time listening to Robby and Felix!
Had a lovely dinner with a great view of the ocean. The waiter was fine, but couldn’t really hear us and had some trouble with the timing of the courses. It didn’t ruin the experience, but when I spend that much in dinner I have high expectations for the servers.
The breeze on the patio made for a pleasant evening. The food was hit or miss, some dishes particularly good but some disappointing. Presentation was lacking on some dishes (random fry admid non-fry containing meal) while others were lovely. Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. For the price, I'd go somewhere else.
We had an amazing time at Echo. The service was absolutely stellar. The manager came to check on us multiple times and the waitress was responsive and attentive. The food was also amazing. The cheese board is a must along with the creme brûlée. We shared the scallop entree and I regretted not getting it all for myself, it was delicious. Highly recommend.
We were looking for a place on the beach for a nice lunch and found ECHO through Open Table. The restaurant is in the lobby of the King and Prince hotel. After arriving early, we were first told that we could not reserve outdoor tables which was disappointing. However, before we'd had time to pay for our drink at the bar, the host came over and told us he'd found a table for us. Then, after being seated, he came back to tell us a better table had come available and moved us there. What great service! Food was great, but nothing could compare to the view and weather that afternoon. I had the shrimp salad wrap and my wife had the fish tacos. We enjoyed them along with good, friendly service. I'd recommend ECHO if you want to enjoy a special lunch, or dinner.
Mediocre. That’s the best I can come up with for Echo. Unfortunately our first and only experience of Echo was less than par. The service was spotty as our server checked on us right as our food came out, but then never again. We waited too long for our food order, which would be understandable if the restaurant were busy, but it was not the case. We sat and waited for a minimum of 20 minutes after finishing our meal for our server to come back over to us. I think she was told by another server that we were done. The food, let’s just say, you can probably make multiple meals for a family of 4 with the cost of one meal, and the home cooked meal would be better. The seared scallops were undercooked; a rookie chef mistake, and although there were 3 scallops, there was no substance to the meal, therefore leaving us hungry for more, just not from there. Unfortunately my two daughters were asking if we could leave to find somewhere else to find “better” food. Overall, Echo did not “WOW” us; well the Oceanside dining was the best part.
Reserved outside table it was Anniversary but outside tables were all full
Service and food was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and had a wonderful attitude. Will return again next time we are on the Island
Scallops were extraordinary. Great wine list. Not too noisy. The service was impeccable.
I thought that for the quality of the food and atmosphere the servers should have been dressed more formally than they were for Easter Sunday. Instead they looked like they were dressed for a BBQ restaurant.
It was a wonderful surrounding and great food and service!
Drove an hour to have dinner with my wife overlooking the ocean for our 28th Anniversary since this is one of the few restaurants on the island that has ocean views. Made the reservation via Open Table with the request for a table with views in advance and noted it was also our anniversary. Wife and I were dressed very nicely for our special night and got put on the back wall with a chair to high for the table while others in jeans and shorts and walk ins were seated by the windows latter. Told hostest who also failed to acknowledge my wife and I for several minutes before asking if we had a reservation when we initially arrived. I guess it doesn't matter to make such requests as that pretty much ruined the night at the start despite the food being pretty good but somewhat overpriced. Also if paying for high end resturant food the wait staff need to be dressed better than blue jeans and checked shirts. They all looked better suited for a barbeque restaurant. Its easy to tell that this restaurant has an identity crisis in its look and feel. Better wait staff and hostess training is also needed (no discussion of specials) which is too bad as the food and menu options were pretty good.
Beautiful night for an outdoor dinner and dessert afterwards.
Love sitting on the Deck, enjoying the sound of the Ocean with nice breeze and people watch. I had an amazing experience that afternoon. There was low fog and low tide, people were far out on the ocean, I could hear them but could not see them because of the fog. Never seen fog as thick and low as that on a relatively warm afternoon.
Not a bad place to eat with a nice view of the ocean. Service is hit and miss, last year above awesome, this year was not great.
We had a great experience at ECHO. We had wanted to sit outside but the weather was bad so the hostess sat us at a window so we could enjoy the view. Our waiter, Xavier, was attentive and helpful with menu suggestions. One of our party has a food allergy and Xavier and the kitchen went above and beyond to accommodate her. Our dinners were delicious!
Right on the beach. Lovely location. Good food.
We were visiting for Spring Break. We decided to do an adult only dinner at Echo. The dining room is beautiful with nice views of the ocean. Our server was very attentive initially. We thoroughly enjoyed the pimiento cheese hummus and Georgia shrimp. A large group was dining that night as well. Two large tables that seemed to be a rehearsal dinner. Our server was also in charge of this large group. We encountered long waits to order. We did not received our wine that we ordered to be delivered when our entree arrived. The server was very nice and seemed upset that things were getting lost in the shuffle.
We waited and waited for our food- seems the rest of the island is aware of Echo because they are known for incredibly long food times. We waited 30 minutes between apps and entrees. Lipstick on the glass. Drinks took a long time- got one after my meal was over. It is not a true beach front restaurant. Yes - it is looking over the beach but it is enclosed inside a hotel. It’s a typical hotel restaurant.
Staff was courteous and very attentive. Food was great.
this is one of many times we have dined at Echo in past 8years in Feb Mar April.....
First time ever...having the Grouper Tacos if there was 4 ozs of fish then I would wonder if they thought I was on a diet upon the order of 12.00 not the 6.oo
I ordered a Spring Lamb.
Manager came over and he took the 12 off bill.
All the staff members we encountered were very friendly.
Asked for empty table by the window, rather than back corner where we were banished. Told they (3 tables) were reserved, but no one ever showed up & eventually given to people who just walked in....
The food was really good, I wish that the swordfish was still on the menu.
Our server was wonderful! Everyone thought their food was delicious. And the view was great.
We've dined at Echo several times. The setting can't be beat, right on the beach at St. Simons. It is one of the few true oceanfront restaurants on SSI. Just remember, if you go at night there is no view! The wait staff seems eager to please, but they can be a little lacking. Water is often never refilled and you can go for long stretches without seeing your server. The food is good, but nearly every time we've gone the timing is inconsistent. This last time, the apps came out super fast but the entrees took a very long time. This was the case when we were there in December as well, the entrees took nearly an hour to arrive. Overall a nice place, but don't go if you are in a rush.
Our server was wonderful! Food was good... view was awesome!
The meal was a little disjointed the way it was served. The roast beef was fatty and overcooked. There were no baked potatoes. The fish, soup and bison were good.
The staff were friendly and the view was wonderful.
We had a great, ocean-side window. Spectacular view; wonderful, quick, attentive service. Food was excellent and good portions. We also were away from the live music which would have been a negative had we bernvtight by it. Recommend highly.
Great food. Always have a good meal here. Great view of the ocean. Service is usually good, but not always great.
Although we started with outside dinning ,it was a bit cold for some of my guests and we asked to move inside. The wait staff was very helpful and moved us to the main dinning room. Once inside it seemed to take a while for someone to take our order. It appeared that there were only two waiter persons for the whole dinning room. Once we placed our orders the food arrived very quickly and was delicious! Then the wait began again for our bill. Like so many restaurants today iy appeared they were short-handed. Nice surroundings make up for the delays.
