We love Ecco and look forward to the restaurant’s new venue wherever it may be!
Today is the last day Ecco will be open as its closing having lost its lease. This ends an era of dining with absolute consistency of great food, service and a neighborhood gem!
This is truly disappointing as I cannot think of a comparable restaurant in lower Manhattan!
Thank you to Ray and the staff for the many years of our dining in your restaurant.

Great place table next to kitchen diminished the experience
Lovely place with great food and service -- a shame that they must move location, but we look forward to their re-opening!
Fantastic meal and excellent service so sorry it’s closing on 12/31/19
The restaurant and staff will be missed after patronizing for over 20 years!
Great Christmas vibe, couples and families. Great way to bring in Christmas.
So sad this cherished institution is shuttering its doors
So sorry to see Ecco close. Have been a patron over the years almost since the beginning. Now that we actually live in the neighborhood it is especially sad to see the end of an era. Hopefully, there will be a rebirth in the neighborhood before too long.
Ecco Ecco don't go!!!!! Rumor is you will be soon replaced; we can't live without you. If your beautiful 19th c. space for calamari fra diavolo on Chambers Street turns into a serafina-style vacancy of the heart, we will be so disappointed. You shall be missed.
Fantastic food and service too bad it is being forced to close after lease termination!
Food and service was wonderful but it was particularly crowded and quite loud.
We come to New York every 3 years and always make time to eat here. It never disappoints. It has the feel of a neighborhood place with top notch service. The food is to die for. We’re always excited to get there and sad to leave. We look forward to our next visit.
I’ve been going here for years. Gonna miss this wonderfully perfect establishment!
I really hate to wrote this because this is a beloved neighborhood place, but I was very disappointed with my meal - rigatoni. I asked the very nice waiter to ask the chef that the macaroni be al dente but it arrived overcooked.
I am Italian, born and bred with real Italian food and this wasn't it. The sauce was watery and tasteless.
Like I said, I am sorry to write this. I hope it was an anomaly. I wish this restaurant well. I am happy to have it as my neighbor.
My daughter and I were in NY and needed a place close enough to walk to from the 911 Memorial. The restaurant was warm and inviting. The service was great and the food was amazing. Love it .
Incredible food and service! We go every time we are in NYC!
Ecco is fantastic and has been the reliable consistently best ITALIAN restaurant in lower Manhattan for years. We just learned that it will be closing at the end of the month, having lost its lease to Grey Dog to be opening early next year. This is a real disappointment , I hope they find another location close by. I will greatly miss the food, professional staff and management. I will definitely boycott Grey Dog ! Why don’t they seek an alternate location.
Food and service excellent. But the “Energetic” noise level was a deal breaker. We were with out of town friends we hadn’t seen in four years, we love them and had much catching up to do. It was impossible with the noise level, which was made worse by canned Christmas music. We gave up trying to talk and cut out before dessert, coffee and cognac, to go to a quieter place, where we all heaved a huge sigh of relief. Sorry Ecco, we won’t return unless we read that some acoustical improvements have been made.
Excellent food, service and ambiance.
Wonderful staff & food
Best veal Parm I have had in a long time. This place is very much “old nyc” which is great. It gets loud, but that’s part of the charm. Great service.
Every visit to Ecco is wonderful!!
Love it!!!
One of the best Italian restaurants in Manhattan. Best veal ever. Try the stew!
The best Italian restaurant in Manhattan-always a fabulous meal and service!
I take everyone to Ecco when they come in from out of town. I’ve never had a bad meal there and the service and staff are top shelf. I’d recommend it to anyone.
Would definitely return. Service was exemplary and food was outstanding.
The food, service and ambience are outstanding. Really excellent restaurant with a great New York history. A little pricey but worth the money.
Accidental find and boy, did we luck out. Food was awesome and we had just returned from Italy. Thought we were back. Service was incredible.
The food were good as always. The service was good. The waiter was funny and he gave us dessert due to we go there every time when we visit New York
Fantastic food. And service — especially by Louis — was amazing !!!
Family reunion. Great atmosphere and service. Food was very good. Huge portions!
Great food, outstanding service. Will be going back for sure!
Very nice. Old school, high end red sauce. Wonderful authentic interior.
A piece of history. Much of the restaurant and Bar are 19th Century. Some carefully preserved. White table cloth, waiters in uniforms with ties, bartender white shirt, tie, fills the part.
Specials each day, pre fixed mid week lunch 3 course $28 in Manhattan! We would go again.
Still the best, the fish and veal cannot be beat. Reasonable wine prices are just an added extra!
Food is excellent, attentive service and overalls pleasant dining experience.
Love this restaurant! Food is terrific. The best veal chop in the city! Had it prepared “Marsala” - even better!
Excellent food and service consistently
Ecco remains some of the best Italian fare in NYC. Ecco is the ideal combination of "red sauce joint" and a fine dining experience. 20 years ago, there were few places to eat this well in the Financial District. Now there are, and I still choose Ecco. Excellent wine selection, generously poured cocktails, and specials that are truly special (we just had the dover sole, which was excellent, but the lamb osso buco is surely the winner). Menu staples include an outstanding bone-in veal chop (cotoletta) alla parmigiana, pasta dishes, and steaks. Old world service and attention to detail make Ecco an authentic dining experience. Plus there's cannoli.
