My man and I wanted a cozy spot for our 1st Valentines together. This place was the perfect choice! The atmosphere is very comfortable, yes the noise level can be a tad loud but it didn't bother us at all. We started with the Calamari and oh my was it perfect! The breading was very light and the dipping sauce had a little kick to it, tossed in jalapeno peppers we were happy! A must try....Our Server Angel was on point! He was always prompt to make sure we were happy or if our drink needed refilling. Very kind and professional. Thank you Angel!!
The pizza was amazing. It is wood fired, with thin chewy crust and inventive toppings. Hubby and I split the Ecco, which has mortadella, mushrooms and artichoke hearts. Delicious. Our friends split the Gorgonzola and pear pie. It was very good but very rich. The table split and arugula salad which was plenty for four. It was very difficult to talk as the noise level was deafening. It was 6:30 on a Friday night, so it might be better at a less busy time. I wouldn't go back when it is busy because if the din. The waitress, Sidney, was very attentive and knowledgeable.
The facility is in an area reminiscent of the small business/food truck pods in Portland Oregon. Very laid back setting, some fantastic pizza ((go with the "Goomba Pizza") and really nice people working there. This place will give Mozza in Newport Beach a run for the money.
My girlfriend and I went here for a late night dinner. I heard good things about the place so we decided to go since we were nearby.
The atmosphere of the place was very lively and would be a great place for group dinners, but also would be great for dates because of its cozy atmosphere.
There is plenty of selection on the wine list. The beers on tap was limited, but they had other bottled and canned options. The good news is that the beers on tap are all top notch so you wont be disappointment.
The food was excellent. We started off with a prosciutto and cheese bruschetta. The prosciutto was perfect. It was thinly sliced and was had a very light salty taste which is hard to find in restaurants. For dinner, we both had pizzas and a side of sauteed mushrooms. The mushrooms were absolutely delicious. They were sauteed with a mix of truffle oil, wine, and herbs. They were done to perfection and highly recommended.
The lady ordered the guanciale pizza which she absolutely loved. The freshly made dough was fired to perfection. The pizza had a combination of great ingredients including bacon, pears, and mascarpone. I took a bite and it was great. I ended up getting the guido pizza and added prosciutto to it because I liked it that much. The fennel sauced, onions, and peppers were a perfect blend. Adding the prosciutto made it perfect.
My only complaint was the service. The host and hostess were extremely friendly and gave some great recommendations when I asked about the menu. It was considered light night from their experience, but our server was barely there. He was a nice gentleman, but it took over 15 minutes before we were able to place our order for drinks, another 10 to get the drinks (just one beer for myself), and to get the bill took another 10 minutes. I overheard two other groups make the complaints as well. Another larger group next to us received rather quick service from their waitress.
Overall, great food! Can't wait for Irvine to open up!
Food was very good as usual--our party ordered either pizza or manicotti.
Service was poor, with long waits to attract attention of our server. We've been here multiple times. We have had excellent service with the female servers. There is an older male waiter who has consistently offered poor service. This evening he got one of the drink orders (a glass of a red wine) wrong, bringing a white instead. It was over 10 minutes before he returned. In the meantime, he was not doing much of anything other than chatting occasionally with other customers. Ultimately, I had to ask the person who brought out our meal to inquire about the drink. He returned in about a minute with the proper drink. Later, our server came by, offering no apology but blaming the bartender for ignoring him.
I emailed the management after this experience but got no response.
Needless to say, I have been disappointed by both our dining experience and by the lack of response by the management.
A very quaint lunch spot. Looked like an amazing bar inside but I decided to eat outside in their patio. Food was excellent - enjoyed the pizza and side of veggies. My friend liked his salmon pasta dish. Parking is a challenge on Sunday but have patience and you will get lucky. It's worth it!
We enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. I had read a few unflattering comments about the service and noise level, but we had wonderful service and were able to have a conversation easily. Loved the food, both salad and pizza. Wine selection and prices were fair.We will definitely be going back.
Stopped for a quick bite...but it wasn't quick. Shared a Caprese salad and veggie pizza. Both were just ok. Service was slow even though the restaurant was half empty. Overall noisy because of the cement floors and noise from the bar. Slightly overpriced for what you get. Not impressed.
We were on our way to a play and wanted to enjoy a delicious meal without pay a big price. Ecco was perfect. Lovely ambiance and nice menu. Helpful staff that was quick and courteous. We ordered their woodfire pizza and shared a salad. I also had a glass of their Sangria. I would go their again if i'm in the area.
This place is very loud - very difficult to talk, food is - lets say - everything has cheese in it.
So if you do not like cheese - probably not a good place.
Other that that - very tasty food and good service. A little bit expensive on wine, but you are here to eat - right?
