Xmas din with daughter
Excellent dinner during one of the Christmas celebration weekends. Service was over the top friendly, offered great suggestions and feedback on menu. I had the BEST EVER Pork Chop - OMG delicious. All food and drinks were exceptional. Great place for quiet romantic dinner. You will not be disappointed. A must stop for dinner in Cape May.
Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Great holiday decorations added to the evening.
Good food and service but a little overpriced in comparison to other restaurants in Cape May. Not my first visit and not as busy so noise level made it more enjoyable than on a Saturday night during the summer
Amazing food and excellent wait staff. No wait with our reservation.
This is my second time to the Ebbitt Room and it does not disappoint. Extremely pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Great food and ambiance.
We've celebrated a few occasions here and have never been disappointed. Our waiter Vince provided excellent service and details about our selected choices. I love the atmosphere in this historic site.
The cheese platter was great. Would have it again. Main dishes where good. Needed to yell across table to talk to each other. Very noisy.
Fantastic food. Fantastic place. The cocktails hearken back to a bygone era. High quality ingredients in everything served. And the ambiance is unmatched--cozy yet elegant. Can't wait to go back!
Lively restaurant with great food, cocktails and service.
Server named Jeremy was terrific. Rib eye steak was cooked to perfection, scallops were squishy probably should have been cooked a tad longer. Tables are so close together, tight seating. With the noise level, could barely hear my wife speak. I have been here in summer before.
The food was outstanding, so many wonderful flavors. Our server was very good and the host was charming. We can't wait to go back.
I was a bit underwhelmed. And I wanted to love it and go back again. The bar IN the dining room is a deal breaker.
Scallops were good. Not outstanding.
Pork chop was good. Short pour on the glass of wine. Bread basket was yummy and toasty warm. Glad we tried it. Probably will go elsewhere next time. Sorry!
We dined at the EBBIT Room for our Anniversary. It was wonderful! The food, service and ambiance were all top notch!
Christmas Parade and then dinner. Very festive!
Fantastic night. Service, Food & Atmosphere came together for a fun evening, Seating is close and we struck up a nice conversation with the couple next to us.
Wonderful anniversary dinner. Excellent server April. Food delicious. Thank you!
The atmosphere, food, service, staff were all excellent. The only negative is the noise level. A little softening to the ceilings and walls would reduce the noise level significantly. If you like casual conversation this is not for you.
We did early bird and 3 course was delicious! Great value! Beautifully decorated for Christmas ! Gorgeous!
We dined there the other night. Is it very comfortable atmosphere. The service was good, the food was good but I did not feel that the prices matched the food served. I have no complaints about the quality of the food however, if you were going to charge $50 for a steak, There better be some wow factor involved. The steak was good but there was no wow factor. The wine list was OK. Not too many international wines mostly domestic. Prices were a bit pricey.
I would dine there again. But might be more observant on the prices.
We were in Cape May for the holiday festivities. We stayed at the Virginia Hotel and had dinner at the Ebbitt Room. Our dinner was excellent. Drinks were very good. The only negatives were that it was extremely noisy and I had trouble hearing my husband at times. This could be due to the fact that the bar is connected to the dining room. We were slightly disappointed that there weren't more options for dinner and dessert. Other than that, we would highly recommend the Ebbitt Room.
We found the portions to be extrordanarily small considering the price. We are used to paying for gormet food, however some corses were hardly gormet. The lobster salad appetizer ($16) was very small and could hardly find any lobster in it and they were tiny bits. My husbands truffle pasta appetizer was delicious but barely a forkfull. His sea bass was like soup. My tenderloin and crab cake were good gratefully. It was $48 and should be good. Pear cranberry crisp had no cranberries in it and was not crisp at all and the flourless cake tasted like a brownie. Very disappointing!
The food was perfect. I had steak and cake and the steak was tender and juicy. The crab cake was flavorful and almos all crab. My daughter had the duck and it was scrumptious.
Unfortunately we did have a few hiccups with dinner, but overall the experience was fine.
The salad I ordered ( a special) was way to sugary. It needed a counter balance such as a lemon vinaigrette. Both entrees were very good.... Scallop dish and the chicken dish... We received the wrong dessert or so they said. They wound up giving us coffee and dessert on the house.
We would however go back again.
We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the Ebbitt Room. The beautiful atmosphere and delicious food made the evening very pleasant. The waitress was fabulous -friendly and attentive bringing our food promptly and filling our glasses as needed. The menu, while not extensive, does have a nice variety of entrees (quality vs quantity). The salads, appetizers and entrees are freshly prepared with wonderful accompaniments. The wine list is quite nice, a wonderful feature at the Ebbitt Room. The location is close the Washington Street Pedestrian Mall so it's close enough to stroll either before or after dinner (check the hours during the winter months). The Ebbitt Room is located in The Virginia Hotel which is a wonderful place to spend the night - fluffy pillows and duvets make for a comfortable night. Highly recommend this restaurant for special occasion dinners as well as just a nice night out with your date.
Although we had to wait 30-45 minutes past our reservation time, it was well worth the wait. Had a pre-dinner cocktail, pear martini, that was very tasty. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. The wine selection was incredible. We had Zorzal, a complex Malbec with a nice finish. The service was excellent and we had live music throughout our meal.
Theresa is the jam !
They offered us a free drink for my birthday. The service and food and atmosphere made it especially special!!!! Will be going back! On my favorite list for restaurants
First time for Thanksgiving (early) dinner. Chose the turkey entree + wine tasting option. - Turkey was outstanding in flavor and preparation. Wines chosen were well suited for the 3 courses. Service was attentive, restaurant crowd not intrusive. Highly recommended.
My husband and I did the early dining option which included 3 courses for $35 a person. He did not like his calamari but didn't want to complain and the waiter noticed that he was not really eating it and insisted on bringing him a salad instead, which was excellent. All of our other courses were really great!
This is an upscale spot, which offers good food and drink. The service was what you would except from an upscale restaurant - attentive but not overly solicitous. The restaurant is part of the Virginia Hotel and the décor is a bit dated and stale. Perhaps it was the off season, but the atmosphere was very muted. I think that a Friday or Saturday night crowd would have been a little more lively.
We eat here every year and have always had a perfect experience. One of our favorite places to eat! You have to order the chef's special deviled eggs, just the best!
Excellent food, very well prepared, top notch service, knowledgeable servers, pricey but worth it. Great for special occasion
The food was very innovative and well prepared. The noise level was unbelievably loud which mad it impossible talk. The service was OK but for the prices charged should have been better, perhaps more of a team approach.
Best overall dining experience in Cape May.
Wonderful dining experience. My first time here and will definitely return.
Our food was excellent and fresh. The early dining menu was well worth it for that price.
Haven't been to the Ebbitt Room in a while since, with its prices,it really is a splurge. But,my friend and I took the opportunity to go for Restaurant Weekend and, even though,it was a hectic scene-especially being seated near the servers' entrance to the kitchen area-it was great. I appreciated the fact that they offered several offerings for each course, and did not skimp on the serving size. Even the wines by the glass were reasonably priced. The food was very good; the staff was efficient and pleasant; and the atmosphere was fine considering it was Restaurant Weekend...and Saturday night at that!
Food was just ok, Curtis is going to step it up a bit in the chef department if he hopes to keep up with the other great chefs in Cape May. Way way way to noisy
