The food was very innovative and well prepared. The noise level was unbelievably loud which mad it impossible talk. The service was OK but for the prices charged should have been better, perhaps more of a team approach.

Our food was excellent and fresh. The early dining menu was well worth it for that price.

Haven't been to the Ebbitt Room in a while since, with its prices,it really is a splurge. But,my friend and I took the opportunity to go for Restaurant Weekend and, even though,it was a hectic scene-especially being seated near the servers' entrance to the kitchen area-it was great. I appreciated the fact that they offered several offerings for each course, and did not skimp on the serving size. Even the wines by the glass were reasonably priced. The food was very good; the staff was efficient and pleasant; and the atmosphere was fine considering it was Restaurant Weekend...and Saturday night at that!

Food was just ok, Curtis is going to step it up a bit in the chef department if he hopes to keep up with the other great chefs in Cape May. Way way way to noisy

We thoroughly enjoyed the exquiste taste of our steaks and salads especially. Presentation was beautiful! The service was 5 star as was the hospitality of everyone. It was our third time visiting The Cape but first time in the Ebbitt Room. Would highly recommend!

Had a delicious meal with great service & atmosphere so much so we decided to cancel a reservation we had for the following evening at another restaurant and return to Ebbitt Room for a second visit. We were equally pleased on our second evening and have no hesitation in recommending Ebbitt Room!

The halibut was outstanding-an amazing plate. The "deviled egg" appetizers delicious. Rabbit toast very good.

Tightly situated seating resulted in a somewhat frenetic atmosphere as servers accommodated the guests seated behind either of us. Noise level did not allow for quiet conversation-i.e. one had to lean across the table to hear (there were two of us).

The quality of the food was outstanding. The overall atmosphere, however, was (as previously stated) best described as frenetic.

We have been to the Ebbitt room every year since it opened. This was the first disappointing visit. The crab cakes were awful. The crab cakes at the Blue Pig, the affiliated restaurant, were 10 times better. The plating was like something you would get at a cafeteria, not for $36 a plate. The carrots were mushy and the "potato" was a dry, cold, old quarter sized piped serving. The crab cakes ended up in the garbage where they belong to begin with. What the heck happened to this place? Not returning.

We dined with another couple on a Sunday night. The server was helpful and efficient. The food was mediocre. The much praised deviled eggs tasted as if they had been sitting all day. The halibut was uninspired -- a hunk of stark white fish sitting in an overly salty brown broth with a sprig of herb. The pasta special was inexplicably sweet. The house pinot grigio was almost flavorless. The room is beautiful and the menu has potential, we just wish the food was better executed.

This is our second time eating here and we won't be back. The food really isn't that good for the expensive price. There are too many better options, such as the Blue Rose Inn. It's a shame the food isn't better since the ambiance is lovely.

Things were not like other visits , crab cake was dry. Asked for cocktail sausrto moisten it. Creme brulee was hard like it was two days old.our business guess had the lobster salad and mention the lack of it. Bottom line 458.00 for 4 ? Just wasn't like the years before.

Our meal was excellent on this special Saturday night. Creative and farm fresh are the two top comments about the food. The service was attentive and precise. However, we felt a little rushed. The menus is a great value for this culinary oasis and the wine list is very extensive.

The Chef should be commended for his use of local foods. Pork Chop was excellent, as was the Salmon with a leek and herb jus. Just awesome.

When visiting Cape May we almost always eat one night in Ebbitt Room. Love the atmosphere, including the piano lounge and bar (always have drinks there). The dining room is also very beautiful and "alive". Service was excellent. Sergiu was our server and he was very good. All the food was very good (love the deviled eggs) except my steak and cake. The filet was wonderful but the crabcake was terrible. I eat crabcakes regularly in many restaurants and this was one of the worst I've had anywhere. Aside from that, everything was great.

As usual we keep coming back! It's always a great time and everyone makes you feel special. The food is exceptional and so is the wine list. My wife and I always arrive early so we can sit at the bar for a drink or two and listen to the live music.

Delicious halibut dish and surprisingly great steak on Sept 29th at this charming room in the Virginia Hotel. Drinks were made with fresh ingredients and yummy! Had nice selection of wine by the glass. Lovely service.
All this overcame the noisy environment----but conversation was taxing.

Food: Uneven. One of the two orders of flank steak was laden with gristle. Literally had to remove inedible portions four times in the course of eating it. Not exactly what I felt like doing in an elegant restaurant. Chicken dish: a leg instead of a breast. Really? Deviled eggs were delicious as was the creme brulee and the fruit crumble with ice cream.
Service: Haughty male server with an attitude of superiority from start to finish. Insisted on reading us the daily specials before bringing us the prix fixed menus we had asked for. Speaking at the pace of an actor in an Aaron Sorkin TV series, especially when coupled with an unfamiliar accent impedes communication. The gap between courses was ridiculously long. We informed the wait staff that we had a play to catch at 7:30 but we still had to ask three times for our dessert course and the check as we watched the time tick away. We arrived at 5:30 and departed at 7:20 and race walked to the show. The only commendable part of the service was the text message sent to inform us that someone in our part had left her umbrella behind. That was most appreciated. This was our first and likely our last trip to Ebbitt Room. We were the ones who highly recommended this restaurant based on its stellar reputation.

I don't know if it's because I have eaten here about 25 times- but I am finding the food overrated, quite expensive and sort of ho hum. Our waitress was quite energetic and had a practiced spiel which I interrupted due to my husband's hard of hearing. I asked her to speak directly to him so he could comprehend the specials. It threw her off. I realize she was trying to engage us both, but he needed the engaging. The swordfish was overcooked and the trout was not in the brown butter as described. It lacked any sauce and had a few capers sprinkled. I used to find the food delectable and interesting. Not anymore. I am ready to try a new restaurant when we visit Cape May.

Having been a customer a few years back, I tried this restaurant again. It could not have been any worse. The evening started with a waiter spilling drinks all over my husbands shoes. The dining area was "updated" whereas they decided to put the lobby piano and bar (which was expanded) into the dining room make it so tight that the waitress had to go out of the dining room and into the foyer to serve the guests at the table of 8 next to us. The food was horrible. The expensive bottle of wine we ordered disappeared and had to be relocated from another table from across the room! I will never return to this restaurant and do not recommend it to others. It is very expensive and you will be disappointed. I quickly learned from other people that the word on the street is this restaurant has earned a bad reputation.
