Ebbitt Room Ratings and Reviews
We were not impressed with our waiter. He did not introduce himself, did not smile and when we told him we wanted the Friday Pre Fix menu he almost seemed bothered. Food was good but I had the hanger steak which I could not eat as it was fatty. Bar food is always good to very excellent as is the bar service.
There are a lot of options in Cape May but the Ebbit Room stood out. It was a memorable dining experience. The bartender made wonderful old school drinks the right way (didn't cut corners) which is hard to find. Very handsome intimate bar. The food was not inexpensive but very good and worth the price. The atmosphere was warm and inviting.
It was the best food experience we've had in some time.
The room is great-- warm and inviting. Service was outstanding. Food would have been perfect if only it came out hotter. Wine list is good-- pricey but well- priced gems can be found. Overall a truly lovely dining experience. Surely one of Cape May's top tables
My husband and I had a lovely dinner there on New year's day. We've never had a bad meal in all the years we have been coming to the Ebbitt Room. My entree was Steak and Cake. The steak, potatoes, and vegetables were delicious, however, it was not necessary to include a crab cake, since it was overly salty and did not go well with the main part of the entree. Also, I noticed that the menu was quite overpriced during the holidays. Overall, it still is one of my favorites.
We loved The Ebbitt Room. Patrick made us feel welcomed from the moment we entered the lobby. We both enjoyed EXCELLENT meals! Our server, April, was attentive without being obtrusive. She was so pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu offerings. We appreciated her efforts to ensure that we had a memorable dining experience. A loud, but joyful, group celebrating a wedding dominated the dining room and elevated the noise level. Once they settled down a bit, it was easier for us to enjoy our own dinner conversation. We look forward to returning to The Ebbitt Room.
Delicious food. Try the deviled eggs with the toppings of the day as an app and the ricotta donuts for dessert. Bar and restaurant have a cosmopolitan yet homey vibe. Awesome dirty martinis at the bar. Live piano music and tastefully decorated for the holidays. Very crowded! Reservations a must.
We hadn’t been here in a year as we didn’t enjoy our last experience although we very much support the other restaurants of this family in support of their Beach Plum Farm and attention to sustainability. Our late December 2017 visit was a very nice dining experience. The menu was equal to a first rate restaurant as was the food preparation and presentation. We had a much more enjoyable meal than the last time here. The wine list is extensive with a good range of price points. We will be back in early 2018. Nicely done.
Food was great, but portions were very small! I am not a person who needs a big portion, but I was still hungry after my deviled egg appetizer and vegetarian stuffed pepper entree. Had to order the cheese plate to fill me up. My husbands tuna was tiny too. Maybe we should have ordered side dishes too?. But love the bar here and the service was great.
Tuna was overdone so I could not eat it. Servers did not even notice or care to know if meal was good. I think this was the most disappointing about the restaurant.
The restaurant was extremely charming and I guess since it was a holiday the staff was overwhelmed.
I live in NYC and am surrounded by some of the best restaurants in the world. I am a concierge and my job is to recommend said restaurants to my guests.
Ebbitt Room easily rivals the majority of the restaurants in the city. We were a party of three, all with very different tastes, and we were all more than satisfied with literally every dish that touched our table. This is the first time the three of us shared a meal and everyone left happy and excited about the meal. The ingredients were fresh, well seasoned, well cooked and well plated.
My only regret? That this fine establishment is located a 3 hour drive from the city; I'd be proud to recommend it to my guests. One thing for sure? When in Cape May again this is on the MUST list!
My wife and I were kidless for Christmas for the first time (both were with spoise’s family this year) so we took opportunity to spend Xmas eve in Cape May and made a reservation at the Ebbitt Room for dinner. The ambience is very Victorian but it is Cape May so that was expected. The food was amazing from start to finish. Some local oysters to start. My wife had the broiled scallops which she said were the best she ever had (the risotto was great too). I had the half chicken (upon my request the skin in the crispy side) was perfectly done and delicious.”, accompanied by yams that were equally so. We finished w the orange donuts which were to die for. An unforgettable meal.
Still a favorite..especially at holiday time!
Located Inside the Hotel Virginia on Jackson Street.. very creative well-prepared dishes, beautiful ambience a small bar to pass the time while waiting for a table or for an after-dinner drink ..valet parking is a plus special in the summertime.
Their appetizer of calamari was one of the best I've ever had.. certainly better than their sister property the blue pigs.. for dinner had crab cake and steak very good and rib eye steak also very good. And they're soft bread with their house made honey chive butter excellent!. it's a little on the pricey side, but absolutely one of the top restaurants in Cape May.
We had a great time. The bar is cozy and there’s additional seating if you want a private space. We ate dinner there because most places are closed on Monday in December. I’m glad we did. The food was excellent. Small portions so if you have a big appetite you might think twice. This is typical for gourmet dinning so I was not surprised. Thank you for making my birthday a memorable one.
We had a delicious dinner at the Ebbitt Room. We shared the charcuterie platter, which was very good but not great. It was ham, prosciutto and coppa - so not a lot of variety. We then both had the steak and crab cake. The steak was very good, and the crab cake was phenomenal. Wish it was an entree by itself. The service was very nice, but the busboys were waaaaay too over eager. The split second we finished eating (like literally still putting the fork down on the plate) they whisked the plates away. It made the evening feel rushed and unpleasant. But the food was great, so I still recommend.
The dining experience was phenomenal, especially with all the Holiday decor and cheer. We joined the entire restaurant and sang the 12 Days of Christmas during our dessert. A great way to ring in the Holiday season with great food and a cheerful atmosphere.
Excellent dinner during one of the Christmas celebration weekends. Service was over the top friendly, offered great suggestions and feedback on menu. I had the BEST EVER Pork Chop - OMG delicious. All food and drinks were exceptional. Great place for quiet romantic dinner. You will not be disappointed. A must stop for dinner in Cape May.
