Loved the ambience, food was very good and fresh. Nice food preparation.
beautiful setting for a delicious dinner; gorgeous front porch was perfect for an outdoor drink before dinner
Birthday dinner. Cocktails on the porch were fantastic. Food and service in the dining room amazing. A real gem!
We haven’t dined here in years and we dine out a lot in CM. One of the reasons is because they changed chefs several years ago. We were not impressed therefore we stopped going after 3 visits. So our friends said lets give it another try. I told the waiter to prepare my salmon the way the chef recommends. Most chefs will do it medium or even on the rare side would have been good. Nope, it came out well done and dry. I am done with this place until a chef change. Also their wines are priced way too high. A couple wines were in the forties and then exploded much higher. Our bill with tip for 2 was $200 with a $42 bottle of wine. Not worth it. Not going back.
Delicious food, great service. Music was too loud and made it difficult to converse. Music selections geared towards a dining experience would be highly recommended .
Go early and have a drink on porch. Lovely place to eat. I had a vegetarian meal that was NOT on menu, but was awesome.!
very good restaurant and Cape May, our server Adrian took very good care of us... the cocktails were very good.. we enjoys every sip of it... Plates very well decorated... it's a bit noisy: we couldn't hear\talk to each other during dinner...
We went here for our 5 year anniversary, both had the salmon, was very good. The dining room was kept very warm which made it an uncomfortable experience on a hot July day. They did give us complementary champagne for our anniversary!
Our favorite place at the shore. “Eye-rollingly” good.
Had dinner with old friends. Food and service perfect. Everyone enjoyed their meal including the vegan. Restaurant is noisy. I am sure we contributed to the decibel level.
We look forward to having dinner here each summer. The food is outstanding and the surroundings are lovely.
Menu was not very exciting. Food was good but not great. Vegetables undercooked with little flavor. Drink menu was the highlight. Would go back for bar but not for dining.
As always, the service at the Ebbit Room is outstanding! The presentation of the food is beautiful. My trout was tasty but quite spicy which I wasn't expecting. The local corn side dish us to vCard die for.
The food was good but not as good as we remembered.
My fish was cooked well but bland, my greens were highly spiced and a bit greasy.
We will return simple because the food is high quality and this is the first meal that was slightly disappointing.
The setting is perfect for Cape May, but I found the food to be overpriced for the offering. While quality of the food was good, it was nothing special that warranted 32 for a piece of chicken. NY doesn't even charge that much. The melon and cucumber gazpacho was delicious, but the cheese plate is not remotely worth the spend.
Bottom line, it's an overpriced option for what you get.
Visited Ebbitt Room twice in last 2 weeks. Both times was kept waiting for 20 minutes past reservation time to get a table. Service was indifferent (didn’t clear dirty dishes before bringing more dishes and I had to put some on the floor until finally someone came and I asked them to clear unused dishes and glasses) and forgot one of our ordered appetizers. The food was very tasty and well prepared but the room was deafeningly loud and the service desperately needs to improve.
While I had always heard good things about the Ebbitt Room I was disappointed to have poor service and a noisy atmosphere. This is supposedly one of the higher end restaurants in Cape May so to have a server take plates while others are eating and collect glasses with a drink still inside is simply poor training. The floor boards were bad due to the age of building and the waiters running back and forth from kitchen makes a very uncomfortable dining experience. Overall disappointed. The food was good, but not outstanding for what I paid.
Dinners were delicious! Trout one night and fluke another
Service was. Great
Very classy. Great food, service and ambiance. Will definitely go back.
We have dined at Ebbitt room several times over the past dozen years; always enjoying everything about the visit. The atmosphere is, as always, lovely. There were a couple of issues with our dining experience. My wife ordered the bottle of wine from the server. We were both stunned when the wine was presented to me, and not my wife, for tasting approval. Wine is presented to the person who ordered it, always. Our first courses were presented in a timely fashion; the tuna crudo was delicious. We then waited just over half an hour for our entrees of halibut and scallops. We were not approached during the wait with an update regarding the long pause. The entrees were plated perfectly, and the scallops tasted great, but they were just barely over room temperature. The halibut was quite overcooked. I generally don't ever send anything back and considering how long it took for the first time, we opted to simply chalk it up to perhaps a bad day in the kitchen. Clearly the timing was off. The wine issue...that was a rookie mistake and should be addressed by the head waiter.
My husband has celiac disease, which we clearly indicated on our reservation and told our server about. We checked with our sever about safe gluten-free options at each step of ordering. When it was time to order dessert, we again checked in and ordered the pot de creme based on what was flagged as safe. It came; we took a bite and immediately recognized that little crunchy chocolate balls on top likely had gluten. The busser took it back to check and brought out a fresh one without the chocolate balls but couldn’t confirm whether they’d actually had gluten or not. When we finally saw our server again he went back to check and confirmed my husband had eaten gluten. He asked if he was okay but didn’t offer an apology or comp the dessert which seems the bare minimum. Now my husband can look forward to two days of stomach-flu like symptoms on our family vacation. We will never come back.
The room is beautiful, the noise level deafening, the food quite ordinary and the service awful. Waiters were cleaning the floor during the meal. Very unimpressive!
I love the ebbitt room. It is such a nice place to eat and the food is amazing. My only complaint is it is a little loud if you are trying to have a romantic evening, it is difficult to hear the person sitting across from you.
The food was very good. Our waiter, Jordan, was attentive. We even got complementary glasses of champagne, as we were there celebrating an anniversary.
The food was excellent. Our waiter without me telling him brought me and my wife who is pregnant champagne and sparkling non alcoholic cider since it was our anniversary. The life piano was amazing. This is not our first time going here and always we leave happy
As usual the food, drinks, ambiance, and service were wonderful. The only reason I did not give it my usual five stars review was that my wife and I felt that the service was rushed, which has never happened before. The halibut and the trout were superb.
Great food, great atmosphere, great drinks. Love the live piano.
Food was hit and miss. Pork chop was delicious. Artichoke was kind of useless. Pea agnolotti was amazing. For dessert, the ricotta doughnuts were overly doughy and tasted of old oil, while the strawberry rhubarb crisp was fresh and yummy.
This is a summer resort environment with gourmet food. Descriptions in other reviews were accurate. The calamari mentioned in every review lived up to its hype. It was lightly breaded and served with bell peppers and a garlic sauce. My wife loved it. I had the beef tartar. It was certainly good, but I would have liked a little more spice. My wife had the whole rainbow trout which was perfectly cooked, and I had the king salmon with the pea however, this is a hotel and they need to provide a place for people to sit and relax.
Deserts were a disappointment, but everything else was fantastic!
The room is well appointed albeit a bit cramped. Like the name says, it is just a room, and the bar takes up a good portion of it. The food was well prepared, but the service felt rushed. It was like they wanted to kick you out so they can get the next table seated. The dessert menu also was not very inspiring. You can certainly get a better meal and service for $250.
We have dinner at the Ebbit Room every year to celebrate my birthday. We love everything about it. The food is delicious and the staff is attentive and friendly.
What can I say. It's always a great meal. Can't do it all the time, but when I want to treat me honey to something special.
Food and service were very good. It was a little pricey for what one gets, but what one gets is very good.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. We will definitely return.
Amazing Farm to table dinner in the heart of Cape May. Food and service were outstanding!
Class act with the drinks, food and service. Bustling place with lots of activity
