My husband and I had a very nice dinner this past Sunday evening at the Ebbitt Room. The food, drinks and service were top notch. My only complaint is that we were not told about the prix fixe dinner being offered at the time we were dining. We only learned about it halfway through our meal when the couple sitting next to us was offered the additional menu. I’m very disappointed that the hostess nor the waiter mentioned it as it was a great value and we certainly would have ordered off that menu.
Beautiful hotel, wonderful restaurant, excellent wait staff and food that is just amazing. Worth every penny!
The food and service were both very good. My only complaint was it was a very loud room.
Dinner at the Ebbitt Room is always extra special on Valentine’s Day. The food and service is always perfect.
We had a table for two but met up with some friends so they were able to give us a table for 4!
They should try cooking the food before serving. Super loud, tables on top of each other to cram in as many people as possible. Third strike for the ebbitt, last two times bad food and loud. No more
I have been to several high end restaurants in cape may and the one thing I take with me every time I go is it will probably be overpriced and don’t expect any leftovers! But I have to say we ordered a 14$ deviled egg appetizer that had only 3 ! 1/2 eggs on the dish.. wow. So I bought an egg and a half for 14$ !!! The food was alright but for 40$ a plate I expected more. I got scallops and I can make them better at home. The portions were so small I actually wanted to eat dinner again down the street at one of the pubs. Beautiful place, service was fine. I was just taken back by having a huge bill and even satisfied. I will pass on the ebbitt room next time in town!! Please give me more to eat for the money I spend , wow
Our family had an exceptionally wonderful experience on every level. We will be back with friends.
Food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all amazing! Can’t wait to go back!
My wife and I always love going to the Ebbit Room when we have our date night opportunities. Living here we have the opportunity year round and have never been disappointed. Whether for dinner or just happy hour, it’s always an enjoyable time with friendly and professional staff and bartenders.
The Ebbitt room is a finer dining option in Cape May and uses ingredients from its local farm, which is about 5 minutes away. I had the deviled egg selection which was delicious. We both had the chicken option from the weekday early bird, pre-fix option (ask about it if you dine early) and totally enjoyed it. The portions were more than reasonable and the preparation was nicely done. The restaurant has an extensive wine list and a congenial and talented bar-keeper in Leo. We dine here occasionally throughout the year and recommend you try the Ebbitt Room.
My friend and I went to the Ebbitt Room for their $35 prix-fixe menu. It's a deal! First of all,the atmosphere at the Ebbitt Room is always lovely. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and accommodating-from the valet who greeted us to the hostess, the waiter (Jordan),the servers-all were very professional. Our meals were delicious: We both had the deviled eggs for our appetizer. I'd had them before and they were so delicious that I'd come back for them! I had the chicken for my main course; my friend had the flat-iron steak. Again, delicious! That steak was cooked perfectly as well. For dessert,I tried the fruit crumble-which I'm sorry to say I couldn't finish because I was so full-and my friend had the home-made vanilla ice ream. He loved it. And,the wines by the glass were reasonably-priced for their quality.
I have to say that the Ebbitt Room can be a splurge, but you can't beat the $35 prix-fixe. Try it.
celebrated my 65th birthday in cape may! so cozy to relax near the fire and enjoy a cocktail before dinner. dinner was perfect-we were able to take our time and enjoy a bottle of wine. food was delicious. service was great! i loved it-great birthday celebration with my husband.
The exceptional service and quality as expected! Celebrated husbands birthday in CAPE May and chose The Ebbit Room for the birthday dinner. Perfect choice!
We last ate here 20 years ago and it has changed quite a bit. It used to be serene. It's now anything but. We had a 7:45 reservation. We arrived on time but were forced to wait 30 minutes. Drinks, cheese plate, and my chicken dinner were all excellent. My wife's salmon was OK. Even in the dead of winter, the high noise level in the restaurant was unpleasant. We figure 2 factors contributed to the noise. It was a Saturday, and the Brown room in Congress Hall was closed.
Been to Cape May for over 30 years and never dined at the Ebbitt Room. Our loss! The food and service were great, ambience was very good. Look forward to dining there again next time
it was very crowded, our waiter wasn't very good, he didn't even tell us about the specials or offer us any bread. food was ok, it was very noisy, we were right by the bar. don't know if I'd go back.
Have to admit that we picked this restaurant because it was in our hotel. The great bar, great food and great service was a pleasant surprise. The prices were a surprise at first, but recognized quickly that we were getting what we paid for and more.
We had the $35 prix fixe dinner offered form 5 PM to 6:30 PM it was fantastic. Choose one of three starters and one of three entrees and dessert. The portions were ample and delicious. The Ebbitt room is a Cape May gem to enjoy as a special occasion or just a night out for drinks and a meal.
The Red wine we requested was cold. RED WINE IS NOT served cold. And for being on the Wine Spectator list and known for their wine list, the $95 bottle we ordered was not that good. (We have a sophisticated yet modest expectation on restaurant wine.).
The braised short rib was mostly fat. The menu price was $40 yet we were charged $43. The filet came out medium when medium rare was ordered and even the waiter noted so.
Calamari was outstanding. It was light and crispy and the pepper, onion and sauce was scrumptious.
The Champagne that was a free gift was thoughtful but flat and flavorless.
These items were discussed with the wait staff, and they said they would be replaced. We told them that we didn’t want to wait for more of maybe the same.
Food and service was fantastic! A bit pricy but I’d go back!
one of the best nights ! Fun & festive full of people
Food was excellent, but 7:15 reservation became a 7:55 seating. That may seem a short wait to some, but one cocktail and no bar snacks left our hungry party cranky. Staff seemed overwhelmed with no obvious chain of command. Very lively for a Saturday night with excellent pianist, but it was very loud.
Too loud. Wife’s food was great. Mine was so so. Our waitress was great.
My husband and I went out to celebrate our anniversary and the Ebbitt Room is a perfect spot for such an occasion. My husband had potato leek soup for an appetizer and the scallops for an entrée. Both were delicious. I enjoyed the short ribs which was prepared differently then I have had elsewhere and i don’t think I had it any better. The service was impeccable even though it was very busy. I highly recommend.
The winter early seating is an exceptional dining experience and a real value. The food was delicious and perfectly portioned. Service was attentive and pleasant. Highly recommend.
A business contractor who works for me and I (we both live locally ) thought we would give The Ebbitt Room a try for a business meeting as neither of us had been in several years . We were seated promptly by an attentive hostess. We were attended promptly by the wait staff. Both of us ordered cocktails and they were both very good as were the biscuits and bread served right away. We ordered from the prix fixe menu, both of us ordering the mixed salad. It was soggy and overdressed. My guest ordered a roast chicken dish and I ordered the salmon dish. Both were subpar - the salmon was charred which tainted the rest of the flavors; the chicken was bony and flavorless. Dessert was a fruit crumble that was soggy (maybe microwaved?) and served with a tiny portion of ice cream. Coffee was cold. We asked for a warm up which was also cold. The server finally waited for a fresh pot and served that, which was good.
What a beautiful restaurant! Excellent service and great ambiance. I noted on our open table reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and the moment we sat down our server brought us two glasses of champagne and wished us a Happy Anniversary. It was totally unexpected! The food was delicious, great portions and excellent quality. We will absolutely make this our special place to dine next time we're in town.
Not up to usual standards, this was my third visit in 6 months somewhat disappointed.
Beautiful dining room with excellent service and food... my fiancé and I first went there after meeting 3 years ago... I’ll never forget our first dinner there and e keep going back
Tables very close. Floorboards weak. My chair moved every time people walked behind me. Became annoying.
The menu is quite limited, the quality of the food was way below par. My wife and I both got ill that night.
Our meal was delicious and a real treat. It was delicious and prepared with imagination and care. We plan to eat there whenever we are in Cape May.
As always, excellent food and service. Our waitress April was terrific! Everyone working there was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed talking with Jeremy the bartender. We went on a Monday night and pretty much had the dining room to ourselves, that doesn't happen often.
We had a wonderful dining experience at the Ebbitt room. The food was spectacular, the pianist was great and the cocktails were top notch. We will definitely be returning again.
A wonderful evening at every level. The food was excellent and the service was even better. Special thanks to our server, April, who helped make our wedding anniversary celebration special!
We have dined here on several occasions and this was as perfect as our other adventures. Service is always spotless, food is always good although somewhat pricey. Highly recommend the grilled calamari which cannot be beat. Brown butter sage pasta was off the charts and our short ribs were excellent. Salad was well done. Leo and Helen are terrific barkeeps. Vibrant crowd, cozy surroundings. A best bet in Cape May.
food was superb, service quite satisfactory for the number of guests, fabulous decorations - a grand way to welcome 2019!
Special Holiday menu couldn't accommodate specific food allergy. They were gracious enough to call over to sister restaurant to accommodate us
