Ebbitt Room Ratings and Reviews
Server named Jeremy was terrific. Rib eye steak was cooked to perfection, scallops were squishy probably should have been cooked a tad longer. Tables are so close together, tight seating. With the noise level, could barely hear my wife speak. I have been here in summer before.
I was a bit underwhelmed. And I wanted to love it and go back again. The bar IN the dining room is a deal breaker.
Scallops were good. Not outstanding.
Pork chop was good. Short pour on the glass of wine. Bread basket was yummy and toasty warm. Glad we tried it. Probably will go elsewhere next time. Sorry!
We dined there the other night. Is it very comfortable atmosphere. The service was good, the food was good but I did not feel that the prices matched the food served. I have no complaints about the quality of the food however, if you were going to charge $50 for a steak, There better be some wow factor involved. The steak was good but there was no wow factor. The wine list was OK. Not too many international wines mostly domestic. Prices were a bit pricey.
I would dine there again. But might be more observant on the prices.
We were in Cape May for the holiday festivities. We stayed at the Virginia Hotel and had dinner at the Ebbitt Room. Our dinner was excellent. Drinks were very good. The only negatives were that it was extremely noisy and I had trouble hearing my husband at times. This could be due to the fact that the bar is connected to the dining room. We were slightly disappointed that there weren't more options for dinner and dessert. Other than that, we would highly recommend the Ebbitt Room.
We found the portions to be extrordanarily small considering the price. We are used to paying for gormet food, however some corses were hardly gormet. The lobster salad appetizer ($16) was very small and could hardly find any lobster in it and they were tiny bits. My husbands truffle pasta appetizer was delicious but barely a forkfull. His sea bass was like soup. My tenderloin and crab cake were good gratefully. It was $48 and should be good. Pear cranberry crisp had no cranberries in it and was not crisp at all and the flourless cake tasted like a brownie. Very disappointing!
Unfortunately we did have a few hiccups with dinner, but overall the experience was fine.
The salad I ordered ( a special) was way to sugary. It needed a counter balance such as a lemon vinaigrette. Both entrees were very good.... Scallop dish and the chicken dish... We received the wrong dessert or so they said. They wound up giving us coffee and dessert on the house.
We would however go back again.
We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the Ebbitt Room. The beautiful atmosphere and delicious food made the evening very pleasant. The waitress was fabulous -friendly and attentive bringing our food promptly and filling our glasses as needed. The menu, while not extensive, does have a nice variety of entrees (quality vs quantity). The salads, appetizers and entrees are freshly prepared with wonderful accompaniments. The wine list is quite nice, a wonderful feature at the Ebbitt Room. The location is close the Washington Street Pedestrian Mall so it's close enough to stroll either before or after dinner (check the hours during the winter months). The Ebbitt Room is located in The Virginia Hotel which is a wonderful place to spend the night - fluffy pillows and duvets make for a comfortable night. Highly recommend this restaurant for special occasion dinners as well as just a nice night out with your date.
Although we had to wait 30-45 minutes past our reservation time, it was well worth the wait. Had a pre-dinner cocktail, pear martini, that was very tasty. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. The wine selection was incredible. We had Zorzal, a complex Malbec with a nice finish. The service was excellent and we had live music throughout our meal.
First time for Thanksgiving (early) dinner. Chose the turkey entree + wine tasting option. - Turkey was outstanding in flavor and preparation. Wines chosen were well suited for the 3 courses. Service was attentive, restaurant crowd not intrusive. Highly recommended.
My husband and I did the early dining option which included 3 courses for $35 a person. He did not like his calamari but didn't want to complain and the waiter noticed that he was not really eating it and insisted on bringing him a salad instead, which was excellent. All of our other courses were really great!
This is an upscale spot, which offers good food and drink. The service was what you would except from an upscale restaurant - attentive but not overly solicitous. The restaurant is part of the Virginia Hotel and the décor is a bit dated and stale. Perhaps it was the off season, but the atmosphere was very muted. I think that a Friday or Saturday night crowd would have been a little more lively.
Haven't been to the Ebbitt Room in a while since, with its prices,it really is a splurge. But,my friend and I took the opportunity to go for Restaurant Weekend and, even though,it was a hectic scene-especially being seated near the servers' entrance to the kitchen area-it was great. I appreciated the fact that they offered several offerings for each course, and did not skimp on the serving size. Even the wines by the glass were reasonably priced. The food was very good; the staff was efficient and pleasant; and the atmosphere was fine considering it was Restaurant Weekend...and Saturday night at that!
We thoroughly enjoyed the exquiste taste of our steaks and salads especially. Presentation was beautiful! The service was 5 star as was the hospitality of everyone. It was our third time visiting The Cape but first time in the Ebbitt Room. Would highly recommend!
Had a delicious meal with great service & atmosphere so much so we decided to cancel a reservation we had for the following evening at another restaurant and return to Ebbitt Room for a second visit. We were equally pleased on our second evening and have no hesitation in recommending Ebbitt Room!
