Service and food was beyond expectations and we will return.
Excellence dining experience, interesting cuisine options, all farm-to-table, and lovely service.
The lobster Caesar Salad was the best I ever had. Service was great!!
Food and service were wonderful on this April Friday evening, but the obnoxious loudness from the bar made for a far less than “fine dining “ experience. The bar, unfortunately, is essentially in the dining room.
I had the ribeye and it was awesome. Chargrilled oysters amazing as well as the flank pork. Great bartenders too.
Perfection!!!!! My favorite place in Cape May. Absolutely beautiful inside, The food is always amazing. Love sitting with Leo at the bar, he makes the best cocktails. Jerome, our server was vey attentive. Patrick, the manager always makes sure that our experience at the Ebbitt Room is perfect.
Love the Ebbit Room! Exceptional service, deviled eggs are never a dissatisfaction and of course the impeccably clean restaurant! A little pricey but worth every penny.
Our dinner and dessert was delicious !
Our server, Andy, and his support team were incredible. Jeremy the bartender made our drinks flawlessly. The chef and their team did a stupendous job working with local ingredients from a nearby farm. NOTHIN did not taste incredible!
A very special Easter Sunday dinner...All staff members were extremely cordial and attentive...
The food was prepared beautifully, and certainly delicious...
This establishment is second to none in paying attention to every detail...
Excellent service as always. A great Cape May restaurant. It’s our favorite place in Cape May.
Great menu and ambiance. Excellent service. Located in the first floor of the historic Hotel Virginia which is part of an excellent group of properties and eateries in Cape May.
This is certainly high end dining. I wouldn’t take the whole family of young ones unless the kids enjoy this type of menu.
Excellent food. Great presentation and flavors.
We had a lovely dinner in the most elegant room. It was quiet but some action at the bar which was fun to see people gathering having a good time. It was a memorable evening. Thank you.
From our early arrival it was very crowded. We had to seek out someone to take our drink order at our small table on their side porch. My Cosmopolitan drink for $12. Was very small, room temperature and not that good. The drink came without napkins and after seeing our waitress later we requested them along with the popcorn that is usually offered but was not. The napkins arrived and later the popcorn with apologies for its coldness and disclaimer that it was full of unpopped kernels. Our 7:30 reservation was delayed 20 minutes. Upon seating we were presented with the menu and were disappointed to learn that our $36. Order for dinner of 4 scallops did not even include a small vegetable. So, We each ordered the scallops and a salad. My red beet salad was ok, my husband’s green salad was good. Bread did come with dinner and it was warm and tasty as was the butter. The noise level in the restaurant was very loud and not what we enjoy. Please know that we have been patronizing this establishment for years and loved it, but recent changes do not encourage us to return in the near or distant future.
Server, great. Food not.
The food and the beverages were outstanding. The waitstaff were all very professional and friendly. The pre-fixe menu is a great deal!!
I had a beautiful birthday dinner. The food was outstanding and service was wonderful!! We ordered from the 3 course prefix on Friday night. That is a great deal considering how pricey the regular menu is.
Food was amazing and service was incredible... we’re definitely coming back
Great meal with good service. Highly recommend. Loved the Brussels sprouts!
we have had dinner several times at the ebbitt room and this was the first time we had a less then excellent experience. . the crab cakes were cold , the beverage orders took surprisingly a long time, and our cappuccinos luke warm.
Another perfect evening at the Ebbitt Room!!! Favorite spot in Cape May. I love starting my night with a cocktail at the beautiful bar. Leo makes the best cocktails. Always look forward to seeing Patrick, the manager, he does an amazing job. Food is always delicious. The Broccoli Soup was the best soup I ever had in my life. We always get the cheese plate to start and the deviled eggs....... The best!!
From the minute we walked in we knew this place would be great. We started out with a cocktail at the bar and they were fantastic. The martinis with the blue cheese stuffed olive were delicious. Our table was ready right around our reservation time. Jeremy, our server, was great and his service was top notch. The food was so good, we had the steak and cake and the scallops and both were done to perfection. Can’t wait to come back.
Elegant, delightful and worth the trip back. Reasonably price 3 course menu during the winter /off season in a beach town. Food and drinks were impressive. The staff were friendly and professional.
An excellent meal. Somewhat overpriced but still very good. Noise level is somewhat high probably due to lower ceilings but still an enjoyable atmosphere.
Went here while on a holiday weekend get-a-way. The entire experience was lovely -from the cocktail at the bar to the romantic and delicious dinner with amazing wine! The noise level did make it hard to hear at first but with the 8pm seating it quieted down as most ppl left. The atmosphere and ambience in this cute B&B restaurant was so special has me wanting to stay at the Virginia on my next Cape Map stay.
We love coming to the Ebbitt Room. We've been visiting this area and restaurant for many years. This particular year, because I had to work Valentine's day, my hubby and I decided to make a trip to Cape May to celebrate a belated holiday. Our request for a quiet table at which to spend our special evening was met with the finest area for quiet and romantic conversation. If you've got a special occasion, or just want a nice venue for a quality dinner, try the Ebbitt Room. You won't be disappointed.
Our food was excellent! We loved our waiter he was very helpful when it came to deciding what food we should choose. Service was fast and we did not feel rushed to leave the restaurant once we finished our meal.
The food is good but the value is not equal. A dozen oysters for $40? Ridiculous. And it doesn’t say that on the menu. $36 for an entree of 4 scallops as well. Like I said, good food but not worth the price.
The Ebbitt room is a terrific restaurant for fine dining in Cape May plus they have great bartenders to make your wait to be seated enjoyable .
While a little pricey , it was worth it as the meal from start to finish was delicious ; Service
was excellent and while a bit noisy , it can be easily explained that everyone else was having a great time too .
April, our waiter was amazing.
Ebbitt Room is the best in Cape May!!! We love Leo, the bartender, he makes amazing cocktails. He makes my favorite cosmo in Cape May!! The dining room is beautiful and I love the piano in the background. We love Paul, my favorite pianist. Dinner was amazing. Just made another reservation to come back in two weeks. Patrick , the manager goes above and beyond to make sure your experience at the Ebbitt Room is exceptional. Thank u for a perfect night.
The Ebbitt Room is always a great experience! If you are lucky enough to get a seat at the small bar you're very lucky! The drinks are great, atmosphere wonderful and food delicious. I either get seafood or the chefs vegetarian. The vegetarian dish is always delicious and not an afterthought. My husband had the char and it was delicious . Desserts are also nice. My only complaint is that the coffee this last visit was only warm.
Valentine’s Day dinner! Perfect venue for this special occasion. Food was excellent and artfully presented. This special 4 course dinner provided ample choices to please most of not all palates. Looking forward to next special dining experience at this restaurant and B&B.
Always a good place to dine. A bit pricy, tables are close and the noise level is very high. Service is always very good. The piano bar is exceptional for drinks.
All in all avery good place for the area.
Their $ 35 pre fixe menu is absolutely worth it. Service is always spot on.
Great for a special occasion, on the expensive side.
Great food. Cheese board was wonderful. Surprised at how loud it was, very hard to talk. Service was great
Appetizers and main dishes were very good, ice cream was disappointing. The room was very noisy and we couldn’t hold a conversation across the table.
The food, the service, and the ambience was great! The deviled eggs and oysters were amazing. For entrees, I had the scallops with a side of brussel sprouts. My husband had the pork shank and a side of lobster mac & cheese (loaded with lobster!).
Not my first or even second time here and for good reason. The Ebbitt Room is a favorite and a stop we look forward to going to when staying at The Virginia House. Atmosphere is cozy and quaint with low lighting and quite conversation. The piano player on Friday and Saturday nights is the prefect compliment to the ambiance of the room.
The wine list isn't extensive or overcomplicated, but just right and paired perfectly for the meals served. Handcrafted cocktails are done with a level of sophistication not seen everyday anymore. As with the wine the beer selection is just right.
The meals prepared never disappoint and there is something for every palate. My particular favorite is the Tuna Tar-Tar. Served rare you will be greatly surprised. Obviously being a beach Hotel and Restaurant there is heavy bias tword the seafood selections, but you would be limiting yourself if you didn't order one of the meat selections.
Not to limit this to just The Ebbitt Room our stay in The Virginia House is something we look forward to every year. A constant favorite with cozy intimate rooms that just add to the allure of The Ebbitt Room.
I couldn't think of recommending any other Hotel and Restaurant in Cape May.
I am counting down the days until our next trip back.
