Burgers were excellent.
My pbm was with service. The waiter was less than attentive. The place was not crowded (Sunday evening)
When I paid my bill, he neglected to return my credit card. I saw it inserted in the reader.
Couldn't find him, so I retrieved it as I left.
The final pbm was I noticed I was charged for an appetizer I didn't order.
Unfortunately for me I looked after I got home and the round trip taxi back would have exceeded the erroneous charge....
Good value. Attentive service. Custom salads (I wanted no cheese, my companion wanted neither cheese nor beets, and both salads arrived perfectly). We couldn't have a conversation without leaning way over thr table and speaking loudly, and this was at 5:30, 6:00 at night. Were people at the bar from lunch? I like the food and service but I will remember the ambiance and choose differently next time for a quiet get-together.
We decided to eat ar EATS restaurant while in New York City celebrating my wife's birthday.
I must say we were pleasantly surprise with the service and the food. We were immediately seated, followed by an attentive server, Benjamin, who saw to our needs. We began with an appetizer of oysters on the half shell followed by entrees of sea bass, which my wife is still raving about and a succelent cornish hen served on a bed of mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. That with a lively atmosphere presented for a most enjoyable evening.
I was sad to see the place didn't live up to my hopes. I had seen the other reviews and thought it would be a nice place for a casual birthday for my mother. The hostess was very pleasant. The server, however, seemed unfamiliar with working in a restaurant. Another server was able to take control of the table. The oysters and clams were fresh and delicious. The steak tartare was quite good. The steak was so-so. The short ribs were amazing and huge portion. Mashed potatoes were bland and thin. It was a slow night, and food took a long time to come out of the kitchen. Ordered one of their most expensive bottles of wine- they didn't have proper glassware for it. Certainly not the worst experience of my life, but no need to go back
great find for lunch or relaxed low key dinner in neighborhood. Good for before theater or movie. Doesn't break the bank but food is creative and well prepared. Fried oysters are great..crunchy and lightly batter oated. Kale pear salad is light and the oyster addition gives you the tasty protein. The sauted liver, sauteed onion and bacon sandwich is to die for. Really interesting combo and one very well. Burger was done as requested, was juicy and "delish" as per one of my companions. Will definitely make it part of our neighborhood places to frequent.
Be prepared to the the prices. It is a classical New York experience you have to make once in a while. We booked at the last minute and did not plan to be in such a place, so our dress code was not proper, but fortunately the personnel didn't seem to take care.
Attentive service all-around. Great cocktails. Cornish hen and short rib were excellent and the mussels didn't stand a chance of lasting too long on the table. Kids food arrived quickly and we didn't even have to ask. Our server was top-notch. Didn't hurt to be able to keep an eye on the basketball game over at the bar either. Would definitely return!
Fantastic burgers in a low-key place with no-frills, but polite and attentive service.
I would, however, strongly warn against ordering cocktails. At the very least, I strongly suggest, at the risk of looking like a cheapskate, that you ask the waiter or bartender the prices on drinks before ordering. My buddy ordered a Moscow Mule, and I ordered a Mojito, only to be hit with a $15 and $15.50 drink price at the end. The drinks were fine, but certainly not worth that price (which is pretty high, even for Manhattan). And given that the drink prices weren't listed on the menu, it all felt a little bit deceptive.
Overall, a great experience, but I would suggest having your drinks pre- or post-dinner.
We were starving when we arrived, and felt ready for the museum but not too stuffed to move after a great meal of citrus accented beet salad with mesclun greens and a chicken liver sandwich that was truly decadent. Sweet Potato Fries hit the spot as an added side, providing comfort, and carbs to this gluten free eater, as there was no GF bread option. No matter. Worth!
Went for a late lunch and found it almost empty around 2:30 pm. We ordered two burgers and two cups of coffee. Nice burgers, but nothing extravagant. Good sweet potato fries with one, good kale salad for the other. Oh, and an extra order of regular hand-cut fries.
The total bill including the tip was over $70, yes USD. A new high for the most basic lunch in America. If you've got the money, enjoy yourself. If not, stay away.
The staff was very friendly and polite, but the price... I live in Manhattan and know what to expect.
We came over for Brunch based off my little sister's recommendation and I was not disappointed considering I'm huge on brunch food. I'm a server myself so I usually notice the more subtle things when it comes to service. Our waitress was very patient and attentive with us regardless of the fact that she had full sections. Even the waiter support were very polite and came to check on us when the waitress was busy which shows great team work and cohesiveness, which is not too common based on my experience. The food prep time was timely and delicious! Will definitely return with some friends for a bar seating in the future. Cheers.
