Deemed "One of the 30 Places to Eat Before You Die" by writer Lorraine Eaton, this local gem converts first-time guests into long-time fans on a daily basis.

The intimate location (great for a date), tucked away at the north end of the Virginia Beach oceanfront, has become a local favorite. The eclectic menu has something for everyone, including creative renditions of steaks, fresh fish and seafood, possibly the best burger you'll ever have, vegetarian and more. Plus, there's a chalkboard of daily specials, and a full list of wines, craft beers and cocktails.

Open 7 days a week, it's a MUST-TRY in the resort area.

I have been to Eat on several occasions, mostly for a nice romantic dinner with my spouse and the ambiance has always been quiet , and very little noise. I scheduled a party of five for a nice causal business dinner. Unfortunately, we had to move to another table because there was a party of at least 20 people who were extremely loud , rude and obnoxious . The party of 20 were seated on the whole right side of the restaurant. I could not believe how loud they were . I was very very disappointed that a party of 20 would be booked and be aloud to carry on they way they did . It really ruined my whole experience . My friend had a dinner reservation at 9pm with her husband and she had to move to another table too. Everyone around me was commenting on how loud and rude the party of 20 were behaving. I am very disappointed that the manager did not address this issue . I will think twice about coming back to Eat. 😞

Best pairing of flavor and texture. You won’t be disappointed. Liked the fizzy drinks, too.

The service was inconsistent at best. The food was okay but nowhere near as good as previous visits. Steak was undercooked and pork chop was undercooked. May not be back in the future.

I live in the area and Eat is one of my favorite restaurants! I live nearby and ride my bike there quite often; it's great place for any event from a date to a celebration or just drinks and appetizers for happy hour. It's upscale but not intimidating and the food is worth the price.

This was my first bad experience at Eat. They were very busy and seemed understaffed for a Saturday night. The hostess was rude and the food and drinks took a very long time to come. Disappointing service from Eat, but I am calling it a fluke and will definitely be back!

Came in for reservation and got seated right away. Waiter and waitresses alike passed us by numerous times for 20 minutes. Did not see our waitress until two requests to two different wait staff. That was disappointing. Hostess had not told our waitress we had been seated. We did get an apology from a waiter that finally got us served.

Food was excellent. Best in VB, which made up for it.

Drinks - we ordered a drink on menu that was not available and also a bottle of wine and both were out. It was replaced by excellent substitutes.

Just not typical of the service I have received in the past.

We had family and friends visiting from Pennsylvania - and we wanted to celebrate a special week. Eat is such a wonderful experience . . . and we try to take all of our visitors there at least once. As usual, our guests were thrilled.

Our server was amazing! This is a cozy place with many interesting choices on the menu! Could eat there every day of the week in order to try everything.
The tuna entree and fried rice was a bit dry but still very tasty! Monday’s are half price bottles of wine which is a great value! Highly recommended.

The food (the part we received) was good, not exceptional, but good. But the service was terrible. We left before our main course. The restaurant overlooks a parking-lot, so not the best view although the decor is good.

Food was great. Creative dishes and something for everyone. The burgers are crazy big but delicious and the scallops were cooked perfectly. Will absolutely go there again.

We really enjoyed our anniversary dinner - we shared the rockfish special, as well as a pistachio encrusted goat cheese salad & the truffled scallops appetizer. All 3 we're amazing, & our waitress was enthusiastic & efficient.

Eat has become our favorite restaurant. We probably dine out . . . 3 or 4 times every week, and when we host company (often from out-of-town), Eat usually becomes our guests' favorite restaurant, too! While we love most of the menu items, the specials are so wonderful that we can simply order off the board. So we try to arrive early - to make sure the specials are still available!

Dinner with a colleague at one of my favorite restaurants in Virginia Beach! We shared the chicken Shiitake mushrooms popstickers which were fantastic! Ordered the oyster stew and rice paper flounder with spinach coconut curry broth and both were delicious!

The chef has an amazing palate. Every dish was thoughtful, flavorful and elegantly presented. It's rare that we leave a restaurant without finding that one thing that is lacking, but this is one of those rare moments. The waitress described the dishes like they were fine art, and they were. Every recommendation was spot on. Out best VA Beach foodie experience thus far. From the crispy brussle sprouts, to the Fire and Ice, the basil fed escargot and bone marrow in their "Ants on a Log", the Perfectly cooked Pork Chop, the raw and Rockefeller oysters, we loved it all!!! If you're in VA Beach, Eat is a must!

Absolutely beautiful plating of delicious, carefully prepared food. Good variety on menu.
The service is great and if you haven't been for a few years, service has improved incrementally. It is obvious the chef cares about his menu, its variety and how he presents it. The desserts are worth the price of admission...chocolate to melt in your mouth, and a caramel-- ginger cake in a glass that is unforgettable and will have you running back for more!

Are you kidding me???
Absolutely terrific. Interesting and comprehensive menu, yet not too broad. We shared the Cobi Special and it was amazing. The oysters were fresh the "fire and ice " (tuna tatami)was as yummy as it was gorgeous, and even the simplest of our appetizers (meatballs) was on point. Great wine menu and the server could not be beat! I wish I could recall her name. I highly recommend. Wish we could have a similar spot in Lancaster PA!

What a wonderful surprise! We have passed by this place many times without giving it a second look. While on a run, I happened to stop and read the menu posted on the door and we decided to give it a try. Everything was outstanding! The Tangier oysters on the half shell were perfect, the kale Caesar with homemade croutons was delicious, the halibut special was creative and beautifully prepared, and our server was superb. We will return!

The food was phenomenal! I ordered the filet with truffle mash and brussel sprouts...mmmm, heavenly!

The only complaint we had was we were seated by the back door that leads to the bathroom. It was cold outside so every time the door opened we were freezing. Unfortunately it detracted pretty significantly from the overall experience because people were going to the bathroom all night.

We love Eat!! Except parking is sometimes a problem. My husband loves the paella which they did as special one evening. With 48 hours notice they will prepare it for you specially. It was an almost last minute decision to go there with our son and his wife and with only hours notice they made the dish for him. That’s exceptional service.

Exceptional. Food was five star quality (just as good as many 5 star restaurants I have visited). Server was wonderful as well; offered many recommendations and was down to earth. The food. Wow. Presentation, texture and taste was awesome. We had a lot! Ordered: ants on a log, scallops, octopus, pountine and the duck special. Everything was delicious. Perfectly cooked and flavored. We will certainly be back. Worth every penny and then some. Compliments to this restaurant and chef!
