Eat was a pleasant surprise. Situated much like a coffee shop, the food was very flavorful and the chef really played with great palate-pleasurable choices.

Okay so now that I got the "fufu" talk out of the way, let me get real....I had a few "OMG" moments, like "whoa." when I tasted the food; big eyed, slap your forehead type of moments. I had the corn chowder and the scallops. The scallops were tender, cut like butter, there was popcorn on the plate! Popcorn!! Talk about texture. Who puts popcorn on a plate and makes it taste good? Apparently Eat does!

Now when the crowd came it was tight in there but we adopted a couple next to us and chatted it up! The bathroom is external to the restaurant, so when I exited and that cold air hit me, my need-to-go, turned quickly emergent. However, overall, my family enjoyed the quaint experience.

For a reservation of 2, I wasn't impressed with our table which was a round table. It was also really loud and required us to almost shout to be heard over the din.

Eat Restaurant is consistently the best restaurant in Virginia Beach. Small and intimate, they make the most of the space creating a cozy atmosphere. The food is exceptional as is the presentation. I have never had anything less than a very very good meal at Eat all the way up to the sublime. For a special occasions and family/friend gatherings, this is the perfect spot. Service is impeccable as well. There are reasons this is #1 in the city!

Victoria was informative of speacials and knowledge of food and beverage menus. Along with delicious, well presented food, quaint setting, and pleasant service; we had a wonderful date night!

Always a favorite. Call for reservations. Fresh local catch. Creative menu. Always several new dinner specials (both Big and small plates). Great wine list.

We tried EAT during Restaurant Week. The food was excellent as was the service. We sat outside which was pleasant, but there is no view. We'll return to EAT.

Great experience from hostess greeting to departure. Our waitress, Victoria, was wonderful! The food was fantastic! Great tucked away spot. Hip, modern, decor. We were tourists and it was nice to find a non-touristy spot on the boardwalk to eat. I am vegan and the chef accommodated that with great ease...they whipped up some delicious masala roasted veggie tacos. The Brussels sprouts are not to be missed! Highly recommend!

This wonderful restaurant is definitely a local's place. I have been coming to the place for about 8 years. I can tell you it has only gotten better and more refined over the years. I ordered a house salad, which was average. However, the Halibut with rice paper and pesto in a broth of saffron and coconut milk with spinach was UNBELIEVABLE! The flavors just exploded in my mouth and each bite as extremely satisfying. I complimented the main meal with a side of grilled Brussels sprouts, pumpkin seeds and a pomegranate drizzle. This was so tasty. I had two glasses of Lodi Zinfandel during the meal. When I heard they had a Grand Mariner Creme Brulee, I had to order this dessert. It was beyond expectation! I took my time and savored each bite. The entire experience was gourmet quality and I would literally drive 4 hours from the Washington, DC area to have a meal here. I can't wait to come back! Thank you!

EAT never disappoints. My husband had one of the specials, Rockfish. He said it was great. I had the tuna which is on the menu. It was cooked to perfection and had great flavor. My friend let me taste her asparagus/leek soup- YUM! We love to be able to sit outside.

Food was great....once we got it. 3 tables that arrived after us got their meal before we even ordered. We never got our bread to start and when approached by the waiter we were not told to specials; we were only asked if we were hungry. If it wasn't already 730pm with bad weather, we would have left.

I feel like we were overcharged quite a bit. We should have looked closer at bill, but on leaving we realized we were charged way too much. (It was 1/2 off for bottle of wine and we ordered a 28.00bottle. May have been overcharged as much as 50.00)
Excellent food though, just tainted by a feeling that we were taken advantage of🤔. (We don't usually share bottle of wine, but we were walking)

AMAZING. We've been reading a lot of reviews of other restaurants in VA Beach and we've been disappointed, but THIS place is HANDS DOWN the best (yes, we are picky). Service was warm, friendly and speedy. Charcuterie and cheese board to start - perfect for 4 different sets of taste buds. Recommend the yuzu cooler - like summer in a glass - delicious!! Scallops and grits - sweet, succulent, fantastic. Seared filet over mashed potatoes - perfect. Picky teenagers enjoyed the crab stack and meatball apps for dinner. No room for dessert, but I'm sure it would have been fantastic. 5 stars all around - will definitely return. PS our son forgot his epi-pen bag on the back of a chair and the waitress ran after us about 1/2 mile down the boardwalk. Service!! :)

Excellent as usual. creative fresh ingredients. All 4 of us were pleased with the food and exceptional portion sizes for a "foodie" menu. My friend who had the crab cake said she was so full that the next day she was not hungry all day. Excellently curated wine list with reasonably priced, excellent wines characteristic if the varietal. You can tell that the person choosing wines has an excellent palate, understands what wines pair with their menu, and has an eye for quality/price ratio. Don't be afraid to try their lower priced selections.

We don't get to eat here too often as we live in C'ville. But, it's a must when we are in VA Beach.

We always look forward to to eating here whenever we are In town. Was so disappointed in the service. Waitstaff was harried and inept. We always had to request that table be cleared prior to next course. She brought the dessert menu when some of us were still eating or while others still had dinner plates in front of them. Bread basket brought out only when we inquired as others had it and it only arrived when most of us were almost done.

My wife and I were in Virginia Beach for the first time for a short two day visit. Eat was recommended by an old college friend I've known for over 40 years and he grew up in Va Beach. Naturally, we asked him for a recommendation and his fave spot there is Eat. I'm an avid cook and I think I know my stuff quite well and, as a result, I can be a pretty tough (but fair) critic. I can really say nothing but good things about our meal and the service. Their simple menu of small and big plates offered a nice variety and we took advantage; baked oysters rock and a green salad with a nice round of fried chevre for apps; a crab stack as an accompaniment, and a filet served with shallot, mashed potatoes, and a few haricots verts. A nice bottle of wine (which happened to be half-price on a Monday) and then we took back to our hotel room a piece of their angel food cake. Sounds like pretty traditional fare but it was all prepared with a flair and style that created a meal that was less traditional than it sounds. It was really very good! And our waitress was very natural and attentive. All in all we had an outstanding meal and would highly recommend this place.

6 of us went to birthday dinner for my sister. Creative menu with good execution. Sea bass special and steak filet were perfectly cooked and presented. Service friendly and acommodating but delivery of our food was slow and a little disorganized. Waiter forgot 2 of our appetizers! Luckily portions were generous and we didn't need them. We had a lot of fun and will certainly go again.

Another great meal. When we visit Virginia Beach each year, we always dine here and it never disappoints. Our server was not particularly helpful and did not get a part of our order correct (and tried to say my father-in-law had ordered incorrectly which was untrue as we all heard his order) but all the other staff were outstandung as was the food. We will defintely be back.

Quality restaurant!!! We went for a date night and it was the perfect spot. Food was top notch quality. Pretty extensive wine list. Quiet and cozy. Great ambiance. Somewhat off the beaten path from the rest of Boardwalk. Only criticism (and it's slight) is the server couldv'e checked up on us a little more but I'm pretty sure she was new so it wasn't a big deal. 100% worth it!

The restaurant is within walking distance of where I am vacationing so it was very convenient. The food is excellent and while the menu is not extensive it has a nice variety. There is a good bar and a good wine list. It's not inexpensive but reasonable for the quality of the food. Reservations are a must.
