We are located in the East End, just a stone's throw from the Old Port. Come on by and try a hand-crafted cocktail or grab a burger made from cold-smoked local beef.
I’m the words of my fiancé “I loved everything I put in my mouth here.”
Had a lovely experience at East Ender on Saturday night. Had 5:45 reservations and was seated no problem. Then enjoyed a couple delicious beers along with the Ricotta Gnocchi and it was great! Would definitely recommend to a friend, and will definitely be back!
Food was good
Nice restaurant, OK experience. There are a lot of options in Portland, we enjoyed our evening at East Ender, not sure I would include at the top of my suggested list
Great food and service! We will be back.
Would definitely come back to this restaurant. Really enjoyed the mussels, best I’ve ever had. My friends had the risotto, also excellent and very generous servings.
Always good food. One of my go to spots in Portland.
A reliable gem - the East Ender consistently serves up innovative and delicious combinations in a warm, homey atmosphere with dedicated and conscientious staff. Yes, there are a ton of choices in Portland, but the East Ender never disappoints and somehow always manages to keep it fresh and pleasantly surprising - which is why we keep going back.
Excellent in every respect. Perfect for Mother’s Day brunch! Highly recommend.
Very quiet, very classy space. Dinner service does not start until 5:30pm but there is a happy hour snacks menu in the interim.
Great burger medium rare. The smokey cheese was delicious. The fries were crispy and tasty. This restaurant was spotless. It is a true indication of the pride these folks take.
I feel this place is so under rated! The waitresses are always welcoming and the food is so good! Chicken wings will have you keep coming back for more. The Ginger Lemon Drop is by far my favorite drink!
Good atmosphere. Prices are good and lower than other restaurants. We didn’t have any appetizers because we had drinks elsewhere. Two people had burgers and loved them. I had chicken sugo on pappardelle-flavor was decent but it was floating in grease and had too many roasted red peppers. Too bad they didn’t skim off the fat prior to plating.
I can’t recommend East Ender. I ordered the pork shoulder sandwich and the pork was a cold, dry flavorless hunk on the bun. It really needed to be cooked in a sauce or served with something more than just the aioli. I told the waitress it was dry and she brought more aioli. It helped the dry factor but the sandwich just didn’t come together. I also ordered a Caesar salad. It was quite bland and dry. Overall, the food lacked flavor. I wished I had taken my out of town guest somewhere else.
Amazing meal and the perfect place to celebrate a 30th birthday!
First time at this restaurant. Food was excellent. Cozy ambiance. We'll be back
Food was really good, would definitely go back!
Everything we ordered was prepared wonderfully and tasted fabulous. The only thing I'd say is the menu is extremely small and limited.
It was a nice enough spot for Brunch with some above average dishes. However, there's a lack of maturity that keeps this restaurant from reaching a higher level of quality. First and foremost is the fact that if you offer a Sunday brunch that ends at 3, you shouldn't be out of half the menu by 1 pm. The other are the dishes themselves: eggs in purgatory, which are two poached eggs drowning in marinara and aided only by two flimsy pieces of toast, is an incomplete dish that's hard to get through. It needed one more component to balance all that acidic tomato sauce. The duck confit was a little better, but still displays a lack of grace with all the duck fat and insufficient amount of actual duck. Overall, a fine place, but honestly more than a bit disappointing. At least the prices are reasonable.
This place is great. The menu is just right and food is top notch. Love the atmosphere and excellent service.
We continue to have consistently delicious meals at Eastender.
Excellent service and food, locally sourced and creative
Always enjoy the food and have been fortunate every time to beat the crowd. Great place for brunch
Best muscles I’ve ever had
Food was very good service was just as good wine was good
The food was good, but there are many olaces in Portland with good food. The disappointing part was the service. Our waitress seemed annoyed that we were there and she was not very friendly.
Perfect as usual. The Asian slaw had an interesting combination of crunch, acidity and sweetness.... the skate schnitzel (what a great idea!) was subtle and delicate, not the words you would usually associate with schnitzels (!) and the Brussels sprouts had just enough heat to go with it. I think that one of EastEnder’s great qualities is that flavours are great, but never overpowering. The 4 of us also shared one profiterole and one chocolate torte and they were gone in a minute flat. Lovely service as usual as well.
The food was outstanding, especially the gnocchi. Our server (I wish we could remember his name) was great as well! We will definitely be back.
The food always tastes good, the drinks are delicious, the people are always nice and welcoming, and it's kind of shockingly reasonable in price given the new normal in the neighborhood. It's the most underrated spot in Portland for me—it knows just what it wants to do and always does it well. I hope it is full every night forever, but also somehow not so full that we can't get a table when we need one.
Casual night out and EE was perfect. Great atmosphere, food and service. Will go here more
They were great! From the atmosphere to the waitstaff and the food! Amazing all around!
A friend and I had a lovely time at the East Ender. My ginger-lemon drop cocktail was delicious, the food was great, the service was friendly, attentive, and quick, and it was simply a lovely place to spend a chilly Friday night in February! Highly recommended!
I had a night out with two friends. We made a reservation so we wouldn’t have to wait and were seated right away. The decor was nice, modern. The service was prompt. The only thing is, they will not begin preparing your apps until you order your entree. So no chatting until those things are check off the to-do list. The food was really delicious, unique. A little unexpected; example Brussel sprouts were served deconstructed in a salad form. Interesting. Good but I felt needed....something. Overall a great meal and experience. I will be going back.
Went for vday. Prices were good, food was amazing. Services was decent. Mocktail menu is nice for those of us who want something but don't drink. Will go back for sure.
We went for Valentine’s Day, the drink was great (Ginger Lemon Drop) and had the Asian slaw and fries to start. For entrees we got the braised pork shoulder and the lobster risotto. Everything was good, I wish the portions were bigger for the price but this is pretty standard for a location downtown. Would come back again to try different thing so.
I brought my “foodie” friend to Sunday afternoon brunch for her birthday. There was not anyone in the dining room but the upstairs lounge seemed busy. I think that you must try it! The homemade doughnut was delicious, my friend had many questions about her choice of a cocktail and the bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. We both ordered the house burger and fries. Excellent! The pickle on the side was the best too. I ant wait to go back and would highly recommend East Ender.
Good waitress but she appeared too busy
Food delivered nice and hot
Nice menu with good prices
will be back
We all enjoyed our meals at the East Ender. Very nice ambiance. We sat upstairs where it was warmer. Good service and very pleasant staff. We are looking forward to returning soon.
We went early, before a show at the Good Theater. Food was great, service too. One person could have no garlic and waiter returned with a list of everything that could be served that way; lots of options!
