Our anniversary dinner was cancelled last minute by another Portland restaurant and we were fortunately recommended to try East Ender. We got a fantastic table, great personalized service, and some of the best food we have ever had. The ricotta gnocchi were magical, the creamed kale was velvet, and the crab casino was amazing. It was a phenomenal experience top to bottom. Absolutely worthy of sitting at the top of the many dining experiences we've had all across the country.
We both got the burger and it was delicious!
Second time there. Both times were great. Highly recommend.
Everything we ordered was excellent, including dessert. And our server was great, highly recommend.
Ambiance and drinks were great, along with the service. The food was good but not great. The scallop risotto lacked flavor. All together the experience was great, but the food was a tad underwhelming.
The food was tasty but a $20 burger it was not. Also had the pork shoulder which was super delicious. Drinks were perfect and our server was attentive.
Excellent small space that knows how to do food well! We frequent this place in all seasons and it never disappoints.
We went for Sunday brunch with high hopes which were sadly not met. One hamburger with fries and one grilled cheese with fries. These are standard easy to make meals! The grilled cheese was really small and flabby, the hamburger lacked flavor. Was it the chefs day off - maybe. Portland has an excellent choice of places to eat including "Duckfat", right next door to East Ender which is better in every way, and I would head there instead.
Food and service was amazing. The mussels were the best
Food is always amazing and service just as good. Some of the best wings in Portland
First time back since it was Norm's. We caught it on a slow night, which was perfect. Nice atmosphere...quiet. Waiter was very pleasant and friendly. Food was good, though servings were a little on the small side, imo. Overall good experience.
For certain things, it was very good-- like the Caesar salad and fish and chips (not enough salt on fries, though!). Braised pork was stringy and very dry--hard to eat, really. Good value on wine.
This was my first visit to the East Ender. I would definitely go back. The meal was perfect - tasty and just the right portions. Our server was a delight too.
Great service, great food, and great cocktails!
Always great. Just a lovely place. Make a point of checking out this neighborhood secret.
We were overall very disappointed in our dining experience at east ender. we decided to try it based on the reviews we had read. We all got something different and three of us though the meal was okay but mine was terrible, i could not even eat it. The service was not very good. we ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer and they arrived 5 wings with no garnish just thrown on a small plate which the server just threw on the table without a word and left. They lacked flavor, we did not even eat them all. We got drinks at the beginning of our meal and the server never came back to ask us if we wanted another one. I had two bites of my meal which was the grilled chicken with fingerling potatoes and salad. The chicken was flavorless and rubbery, the salad dressing had a terrible sour flavor. when the server came back at the end of our meal he did not ask if i wanted to take the rest home or if I liked it he just cleared the table and brought us our check. I would not recommend this place.
Good food, poor service
The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. No matter what you choose for dinner be sure to end your meal with the profiteroles!! Soooo good!
It was an expected experience to turn daily dining into a date like night. The food, the service and the atmosphere were lovely. Well done East ender!
Delicious food and great seevice
This place was awesome all across the board. The food was amazing- my friend said the gnocchi were like biting into a cloud - so light and fluffy and delicious. My chicken was unreal- not sure how they got it so tender. The service was prompt and responsive, but also sweet and casual. There's no stuffiness here. Just great food and service and a cozy ambiance. Definitely will return! Oh- and the value for the price point is spot on.
Great little spot, awesome taste in music, excellent food and clever drinks. Definitely worth a try!
Loved everything! The mussels were incredible!
Although East Ender didn't have Gluten Free bread/rolls to accommodate their sandwiches on the lunch menu, they did offer options for a lettuce wrap or any of the sandwiches on rice...all very tasty options. Our server was very knowledgeable about Gluten sensitivity and allergy issues which was reassuring given that 3 in our party of 5 have gluten sensitivity issues or celiac.
So glad we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant! The ambiance was cozy and warm. The staff was wonderful and accommodating to the fact that our 10 month old was dinning with us. Portion sizes were good and the prices were reasonable. We will be back for sure!
Awesome dining. Our server was efficient, friendly, cheerful and helpful.
Great spot, nice brunch menu, great cocktail and drink options.
Nice restaurant, comfortable atmosphere, great service
A Portland gem! Like a warm and cozy and yummy little neighborhood Bistro. Great vibe and incredibly tasty meals.
Excellent neighborhood restaurant with excellent cuisine. Foodie delight without the prices or the tourist lines.
One of our favorites in Portland. Great food, service, and atmosphere, with a pleasant bar, as well. Upstairs ( our preference) is a bit nicer and quieter than down.
We "stumbled" into East Ender during a January snow storm when we moved to Portland 4 years ago and were immediately in love with it. Today, we still consider East Ender to be one of the very best restaurants in Portland, with interesting cocktails, an intelligent creative menu, great flavors (but not overwhelming) and consistently friendly, unhurried service. We are made feeling at home with their smiles and the owner's great generosity every time we step into East Ender for another great meal!
Food and service was amazing! We will be back!
Easy to book, great table, service, food, and price!
Service and food were excellent! We will definitely be back again soon!
East Ender is a fun place but SO loud on a Friday night. Good for them that it was filled up, but the table of 4 next to us had to yell over the noise, making it worse. Food was really good, with not too big servings and reasonable prices. Will go at another quieter time.
Absolutely!
Menu choices had variety.... but not enough vegetables for those who are plant based...
Fresh nutritional vegetables could play a much bigger part on the menu... please!
We all felt that the brussel sprouts were MUCH TOO SALTY...
We have commented on this to the servers MANY times... and we keep hoping that the heavy hand that salts them made an error and will correct it when we come back and order again!
;-(
The food was terrific and the service was excellent. the food was hot when it was served!
We enjoyed our experience.
It was good food, I had the hake and fries. The fries were nothing special, the fish was good.
Great seat, waiter was fantastic and personable. Fries/burgers/cava were all as good as advertised. Would definitely refer restaurant to anyone - will be back for sure. Cozy for date night - can't wait to try the brunch menu soon. Hopefully that chicken/waffle meal will appear on the menu.
