Totally disappointed. They TRIPLED my tip on my credit charge card WITHOUT my permission or knowledge. I only noticed it after reviewing my expenses and charges for charge verification purposes at year end and for tax and expense tracking purposes. I was at this place on 9/8/16 for a dinner before a concert. The service was sub par, the attentiveness was slow, even with an empty place.
My waiter was Juan per the receipts I have. It seemed like he may have been the owner too. Now my credit card company says it is too late to dispute AND the place is out of business with a disconnected telephone line.
This is not the first time this has happened at a restaurant on a charge.
Buyer (charger) beware.
Anyone know how to get a hold of the owner for a refund?
Completely disappointing given that we had no warning that they had closed. We had to scramble to find a plan B before attending a performance. It is too bad that the restaurant didn't notify open table in a more timely manner, change their voicemail or their website.
Very sad to learn that this place is closing due to having the building sold out from under them...I guess the property values have driven the costs up, which is a shame. The ambiance and food preparation is terrific here, especially the Italian-American traditional dishes (eggplant parmesan, pastas), not to mention one of my favorite Polish dishes - stuffed cabbage. The service and waitstaff were extremely attentive and knowledgeable. This place will be missed.
We were sad to learn from the staff the restaurant is closing in the new year and space is being taken over by the plumed horse somehow. This is/was a great spot with yummy food and drinks and great staff. We will miss u Alice!
Not as good as hoped, based on previous reviews from other customers. Not bad, not super good...but with so many choices out there...
Our experience was awesome--as usual at Alice's! The food is fantastic, the musical entertainment was fabulous and Alice herself is divine---HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Food was not very good, and it was overpriced. The zeppole were particularly disappointing--heavy and greasy. The restaurant seems to have an identity crisis. It can't figure out whether it's Italian, Polish, or Mexican. They need to stick with one cuisine and perfect it.
Not very good. Alice never saw the east coast. Ordered a veal dish which you could hardly cut with a knife, and it was a big one. If you cannot get good veal take it off the menu.
The pasta dishes were fair but nothing special. We ordered a dish of steamed clams ($17) as an appetizer to be shared. It came with 1 small piece of bread. I will not go back.
Good times. The zucchini appetizer was excellent.
The food was great I had one of the specials and the drinks were awesome
The owner/manager (?) brought out some gluten-free bread so that I could soak up the wonderful broth with my clams. Nice special service in asking me if I wanted some. Good variety in the menu. Our first time dining there before a concert, will definitely go back again.
A great neighborhood eatery with enough choices to make everyone happy. Latest additions to the menu are carnitas and chile rellenos. Nice variety with the usual Italian dishes. Good value.
I made a reservation thru OpenTable but when we arrived the restaurant didn't have it listed. No worries, there were tables available, but I had asked for patio and didn't get to sit out there. My husband had Veal Parm and loved it, MIL had Scampi pasta & liked it, I had fish picatta style with the polenta and it wasn't as good as the last few times. Fish was a little overcooked. Polenta a little dry. Celery Carppacio app had a few pieces that hadn't been cut up in the kitchen. Dessert of cheesecake was fine, but part of the slice they served must have broken off when plated and 1/4 was missing from the front of the slice. Just odd.
Our party of 4 had the street chicken appetizer and garlic bread, both of which were very good. One of us had the pork 3 ways, one the chicken parm and two had the cod piccata. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much. For dessert we enjoyed the peach cobbler and the donuts with nutella. I would say the donuts are too big-i'd make them about half that size balls, but otherwise great.
service very slow- very casual dinning, but $$ charged is fine dinning. Menu offering is very limited.
There was not bread brought out while we were waiting or with salad.
Even crackers would have been nice. Later they mentioned having pizza- so a small piece or two to try would have been nice & easy for them---but guess they don't get it.
Cesar salad dressing tasted like out of a bottle & not fresh.
Gnocci was dense & heavy-and almost like eating a ball of raw dough.
Sauce was good.
Not going back as there are better places for less money and with better service and food.
Not sure the 3$ plate of 4 pieces of nondescript bread & butter was worth it.
We stopped in at 5pm on the way to a concert at Mountain Winery. We had a reservation, but the restaurant was basically empty so we sat at the bar. Didn't care for our cocktails, but the draft beer selection was good. Loved the burrata appetizer, super fresh and something I'll crave again soon. The appetizer zucchini was pretty good, too, but not memorable. The restaurant was super hot (about 85 degrees outside, felt pretty much the same inside) so entrees seemed too heavy and we elected for a special - lobster roll with butter (a little dry but otherwise very good) and cheeseburger sandwich which was very tasty but again not memorable. Service was excellent. I'd come here again - for the burrata and a beer for sure - and give it another try on a day that's not too hot.
The food and the cocktail was excellent at East Coast Alice. We got there early and the bartender made me a really good blood orange Cosmo. We split a soft shell po' boy as an appetizer and each had a fresh pasta. If they were open for lunch I would have gone back the next day. On my next trip to Saratoga I will definitely go back to Easy Coast Alice
I would say that if you like "East Coast Italian", this would be your place to go.
Its fairly casual, so that families do come. The food is "okay". I was surprised that in an
Italian restaurant, you had to pay extra to have bread. The wines by the glass ranged from
$9.00 on up.
Around 8pm a guitar player came in on a Friday night.
Terrific place. Great ambiance. Really cool bar. Good food.
Just kind of an odd place. We sat out front, was sloped patio & then astroturf under the window. Food was OK, nothing special but not bad either. For the price, I'd go elsewhere.
Food was outstanding and high quality; Alice was very friendly and was very hospitable; knows her Italian wine selection and gave us very nice pours! We will be back for sure!
Alice couldn't have been more warm or welcoming. What a cute place and has great on what a cute place and has great food! Staff was attentive.
Food is amazing; a bit small but no complaints....
Wow this place is amazing on every level ! Organic farm to table food with a fantastic atmosphere! Fun date night or night with the kids! It's amazing! Seriously ! I'm kind of glad not many people know about it! It's that fantastic! Alice herself is there most of the time! She usually comes to say hi!
Casual spot with Italian-American dishes and lots of sandwiches. A little pricey but fits the neighborhood.
The restaurant is too small for live music. Could not hear our dinner companions.
The drinks are delicious! Highly recommend a stop at the bar. Five stars for the bar.
But don't come for the food. It was a surprising disappointment. We tried appetizers, salads, pasta, and fish and each was more disappointing than the last. They are heavy on the pepper to compensate for the overall blandness. Definitely won't be back to eat here again.
Great food, wonderful service, charming setting. You'll love it here.
We all really enjoyed our entrees, we all ordered traditional Italian (american) dishes and were not disappointed - very solid sauces with well cooked proteins though not spectacular (home made pasta required for spectacular ratings with simpler pasta dishes). The service was solid and atmosphere friendly. I wish I lived closer, it would qualify as a neighborhood gem for us.
Menu was interesting, but food turned out to be pretty mediocre. Maybe we hit a bad night.
They have a great bar and a wonderful staff. Everyone looks out for each other. The food is great and the bar is even better. And there's often some great music happening
Always a great meal. Superb food and lovely atmosphere.
Was suspicious when we arrived as most of the same wait staff from Cobre were working there. Menu quite limited and mundane. Ordered the cabbage casserole which was completely tasteless and arrived luke-warm. My spouse ordered the Carbonara because of the outrageous prices for meat. Was also a greasy disappointment. Save your money and visit some of the other restaurants in the area for their value, service and taste!
This was my first time at East Coast Alice. The service was fine, the food (I had the catch of the day) was good, but it was so noisy that it was hard to carry on a conversation. The noise level
dominated the evening. The table next to us had two young boys who just screamed and made loud noises the entire time. Then the live music started and all ability to hear and communicate went out the window. The music was great, just too loud and intrusive. I don't dine in Saratoga very often, so I'm not likely to return.
The owner came by and chatted - super nice and sweet!
Food was delicious and fresh! We will be back!
If you are looking for an engaging menu, comfortable setting, great service and a warm welcome, this is the place. Not a fancy place, but fun, for a small group. upbeat. We loved the cozy nook that seats about 10!
This restaurant is a really good find. I've always wanted to try it and finally got the chance. I was not disappointed. East Coast Alice has a good menu, but what was even better were the specials of the day (Gnocchi with Italian Sausage and meatballs - yum) . They also have good daily seafood selections. The food is prepared well, comes to the table hot and is really tasty.
Overpriced, not great food. Shrimp were over cooked.
