I love the new menu - fresh and inspired - and delicious. I enjoyed the Caesar salad and grilled calamari. Great place for people wanting gluten-free. All the menu items are marked for GF, V, Heart healthy. I love it.
Cocktails in the bar first are terrific, particularly with live combo and vegetables with dip offered. Parking is available in garage below.
You can never go wrong with a buffet, especially one that is centered about breakfast! We were very pleased with the breakfast selection, lots of different meats, omelettes, eggs Benedict, pancakes, etc. however, there was a lack of lunch items. Only items were Caesar salad, shrimp, and tabouleh salad. I would have considered this to just be a breakfast buffet vs brunch buffet. But, overall everything was delicious!
I've been to Maxwells several times for different menu specials, brunch, Thanksgiving and recently for their Summer BBQ which was totally awesome!! Food is always fresh and terrific. Service is wonderful. Mr. Reid is great, always friendly and attentive. I tell everyone I know about Maxwells.
It should NOT be called a brunch. It was a breakfast buffet. The buffet tables were not well kept and the food was cold. I was very disappointed in the selection of foods. Waitress only offered us coffee to drink. She asked us if we wanted a bagel and if so she would make us one. The bill was $80.00 for the three of us who could only eat $10.00 of good food which were the donuts. EBC compared to other brunches offered in the loop was AWFUL. Thank goodness the parking was inexpensive. It took us longer to get to the restaurant than the time we spent there. The presentation and taste of the food was less than adequate.
Always good food and I appreciate the nutritional info on the menu. The salmon is fantastic - cooked perfect every time and the garlic butter sauce is heaven. Also, I love the Oberon on tap throughout the summer. The servers are always friendly and meals come out quickly. Keep up the good work. :)
I've had dinner and lunch here, and both time was dazzled by the friendly, attentive, caring service. Arguably the best I've experienced. No exaggeration.
The food? Good, nothing special. Reasonable prices. Pleasant atmosphere. But the service alone is good enough reason to go.
I've been to Maxwells before, but never for brunch. However, this time we stopped in for Valentine's Day brunch...and it was delicious! The quality of the food was top notch and very excellent options (lamb chops, prime rib, shrimp, strawberries foster made to order!) on top of omelets, and traditional items (donuts, coffee cakes, pancakes, etc). Also, some great smoked fish and salads. Really quite tasty. Service was good, but we were there later in the time and I felt a little rushed. Valentine's Day brunch came with champagne or a mimosa, so it was a nice, relaxing brunch. Definitely worth a visit!
I like Maxwell's and part of the reason is the value. I wasn't informed when I made the reservation that the price last Sunday (Feb 14) had increased to $45/person from $24. I don't eat prime rib or lamb and didn't drink a mimosa so this increase and the "extras" were of no value to our party. I was embarassed in front of our friends to learn this when we sat down. In the future Maxwells should let people know about an 88% price increase.
Food here is solid if not exciting, and given the health club environment they try to offer a lot of healthy options. There is live music several nights a week. Wine by the bottle is reasonably priced and service is friendly. The décor could use some updating but the booths are comfortable and the spacing between tables is reasonable.
I enjoyed my dinner recently at Maxwell's. The food was great, and we enjoyed their Italian buffet on Friday night. The best part of our experience was our server, Lorena. She is simply the best waitperson I have ever met! She anticipated our needs, and made us feel right at home. Although she was waiting on several tables, we always had any and everything we needed. When we go back, Lorena will be our first request!
Visit EBC many times
Purpose of this visit to celebrate a friends Birthdays I indicated Birthday Celebration when I made reservation ON Open Table. We never received a piece of Birthday Cake .
Last year we did. The Servers sang Happy Birthday. Has the policy changed ?
We have dined at EBC numerous times and never have had bad service before this visit. Last Friday (Italian Buffet Night) happend to also be the night that EBC held its annual wine tasting in the special events room off the restraurant. My sense is the restraurant did not have (enough?) extra staff to handle both the normal customers and the special event crowd. After arriving, we waited 7 or 8 minutes for a waiter to take our order for a bottle of New Zeland Sauvignon Blanc and another 10 minutes before it arrived (with prodding from us). We had finished our first plate of food and gone for main courses before it arrived. The silverware used for the first round were removed with the first plates and not replaced, so we waited several minutes to get replacement cutlery.
That said, the roast pork and scallops on the buffet were magnificent. The salmon was a bit over cooked, but had nice flavors. The pork was nice enough to keep me from taking advantage of the pasta bar.
My recommendation to EBC is to have separate staff handle the special events and have the restraurant wait staff concentrate on the restraurant.
