Earth to Table: Bread Bar - Guelph Ratings and Reviews
An excellent departure from the usual brunch. Small plates made it possible to experience a wider variety of the kitchen specialties. All were well prepared and delicious. The salad and dessert bar was not all that extensive but what was offered was very good. The tasty berry pie with a crumble topping topped off the brunch really well.
The servers were attentive, friendly and kept the selections coming with no interruptions. A job well done.
Would of liked to see additional salad choices i.e. Ceasar Salad with Romaine rather than kale (who eats kale??). Also, choice of draft beer was limited. Would of liked an IPA with lower alcohol content. Only one available was a 6%++. Very good, but you can't have 2..
We had a great night and the staff went out of thier way! I mistakenly booked a table online for 2 so they were surprized when we showed up on a busy Saturday night before Christmas with a group of 6! The hostess worked her magic and reorganized the whole dining room to fit us in! Thank you for saving my skin and providing us with a wonderful experience. Pizzas are great and so was the crispy duck leg. Burgers are always a hit.
I had a business lunch at the beginning of the holiday season. Food was great. Value was there. Service was amazing. It is a BUSY place. Reservations really necessary during peak season. I asked for a quiet place, it was provided. Attentive service and allergies were dealt with very professionally. Thank you!
Ordered the falafel bowl and was looking forward to a spicy dish. Very disappointed when it was so bland I had to ask for hot sauce to provide the flavour. Service personnel were very accommodating in trying to make up for it. Provided a box of goodies to take home.
My dinner companion enjoyed what she ordered.
I would return but order something different.
I'm a huge fan of The Bread Bar and go here often for lunch and dinner. Today was the first time we tried it for brunch to celebrate my birthday.
Their website does not do a good job of explaining the experience - $30 per person, all you can eat and it includes 2 alcoholic drinks from their menu. But it's a little more complicated...
The price seemed high to me and we almost didn't go. But they have such an interesting approach: they present a menu which lists about 6 drinks to choose from (espresso drinks are extra), a list of their cold lunch-type items, three different pizzas, and a dessert cart which are all displayed buffet style, and a menu of breakfast items served kinda tapas-style which you can order as you like. Everything is all-you-can-eat.
We started with the peach wine belliini-style drink and a cocktail called a Frenchie. We also had coffee. We ordered the French toast, "all the sides" and the poached pear with crème anglaise and hazelnuts and we shared all of these. The plates are small but it really was quite good. We moved on to the bbq beef with potato hash and a poached egg along with the rootbeer beans and glasses of beer. Then we both had a slice of pizza and some fresh baked bread with raspberry jam. Not wanting to skip dessert we had a piece of pumpkin pie, blueberry pie, a brownie and a peanut butter cookie. We just had tastes of these.
What a clever idea! I love the tapas breakfast approach - this was unique, fun and of course delicious. And it was pricey but what a smart approach for a restaurant to do this and the place was packed with a cozy atmosphere.
The only improvement I would make is in the bar items. The beer was the best item we tried. They have such an opportunity to really create something special. The peach wine with sparkling wine was simply bad. And the Frenchie wasn't very good either. I think they could've done a lot more and created something super special. Regardless, we will be back, and will bring friends.
My husband and I loved the brunch selection, the service was great as always. The food was delicious and fresh. For $30 all you can eat plus 2 alcoholic beverages and unlimited coffee and tea, for what you pay it is way more than worth it. The food was perfectly seasoned.
Fiancé and I wanted to try something new. So, we decided to go the Bread Bar for Sunday morning brunch.
I've never done brunch but, this was amazing. We had the cutest table, right by the window and the food was amazing!
Look for the French toast, and 'all the sides' plate.
BEST. BRUNCH. EVER.
I have been there twice now with my girls, and husband. Both times, the staff have been very friendly, the food amazing, and the atmosphere very calming. My girls love the pizza and milkshake choices. There is a pretty good variety of food to choose from, and definitely something there for everyone. I highly recommend you make reservations on the weekends because there won't be a free seat available, that is how busy it is and how good it is!
This is the third time I have eaten here - twice for the Sunday brunch and once for dinner. We have not been disappointed so far. The food is delicious (especially any of the bread products, obviously), the service is attentive but not intrusive, and the prices are reasonable. I loved that there was no 'type' of clientele -- while we were having dinner, we saw people of all ages enjoying themselves. I would definitely recommend Bread Bar to anyone!
I reserved for a party of 5 & prepaid for my Mothers birthday. I left a 20% tip from the outset, feeling the service would likely be on point. I was pleased to note that my Mother & her guests unanimously agreed both service & food selection, quality and presentation were top notch. Thank you to breadbar for knocking it out of the park, yet again!!
Breadbar has become a frequent dining option for my friends and I.
We love the quinoa burger and you can never go wrong with their pizza!
On Sunday's the brunch is amazing, we were a little disspointed seeing the price be increased to $30 a person.
Overall this is one of our favourite places to have drinks and food. The patio is definetly one of the best in Guelph.
