Eagle's Eye Restaurant - Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was freezing. They had a beautiful fireplace but it wasn’t lit. Even the servers were cold. Not sure why it wasn’t on, as it was -20 at the base. Service was very slow (waited 20 mins for a drink). Our apps were good (salmon Tatar, lobster avocado salad), but our mains were awful. I had braised lamb shank. Not only was it cooked terribly, the cut was pitiful. My fiancé got the bison and my sister got the duck, they were very disappointed as well. The only positive thing I can say about the restaurant was the location- it was at the top of the hill. Personally, I would not return. Value for your money is not worth it either ($375 for 3 people including drinks).
Not impressed. $15 for 2 frozen chicken fingers and call it a kids meal? $12 for soup with a dried out store-bought bun? I wanted to ask why my chicken panini came out purple, but took the risk because we were starving. They advertise world-class dining because of the location? Everything costs way to much just because they have to bring it up the Gondola. I promise you, the food is nothing special, and definitely not world class. The highlight of our meal was watching a guest at the bar pop his pimples and eat them. Superb.
Just go. You'vee been skiing all morning at one of the most challenging ski resorts. You know you'll pay $20 for a ham sandwich in the cafeteria. Be good to yourself and eat a great meal with your friends. Even my hard core ski buddies said it was worth the extra time to sit in a real restaurant, eat a great meal with one of the best veiws of the Canadian Rockies.
I had the duck patte for appetizer and the boar spare ribs and they were excellent. Shared bench seating and open format made for a loud background noise. Service was very good but a bit neglected since the crowd was large at visit. Wine by the glass selection was very limited, but the cocktails were very well made. A bit on the expensive side for the offerings but considering the remote location a fair deal.
Absolutely amazing. The nicest steak I’ve ever eaten!!! Cooked to perfection. The service was brilliant our waiter Katie was super lovely and friendly. Went out of her way to make our night perfect. Danny the barman hand picked our cocktail recipes just for us and they were absolutely delicious! Couldn’t recommend this place enough. We’ll be back!
I have eaten here many times.
The food regrettably is generally underwhelming, but the view can make up for it. The Resturant is at the top of kicking horse Ski resort. When the clouds settle in it is an over priced cafeteria.
Drinks are delicious and well prepared. Service is hit or miss. ( on my visit justin Trudeau and his family were there so a little hectic. Food used to be amazing. Still the best view from a bar stool on a sunny day
It took a while to get seated and those without reservations got priority. The waitress took over 20 minutes to bring us our drinks. When the food finally came it was cold, probably sat in the back while the waitress did who knows what. P.S. it wasn't very full so she had no excuse. The view was amazing.
DO NOT RESERVE WITH OPEN TABLE AND EAGLE EYE RESORT. Call them directly instead
Eagle eye is very busy and a saught after place to book events like weddings and stuff. So when you book, open table doesn't know when the restaurant has been reserved for the evening. This resulted in my reservation being cancelled last minute and kinda ruining my plans completely.
I love using open table and love eagle eye restaurant however they don't seem to communicate with each other properly.
It was great watching the mountain bikers go down the mountain. You could hike to the top of the mountain if you are adventurous. Nice meal & atmosphere. Very expensive lift ticket ($95 for 4ppl) just to get there. They do have complementary lift tickets for dinner service. On top of that lift ticket, We spent $115 with wine & beer with lunch as family of 4.
Magnificent view, very good food.
We found this restaurant in the open table as a high rated restaurant for lunch on our way to Vancouver.
The only unexpected thing was you have to take gondola to get to the top of the mountain where restaurant is located. The gondola ride is around $45 per person and it takes approximately 20 minibuses to get there.
Outstanding experience. Took my 10 year old son for dinner while on a ski trip at Kicking Horse. Went up the Gondola late evening and reached the top around sunset. The views were spectacular, the service was outstanding and the food quality was very good. Given it's location at the peak of a mountain I can say it was an exquisite experience. Fantastic for a romantic evening.
I was very impressed by the location and ambience. Very unique and a great setting. The service and meal however were underwhelming. I ordered the lamb shank, and it was overcooked and tough, however the vegetables were excellently prepared and enjoyable. The service was intermittent, although pleasant. For the price, my expectations were simply not met, even in consideration of the location.
Overall, quite good. But having some fun with friends (10th annual men's trip) was kinda put down a bit from our server. Wasn't sure they wanted to be there and then two orders were served incorrect. It was no problem because we aren't ones to create a hassle, but there was really zero effort to make it all right. We still paid full price and that's ok.... we can afford it ....maybe a drink coulda been knocked off. I dunno how it's all done. Just wasn't as "epic" as we hoped.... try again next year.
Had a wonderful dinner for 4 here on a Saturday night. Cozy, inviting atmosphere was welcome after the chilly ride up the gondola. Nice wine list. Really good cocktail menu. Had beef tenderloin, farfalle seafood pasta dish, braised venison/bison/boar belly and vegan risotto. All were excellent but expect the braised meat dish to have some chunks drier than others - not a surprise as game meat is generally drier - the boar belly was melt in your mouth good. Shared the deconstructed lemon meringue pie for dessert - it was delicious but I still prefer lemon pie in a constructed form better. Avalanche special coffee was wonderful.
We have always found the food, service and the view is worth driving up the mountain. The cost is reasonable and we have brought other members of our families up here to show them how amazing Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is. We have always been very surprised not to see more locals come to these great events. We try not to miss any of them ourselves.
